An Availability Conflict (AC) warning means a game's time doesn't fit inside the location's Available Times, or it overlaps a blocked time, a practice or a facility reservation at that location. A Game Conflict (GC) warning means another game is already scheduled at that location at an overlapping time. Both are warnings, not errors: the schedule still saves, so fix the game's time, the location's availability or the other booking.
Applies to: Admins and schedulers · All plans · Divisions whose locations have Available Times, Blocked Times, practices, reservations or other games
Where: Schedules > Leagues & Divisions > (division) > 4 Create Schedule; availability in Schedules > Locations > Manage Locations > View Location Availability
What the warnings say
- AC: "Availability Conflict - Week n | Availability Conflict for Time Slot "day, time - location"."
- GC: "Game Conflict - Week n | Game Conflict for Time Slot "day, time - location". The conflict is with league, division, schedule." The end of the message names the other game's league, division and schedule, such as its regular season or a playoff.
- On Playoff and tournament schedule pages, an overlapping game shows as an AC warning with "The conflict is with ..." added to it.
How TeamSideline checks a game's time
- A game's length is the division's Game Spacing (1 Configuration > Scheduling: "Length of time between the start of each game").
- Available Times: if a location has none, every time is available. If it has any, the whole game must fit inside an available window on that date: it must start at or after the window's start and end (start time plus Game Spacing) by the window's end. A game that starts exactly when the window ends, or would run past its end, gets AC.
- Blocked Times, practices, reservations and other games conflict only when they overlap the game. Back-to-back is fine: a game can start exactly when a block ends, or end exactly when one starts.
- Games in the same division and the same schedule never cause AC or GC for each other, so the first division you schedule can still get AC from the location's own availability, blocks, practices or reservations.
- Games in a to-be-determined time slot, which has no location yet, are never checked for AC.
Fix an Availability Conflict (AC)
- Note the week, day, time and location in the warning.
- Go to Schedules > Locations > Manage Locations.
- Click the View Calendar icon on that location to see what's booked then: games, practices, reservations and blocked times.
- Click the View Location Availability icon on the location.
- Under Available Times, make sure a window covers that date and day of the week from the game's start until its end. Click Set Availability to add one, or the Edit icon to widen one.
- Under Blocked Times, edit or delete a block that overlaps the game if the location is actually free.
- If a practice or reservation is using the time, move the game to another time slot or location, or move the practice or reservation.
- Reopen the division's 4 Create Schedule page to check that the warning is gone, then click Calc & Save if you changed games.
Fix a Game Conflict (GC)
- Read the end of the warning ("The conflict is with ...") to see which league, division and schedule already has a game at that location and time.
- Move one of the two games to a different time slot or location, in this division or in the other one.
- Click Calc & Save.
If a location really holds two games at once, such as a split field, set it up as two locations so each game has its own.
Good to know
- AC and GC don't stop you from saving. Calc & Save saves the schedule as long as there are no errors.
- With the Warning Filtering permission (Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise), you can hide a single warning with its Hide icon; Clear Filters shows hidden warnings again.
- Warnings for locked games appear only when Locked Games ("Show warnings for Locked Games") is Yes in Schedules > Configurations > General.
- Games from a linked organization that shares the location also block the time; they show as AC, not GC.
- The Availability Conflicts setting on the same General page controls practice warnings, not these game warnings.
- You can change the AC and GC badge colors in Schedules > Configurations > Schedule Alert Colors (Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise).
