Archive a league when its season is over. It leaves your current leagues, its schedules come off your website, and everything in it is kept, read-only, on Schedules > Archived Leagues. A league you added yourself is archived on its League Edit page. A league created by a registration program is archived with the program, on the program's 1 Setup page.
Applies to: Admins whose role includes schedules (and Programs, for a registration-linked league) · All plans · Schedule-only and registration-linked leagues
Where: Schedules > Leagues & Divisions > Edit League icon; Programs > Manage Programs > (program) > 1 Setup; Schedules > Archived Leagues
What archiving does
- The league moves from Schedules > Leagues & Divisions to Schedules > Archived Leagues. Nothing is deleted.
- Its divisions drop off your website's schedule lists and the Master Schedule.
- The league becomes read-only: you can open each division's standings, but you can't change its settings, teams, schedule or scores. Enter final scores before you archive.
- You can still email its teams: in Communications > Send Communication, choose "Team Contacts (from 2 Teams Page) - Archived Leagues" or "Team Rosters - Archived Leagues".
Archive a league you added on Leagues & Divisions
- Go to Schedules > Leagues & Divisions.
- In the league's row (the row above its divisions that starts with "League:"), click the Edit League icon (a pencil). Use the league's icon, not the Edit Division icon on a division's row.
- At the bottom of the League Edit page, under Archive, check Yes, archive this league.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "The League information has been updated." The league is gone from Leagues & Divisions and listed on Schedules > Archived Leagues.
Archive a league that belongs to a registration program
A league created by a registration program has an orange Linked Program icon (a chain link) in its row, and its League Edit page has no Archive section. Archive the program instead, and its league is archived with it:
- If the program has published Team Sites, archive them first: open the program's 5 Team Sites page and, in the Archive column, click Archive Team Site for each team (or Archive Team Sites on a division's row).
- On Schedules > Leagues & Divisions, click the league's orange Linked Program icon. The program's 1 Setup page opens. (You can also go to Programs > Manage Programs, click the program's name and click 1 Setup.)
- At the bottom of the page, under Archive Program, check Yes, archive this program.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "Program has been saved." and the Manage Programs page. The program is now on Programs > Archived Programs, and its league on Schedules > Archived Leagues.
Archive a whole season at once
If your role includes it, Leagues & Divisions has an Archive Season button that archives every current league in one season.
- On Schedules > Leagues & Divisions, click Archive Season.
- In Archive Season, choose the season, for example 2026 Fall. Leagues set up with a start date are listed by month, for example 2026 October.
- Click Archive.
What you'll see: "Season Archive complete." Every current league in that season moves to Archived Leagues, including leagues that belong to registration programs. Those programs stay active, so archive them on their 1 Setup pages too (see "If it doesn't work" below).
See or restore an archived league
- Go to Schedules > Archived Leagues.
- Find the league. Each division's name opens its standings, and the Teams column shows how many teams it had.
- To restore the league, click its green Un-archive League icon, then click OK to confirm.
What you'll see: "The League has been un-archived." The league is back on Leagues & Divisions, and its divisions' eye icons are as they were, so any schedule that was visible shows on your website again.
For a league that belongs to a registration program, the Un-archive League icon is gray ("Unable to Un-archive League due to program association"). Un-archive the program instead: go to Programs > Archived Programs and click the program's green Un-archive Program icon. You'll see "The Program "[program name]" and associated League has been unarchived."
If it doesn't work
- League Edit has no Archive section, and League Name is grayed out. The league belongs to a registration program. Archive the program, as above.
- "All the team sites associated with the program "[program name]" must be archived prior to archiving this program. To do this, click on the "Team Sites" link above and archive each team site." Archive the program's Team Sites on its 5 Team Sites page, then check Yes, archive this program and click Save again.
- There's no Edit League icon in the league's row. Your admin role doesn't include managing schedules, or the league belongs to a registration program and your role doesn't include Programs. Ask an Administrator.
- There's no Archive Season button. Your role doesn't include Archive Season. Archive the leagues one at a time, or ask an Administrator.
- "Archive Season selection is required." Choose a season in the Archive Season list, then click Archive.
- The Un-archive League and Delete League icons are gray. The league belongs to a registration program. Un-archive the program on Programs > Archived Programs.
- A registration program's league came back after Archive Season. Saving the program's 1 Setup page makes its league current again unless Yes, archive this program is checked. Archive the program to keep the league archived.
- A league is missing from Leagues & Divisions. Look on Schedules > Archived Leagues. If it isn't there either, your admin account may be limited to certain sports (ask an Administrator), or the league was deleted (contact TeamSideline Support, who can restore a deleted league).
- Save is grayed out on the program's 1 Setup page. The program is already archived, or your role doesn't allow editing a program's setup.
Good to know
- Archive rather than delete. On Archived Leagues, the red Delete League icon ("Are you sure you want to delete this League?") removes a league from your site; a league that belongs to a registration program can't be deleted there. If you delete one by mistake, contact TeamSideline Support.
- To find an old team, use Schedules > Search and check Archived Leagues ("Check to include Archived Leagues in the search").
- On the Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans, Copy Season on Leagues & Divisions can copy an archived season's leagues and divisions into a new season.
- League names only have to be unique among your current leagues for the same season, so archived leagues don't stop you from reusing a name.
