When your division uses Auto Coach Scoring, your team gets a "SCORE YOUR GAME" email after each game starts. Click Score This Game in it, enter both teams' scores (or why the game wasn't played) and any player stats, and click Score. You don't need to sign in.
Applies to: Coaches and team contacts · Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans (Auto Coach Scoring, turned on by your organization) · League and tournament divisions
Where: the "SCORE YOUR GAME" email > Score This Game
When the email arrives
- The first request comes shortly after your game's scheduled start time, or a set number of days later if your organization chose that (its 1st Request setting). It doesn't wait for the game to end.
- Reminders: if your organization turned on the 2nd Request and 3rd Request, they come a set number of days after the previous email, marked ***2nd Request*** or ***3rd Request***, and only while your team hasn't scored.
- The email goes to your team's Primary Email and Alternate Email on file with your organization and, when your organization sends it to all staff, to the Coach and Assistant Coach on your roster.
- Games more than 15 days old, and games that already have a result, get no email.
The email lists the game's time, date, location, division and teams. Replies go to a no-reply address, so use the link.
Score the game
- Open the email and click Score This Game.
- Check the Time, Date and Location at the top of the page.
- Find your team's section, Home Coach Score or Away Coach Score (your organization may use other words for Home and Away). Your boxes are highlighted in yellow; the other team's section is read-only.
- Type each team's score in the box next to its name. If your division keeps several scores per game, such as sets, there's a box for each one (G2, G3 and so on).
- If the game wasn't played, leave the boxes empty and choose a reason in If game not played, select a reason:, either Forfeit by home, Forfeit by away, Double forfeit or Canceled/Postponed. Playoff games usually offer only the two forfeits.
- Answer any extra questions your organization added, such as a pitch count.
- If the page shows Player Stats, enter each player's numbers.
- Click Score.
What happens after you click Score
It depends on your division's Which Team Scores Game setting:
| Setting | What you see | When the result posts |
|---|---|---|
| Both Teams | The first coach sees "Your scores have been saved. The other team coach is required to post scores for the results to be validated." | When the second team sends the same score: "Your scores have been validated and recorded." |
| Either Team | "Your scores have been validated and recorded." | Right away, from the first score sent |
| Home Team or Away Team | "Your scores have been validated and recorded." | Right away, from that team's score |
Once the result posts, the standings and any playoff bracket update. Until then, the game shows as Scoring in progress.
Changing a score you sent
- With Both Teams, until the other team's score matches yours, open the same link again, change the boxes and click Score. The page says "This game has already been scored by a coach on your team." but still lets you change it.
- Once the result has posted, the link no longer takes scores. Ask your organization's admin to correct it.
- If the other team never sends a score, your organization may post yours automatically a set number of days after the last reminder (regular-season and 2nd Half games only, not playoffs).
Scoring without the email
If your organization uses Coach Sign-In, sign in on its website with your team's Primary Email or Alternate Email, open Team Information and your team, and click the Edit icon on the game under Auto-Coach Scoring. The same Score This Game page opens.
If it doesn't work
- "Home Team Score Required." or "Away Team Score Required." Fill in every box for both teams, or leave them all empty and choose a not-played reason.
- "Invalid Home Team Score Format." (or Away) Scores must be whole numbers.
- "Invalid entry. If the game is played, enter the game scores only, otherwise select a game not played reason." You entered scores and picked a reason. Clear one of them.
- "Player Stats Points Made(PM) must total to team score." Your players' PM must add up to your team's score. If you picked a not-played reason and still see this, send the result to your organization's admin to enter.
- A message that one of your organization's questions is required (it names the question). Answer that question, then click Score again.
- "Review Scoring! Your scores do not agree with the previously entered scores. If you are sure your scores are correct, contact the Coach for the other Team." Your division needs both scores to match. The page lists each team's coach, with a phone number and email unless that team keeps them private. Agree on the score, then one of you sends it again.
- "This game has already been scored by another coach on your team." Someone else on your team, such as the other contact address, already sent the score.
- "The Game has already been scored either by the coaches or an administrator." The game already has a result. Ask your organization's admin if it's wrong.
- "Scoring is not available. Please contact your organization." Your division stops taking coaches' scores a set number of days after the game starts (its Lock Scoring setting), and that time has passed. Send the score to your organization's admin.
- "The Schedule has been updated after this 'Score This Game' email was sent. Please check for another follow-up 'Score This Game' email." The game's schedule changed after the email went out. Use the newer email, or Coach Sign-In.
- "Coach scoring has been disabled for this schedule." Your division no longer uses Auto Coach Scoring. Send the score to your organization's admin.
- "Scoring is only required by the Home team." Only the home team reports scores in your division.
- The email never arrived. See How coaches report game scores and stats (scoring email, Coach Sign-In and Stats Entry).
Good to know
- Anyone with your team's link can score for your team, so don't forward the email outside your team's coaches.
- If you can't score within 24 hours, the email asks you to use the Contact Us link on your organization's website.
- Player Stats appears only when your division collects stats with Auto Coach Scoring and keeps one score per game. Your organization decides when stats show on its website.
- If a game is rescheduled, the scoring emails usually start over after the new date and time.
