To leave a game out of a division's standings for both teams, check Hide in Standings on that game on the division's Edit Scores page and click Save. The game stays on the schedule and can still be scored, but its result doesn't count for either team.
Applies to: Admins and scorekeepers · All plans (Multi Division Scoring: Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise) · League and tournament divisions
Where: Schedules > Leagues & Divisions > (division) > Standings > Edit Scores, or Schedules > Multi Division Scoring
Use it for games that shouldn't affect the standings, such as practice or exhibition games on the schedule. To count a game for only one of its two teams, see How to count a game in the standings for only one team instead.
Hide a game on Edit Scores
- Go to Schedules > Leagues & Divisions and click the division's name to open its Standings page.
- If the division has a 2nd Half, pick 1st Half or 2nd Half in the drop-down at the top of the page.
- Click Edit Scores.
- Find the game. Games are grouped by week, and a week in which every game already has a result starts collapsed: click it to open it.
- In the area under the game, next to its comment box, check Hide in Standings. You can still type the score.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "Results saved and standings updated successfully." The division's standings are recalculated without the game. On your public schedule, the game's comment reads "Game does not count in Standings." when Show Comments is Yes on the division's 1 Configuration > Display page.
To count the game again, clear Hide in Standings and click Save.
Hide games on Multi Division Scoring
On the Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans, you can do the same while you score games from several divisions:
- Go to Schedules > Multi Division Scoring.
- Set the Date Range (up to 7 days), the Location and the Sport Type, and click Update.
- Check Exclude From Standings on each game you want to leave out.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "Results saved and standings updated successfully." Exclude From Standings and Hide in Standings are the same setting, so the game shows as hidden on its division's Edit Scores page too.
What a hidden game changes
- It adds no win, loss, tie, game played or runs (goals or points) for or against for either team, so the tie breakers leave it out too.
- It stays on the schedule, with its score if you enter one.
- A playoff bracket seeded By Standings uses the standings without it, but still waits for it: the bracket fills in its teams only when no regular-season game is Not played or Scoring in progress, hidden games included. If a hidden game won't be played, set its Disposition to Canceled or Score not kept.
If it doesn't work
- The standings still include the game. Check that the box is checked on the right game and that you clicked Save. To recalculate the standings without changing any score, click Edit Scores and then Standings Update Only. You'll see "Standings updated successfully."
- A score doesn't count, and the game isn't hidden. Check the game's Disposition: only Played, Forfeit by home, Forfeit by away and Double forfeit count. Type both scores and click Save; a Not played or Scoring in progress game with both scores becomes Played. If you set Played yourself with a score missing, you'll see "All scores are required for both home and away teams for played games (see Week [week], Game [home team] vs [away team])."
- A playoff game has no Hide in Standings box. Playoff games don't have one on Edit Scores. They count in the regular-season standings only when Playoff in Standings is Yes on the division's 1 Configuration > Scoring page.
- The box can't be checked. Your admin account is limited to certain associated organizations, so games at other organizations' locations are read-only.
- Edit Scores is grayed out or missing. The division has no games yet, your admin role doesn't include scoring, or the league is archived.
Good to know
- Canceled and Score not kept games never count, so they don't need Hide in Standings.
- To leave a whole team out of the standings rather than one game, mark the team as an External Team. See How to hide a team from the standings (External Team).
- Standings are also recalculated when a coach or an official reports a score, and when you save the division's 1 Configuration > Scoring page.
