A game's day of the week comes from its time slot. If no games have been played, delete the schedule, change the Day on the division's time slots and create the schedule again; to keep the schedule you have, add time slots for the new day, move each game to one of them and click Calc & Save.
Applies to: Admins and schedulers · All plans (Save As Template: Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise) · Standard league divisions (Regular and 2nd Half schedules)
Where: Schedules > Leagues & Divisions > (division) > More Options > 3 Time Slots and 4 Create Schedule
Before you start
- Each game keeps its week. Its new date is the new day in the same schedule week. The Schedule Week setting on 1 Configuration > Scheduling (shown when you tick Show All) sets where a week starts. With Sun - Sat, moving Saturday games to Sunday puts each game on the Sunday at the start of that week, six days earlier. With Mon - Sun, Sunday ends the week, so the same games move one day later. Schedule Week can't be changed once a Regular, 2nd Half or Playoff schedule exists.
- Week 1 is the schedule week that contains the Day of First Game. If the new day falls earlier in that week than the Day of First Game, week 1's games are dated before it. The Day of First Game is locked while the Regular or Playoff schedule exists.
- Time slots that games use can't be edited or deleted. Once the schedule exists, 3 Time Slots says: "(Note: You can only edit and delete Time Slots not being used by your Schedule.)"
Option 1: Delete the schedule and create it again
Use this when no game has been played and you don't need to keep changes you made by hand.
- On Schedules > Leagues & Divisions, open the division's More Options menu and choose 4 Create Schedule (then Regular if a list appears).
- Optional, on the Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans: click Save As Template, enter a Template Name and click Save. The template keeps each game's week, time slot and matchup.
- Click Delete, then click OK in the Delete Schedule box ("Are you sure you want to delete this Schedule?").
- Open More Options > 3 Time Slots.
- Click the Edit icon on a time slot, change its Day and click Save. Repeat for each time slot.
- If the new day falls earlier in the week than the Day of First Game, open More Options > 1 Configuration > Scheduling, set the Day of First Game to the new day and click Save.
- Go back to 4 Create Schedule and click Create. If you saved a template in step 2, click Use Template instead, choose it under Template and click Create.
- Review the schedule and click Calc & Save.
What you'll see: after step 3, "Your schedule has been deleted. Until you create a new schedule, no schedule will be displayed on either the Public or League Administration site Standings & Results pages." After step 5, "Time Slot updated." After step 7, "Your schedule has been created and saved for you to review." Without a template, Create can pair the teams differently than before.
Option 2: Keep the schedule and move its games
Use this when games have been played, or when you've made changes by hand that you want to keep.
- Open the division's More Options > 3 Time Slots.
- Click Add Time Slot, choose the new Day, the Start Time and the Location (and the Game, if the division plays 2 games a week), and click Add. Add one for each time slot you're replacing.
- Open 4 Create Schedule.
- In each game's Time Slot list, choose the time slot for the new day. A "+" before a time slot means it's free that week; a "-" means the location isn't available then or another game already uses it. If you see dates and times instead of time slots, click Toggle View.
- Click Calc & Save.
- Optional: back on 3 Time Slots, delete the old day's time slots. Their Edit and Delete icons come back once no game uses them.
What you'll see: "The Schedule has been calculated, saved, and is shown below. You can now view this schedule on the Standings & Results page." Games that already have a score can't be moved. To move one game at a time instead, use Edit Game (see How to edit a game to change the week, day, time or location).
If it doesn't work
- There's no Delete button on 4 Create Schedule. A game in the schedule has been played, or your role doesn't include deleting schedules. Use option 2, or ask an administrator.
- A time slot has no Edit or Delete icon. A game uses it. Use option 2, or delete the schedule first.
- "You already have a Time Slot with this Day, Time and Location combination. Please check your entries, or click the Cancel button to return to the Time Slots page." That time slot already exists, so use it instead of editing another one to match it.
- "The time slot you have entered is the same as an existing time slot. Please choose another time." The same, when you add a time slot.
- Calc & Save doesn't save. A critical alert is on the page, often TC (Time Slot Conflict) because two games in the same week now use one time slot. Move one of them; see What do the alerts on the 4 Create Schedule page mean? below.
- The Day of First Game is still grayed out. The Regular or Playoff schedule still exists; both lock it.
- New AC (Availability Conflict) warnings appear. The location isn't available on the new day or time. See How to fix Availability Conflict (AC) and Game Conflict (GC) warnings on 4 Create Schedule below.
Good to know
- A 2nd Half schedule has its own time slots: use 3 Time Slots > 2nd Half and 4 Create Schedule > 2nd Half.
- If officials are assigned, their assignments move with the games when you save, and confirmed assignments go back to Pending.
- If the division's 1 Configuration > Communication > On Game Change is Yes and the schedule is visible, TeamSideline emails the changes a few minutes after your last save.
- If the division uses Auto Assign, deleting the schedule also deletes its time slots.
