As an official, you sign in on your organization's website to see the games you're assigned, confirm or reject them, request open games, block the times you can't work and submit post game reports. Everything is under the Officials Management menu, and most of it is in the TeamSideline app too.
Applies to: Officials · Organizations using the Officials module · Website and TeamSideline app
Where: Your organization's website > Officials Management (Officials Profile, Assignments, Request Assignments, Post Game Reports, Manage Blocks); in the TeamSideline app, Officials
Sign in
- Go to your organization's website and click Sign In.
- Enter the email address on your official profile (your main email, not an Alt Email) and your TeamSideline password, then click Sign In.
- If you've never had a TeamSideline account, click Create a new account instead and use that same email address. If you've forgotten your password, click Forgot your password? and follow the email you get.
What you'll see: the Officials Management menu with Officials Profile, Assignments, Request Assignments, Post Game Reports and Manage Blocks, plus Player Lookup if your organization uses it. If your organization gave you a registration link instead, see How to register as an official (self-registration).
Confirm or reject your games
Open Officials Management > Assignments. Each game shows its date and time, your role and level of play, and the teams and location, in one of three tables:
- Pending Assignments: games assigned to you that need your answer.
- Requested Assignments: games you asked for that are waiting for your Officials Coordinator. To withdraw a request, click its red X (Delete).
- Confirmed Assignments: games you're working. They're final, so contact your Officials Coordinator if something has to change. Games before today show only when you tick Show all.
- Under Pending Assignments, find the game.
- Click the green check mark (Confirm) to accept it, or the red X (Reject) to turn it down.
- Click OK on "Are you sure you want to confirm this Assignment?" or "Are you sure you want to reject this Assignment?".
What you'll see: a confirmed game moves to Confirmed Assignments. A rejected game leaves your list, and the admin who assigned it is emailed. If your organization shares them, the blue people icon (Officials) shows the other officials on a game and the blue card icon (Team Contacts) shows the teams' contacts. A game shown crossed out has been canceled.
Add your confirmed games to your calendar
- Under Confirmed Assignments, point to (or tap) the icon next to Subscribe to your Confirmed Assignments Calendar and copy the address in the box that opens.
- In your calendar program, such as Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook, use its feature for subscribing to a calendar by URL and paste the address.
Your confirmed games then appear in that calendar, and a canceled game is marked "(CANCELED)".
Block the times and places you can't work
Any time you haven't blocked counts as available. You aren't offered for games during a blocked time or at a blocked location, either to your Officials Coordinator or on Request Assignments.
- Open Officials Management > Manage Blocks.
- Under Availability Blocks, click Add Availability Block.
- Choose the Start Time and End Time you can't work.
- Under Date(s), choose Recurring and pick the start and end dates and the days (or All Week), or choose One Time and pick the date.
- Optional: add a Note, such as School or Vacation.
- Click Add.
What you'll see: "Availability block added." and the block in the table. Use the Edit icon to change a block and the red X to delete it. To block a location, click Add Location Block, tick the locations in Location and click Add. A new block doesn't remove games you already have: reject a Pending game, or ask your Officials Coordinator about a Confirmed one.
Request games
You can request games only if your organization lets officials request them.
- Open Officials Management > Request Assignments.
- Under Available Assignments, narrow the list with Game Date, Location, Role (it lists only the roles you're approved for) and Level of Play, or leave them at All with no date. Set Unavailable to Show to also list games whose spots are taken.
- Click Search.
- Click the green check mark (Request) next to the game you want.
What you'll see: the game under Requested Assignments on your Assignments page until your Officials Coordinator confirms it. If your organization confirms requests automatically, it goes straight to Confirmed Assignments. A game whose spots are taken shows a red Unavailable icon instead of the check mark.
Submit a post game report
Your confirmed games appear on Post Game Reports once their start time has passed.
- Open Officials Management > Post Game Reports. To see games older than 30 days, untick Show Only Last 30 days.
- Click the Edit icon next to the game. The picture shows it, a pencil:
- Under Attendance, choose I attended or No, I didn't make it. If you didn't make it, add a Did Not Attend Reason.
- If a Score section appears, enter each team's score. If the game wasn't played, leave the scores empty and choose a reason in If game not played, select a reason: instead.
- Add any Comments, and answer your organization's questions under Additional Information.
- Click Submit.
What you'll see: "Game report submitted." and a green check (Submitted) next to the game. The magnifying glass (View Game Report) opens it. A submitted report can't be changed: it says "Note: This game report has already been submitted. For changes please contact your officials coordinator."
Check your profile, approvals and pay
Open Officials Management > Officials Profile to see your details, Approved For (the sports, roles, levels of play, genders and age groups you can be given) and Account Balance (the payments your organization has recorded for you).
- To change your address, phone numbers, Alt Email, birthday or picture, click Edit Profile. It appears only if your organization lets officials edit their profiles; otherwise, contact your Officials Coordinator. Your sign-in email is changed under My Account > My Profile.
- On Edit Profile, keep Use for Assignment emails and Use for Reminder email ticked under your Email so your organization's officials emails reach you. Tick the two boxes under Alt Email to get copies there.
- If Player Lookup is in your menu, choose the Program, enter the player's First Name and Last Name and click Find to check the player's card and any suspension. "Player not found." means no player by that name is in that program.
Website or app
The website and the TeamSideline app use the same account and show the same games. In the app, open Officials, then Assignments, Post Game Reports, Blocks or Profile; on Assignments, tap + to search for games to request. The app shows your officiating only after your account is connected to your official profile, which happens when you sign in on your organization's website with your official email. If the app shows no assignments, sign in once on the website, then sign out of the app and back in.
If it doesn't work
- There's no Officials Management menu. Sign out and sign in with the email address on your official profile, not your Alt Email or a family account. See Why can't an official see games to request, or the Officials menu?
- "There are no games available." Search with All Locations, All Roles and All Types and no Game Date. If the list is still empty, there are no games for you to request right now.
- "Your request was not successful. You have reached your maximum games for this day." You already have as many games that day as your organization allows.
- "Your request was not successful. The availability of the game has recently changed." or "Your request was not successful. Please refresh your page and try again." Someone took the spot first, or the game is no longer open to you. Search again.
- A post game report has no Edit icon and no green check. Your organization has already marked the game payable. Contact your Officials Coordinator.
- "The Start Time cannot be greater or equal to the End Time." A block's End Time must be later than its Start Time on the same day.
- A Profile list appears at the top of your pages. More than one official profile uses your email address. Choose the one for the games you want.
Good to know
- Each official needs their own email address. Two officials who share one, such as a parent and a teen, end up on the same sign-in.
- Answer Pending games promptly. If your organization uses automatic rejection, a game you haven't confirmed by a set number of days before it is rejected for you.
- Your organization may email you "Official Assignments | TeamSideline.com" with your new and changed games, and "Official Reminder | TeamSideline.com" the day before each confirmed game. You can always sign in to see your games, with or without the email.
- If you're told a canceled game was rescheduled but it's still crossed out, contact your Officials Coordinator so they can assign you to it again.
- Payments reach your Account Balance when your organization confirms a batch payment, and your organization decides how pay is calculated.
