If your organization lets officials sign themselves up, open the officials registration link it gives you, sign in or create a TeamSideline account, and fill in the Officials Registration page. When you click Save, your officials profile is created and the Officials Management menu appears.
Applies to: Officials · Organizations using the Officials module with self-registration turned on · Website and TeamSideline app
Where: The officials registration link from your organization, or Account > Official Self Registration in the TeamSideline app
Register on the website
- Open the officials registration link your organization emailed you or posted on its website. If you don't have it, ask the organization, for example with Contact Us on its website. You don't type a code on the website: the link carries it.
- On the sign-in page, enter your email address and password and click Sign In. If you don't have a TeamSideline account, click Create a new account and complete the form. Either way, you're taken to the Officials Registration page.
- Check Full Name and Email. They come from the account you signed in with and can't be changed on this page, so if they're wrong, sign out and sign in with the right account.
- Fill in Street Address, City, State, Zip, Phone 1, Phone 2, Alt Email and Birthday as needed. If you already have an account with the organization, your address and phone numbers may be filled in for you.
- Leave Use for Assignment emails and Use for Reminder emails ticked under your email so your assignments and game reminders reach you. To get copies at your Alt Email, tick both boxes under it too. The boxes appear only when your organization sends those emails.
- Optional: add a Profile Image. The best size is 270 pixels wide by 330 high.
- Fill in any other fields your organization added. Required fields are marked.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "Your Officials profile has been created. You can now set your availability by clicking on Manage Blocks below." Your menu now has Officials Management, with Officials Profile, Assignments, Request Assignments, Post Game Reports and Manage Blocks.
Register in the TeamSideline app
- Sign in to the TeamSideline app with your TeamSideline account.
- Open Account and tap Official Self Registration.
- Enter the registration code your organization gave you in Code and tap Register. If more than one organization uses that code, choose yours from the list.
- Fill in your details and save them.
If your organization already added you
If your organization added you as an official itself, for example because you're getting assignment emails, you don't need to register. Sign in on the organization's website with the email address it has for you. If you've never had a TeamSideline account, click Create a new account and use that same email address. Your officials profile connects to your account automatically, and the Officials Management menu appears.
Forgot your password? sends a reset email only when an account already exists for that address. If no reset email arrives, create a new account with that email address instead.
What happens next
- Your organization is told about your registration and decides which games you can work. Until it has set that up, Request Assignments may show "There are no games available."
- Use Manage Blocks to block the dates and times you can't officiate, and Assignments to confirm (green check mark) or reject (red X) the games you're given. The Officials Instruction Guide walks through both.
- Sign in with the same email address every time: the Officials Management menu appears only for that account.
- To change your details later, open Officials Management > Officials Profile and click Edit Profile, if your organization allows it. Your sign-in email and password are under My Account > My Profile.
If it doesn't work
- "Please sign in or create a new account to access the officials registration page." Sign in, or click Create a new account. You'll then reach the registration page.
- "Officials registration is not available at this time." The organization has turned self-registration off. Contact the organization.
- "Officials registration is not available at this time. You may have an old registration link." Your link or code is out of date. Ask the organization for a new link.
- "Invalid Officials Registration access code. If you have a registration link, close this page, and try it again." On the website, the page was opened without the link's code: close it and open the link again. In the app, the code wasn't recognized: check it with the organization.
- "This user account already has an officials profile." You're already an official for this organization. Use the Officials Management menu; there's nothing to register.
- "Phone 1 field appears to be incomplete." (or Phone 2) Enter all 10 digits, or leave the phone blank.
- "Invalid Alternate Email format." or "Invalid Birthday." Correct the Alt Email address or pick a full date (month, day and year).
Good to know
- Your officials profile uses your account's name and email address, and each official needs their own email address and account. Two officials sharing one email address end up on the same sign-in.
- Registering doesn't approve you for any games. Your organization sets your status and the sports, roles, levels and age groups you're approved for.
- The website and the TeamSideline app use the same TeamSideline account.
