A custom standings layout sets which columns a division's standings show, in what order, and how each team's contact appears. Create it on Schedules > Configurations > Custom Standings, then choose it as the division's Standings Layout on 1 Configuration > Display, or for many divisions at once with Update Multiple Divisions.
Applies to: Admins · All plans (Update Multiple Divisions: Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise) · League and tournament divisions
Where: Schedules > Configurations > Custom Standings. To use a layout: Schedules > Leagues & Divisions > (division) > More Options > 1 Configuration > Display
Create or change a layout
- Go to Schedules > Configurations > Custom Standings.
- Click Add Custom Standings, or the Edit icon on a layout's row. A new layout starts with TeamSideline's default columns.
- In Standings Name, type a name of up to 25 characters that none of your other layouts uses. Description is optional.
- Under Columns, tick each column to show and untick the ones to hide. A column you tick is added at the right end of the Standings Preview.
- In Team Contact Column, type the heading for the team contact column (up to 15 characters, for example Coach or Manager). Then tick what it shows: First Name, Last Name, Phone, and Linked Email, which turns the name into a link to the contact's email address.
- In Standings Preview, drag a column heading left or right to put the columns in the order you want ("Customize the order of your Standings table columns by moving columns in the table below.").
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "Custom Standings Configuration saved." and the Custom Standings list. Click Cancel instead to leave without saving. Changing a layout changes the standings of every division that uses it.
Columns you can add
Besides the standard columns, such as the team, games played, wins, losses, ties, Games Back and Streak (a team's current run, for example Won 2), the Columns list offers:
- Forfeits (F) and Overtime Loss (OTL, for sports with overtime such as hockey).
- Penalties (X), from Edit Penalties on the division's Standings page.
- Sportsmanship (SP) and Avg Sportsman (ASP). The points are entered on Edit Scores once Track Sportsmanship is Yes on the division's 1 Configuration > Scoring page (Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans).
- Team Color, the Color on the team's edit page, and Team Sponsor, its Sponsor Name, linked to its Sponsor Web Site. Edit a team from the division's 2 Teams page.
Columns about points take your sport's word: RF and RA (runs) for baseball and softball, GF and GA (goals) for soccer and hockey, and PF and PA for other sports. A key under the standings explains abbreviations such as F = Forfeits. There are no columns for sets won or lost.
Use a layout for a division
- Go to Schedules > Leagues & Divisions. On the division's row, click More Options and choose 1 Configuration, then open Display.
- In Standings Layout, choose your layout. Default is TeamSideline's standard layout.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "Division configuration updated." The division's standings on your website and on its Standings page use the layout. The GB/GP or PF/PA setting below Standings Layout (named for your sport, for example GB/GP or RF/RA) applies only to the Default layout; a custom layout shows its own columns.
Use a layout for many divisions at once (for example, to remove Streak)
- Create a layout with the columns you want, for example with Streak unticked, and save it.
- Go to Schedules > Leagues & Divisions and click Update Multiple Divisions.
- In Step 1, set Update Type to Configuration.
- In Step 2, tick All Divisions, or only the divisions to change.
- In Step 3, under Display Configurations, set Standings Layout to your layout. Leave the other settings at Select so they don't change.
- Click Update.
What you'll see: "Multiple divisions have been updated." The page doesn't show the divisions' current settings, so open a division's Display page to check. Update Multiple Divisions is part of the Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans; on other plans, set Standings Layout on each division's Display page.
To start new divisions of a sport with your layout, go to Schedules > Configurations > Sport Defaults, choose the sport, set Standings Layout and click Save. Sport Defaults applies only to divisions created after you save it, so use the steps above for existing divisions.
Hide coach names or contact details
- To hide the contact column, untick it in Columns. To keep the column but show less, untick First Name, Last Name, Phone or Linked Email under Team Contact Column.
- A team with Privacy Required ticked on its edit page shows no contact in the standings, whatever the layout.
- Team Contact Column needs a heading even when the column is hidden.
If it doesn't work
- "Custom Standings Name field is required." Type a name in Standings Name.
- "Team Contact Column field is required." Type a heading in Team Contact Column, even if you don't show the column.
- "Duplicate Custom Standings Names are not allowed." Another layout has that name. Choose a different one.
- The standings didn't change. Check the division's Standings Layout on 1 Configuration > Display. Sport Defaults doesn't change existing divisions.
- The layout has no Delete icon. A division uses it, including divisions in archived leagues. Choose another Standings Layout for those divisions first. A division in an archived league can't be changed, so a layout it uses can't be deleted.
Good to know
- You can make as many layouts as you need, for example one per sport or age group.
- To delete a layout no division uses, click its Delete icon (red X) and OK on "Are you sure you want to delete Standings Configuration "(name)"?".
- The columns you show don't change the order of the teams. The standings are calculated the same way whatever the layout.
