Coaches report a game's score with the Score This Game link in the Auto Coach Scoring email, or by signing in to your organization's website and opening the game under Auto-Coach Scoring on your team's page. Player stats go on the same scoring page when your division collects them there, or under Stats Entry on your team's page.
Applies to: Coaches and team contacts · Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans (Auto Coach Scoring, Coach Sign-In and Stats Entry, each turned on by your organization) · League and tournament divisions
Where: the "SCORE YOUR GAME" email > Score This Game, or your organization's website > Sign In > Team Information > (your team) > Auto-Coach Scoring or Stats Entry
Which way to use
| To do this | Use | It's available when |
|---|---|---|
| Report the score | The Score This Game link in the email | Your division uses Auto Coach Scoring. You don't need to sign in. |
| Report the score without the email | Auto-Coach Scoring on your team's page | Your organization has turned on Coach Sign-In, and you sign in with your team's Primary Email or Alternate Email. |
| Enter player stats with the score | Player Stats on the scoring page | Your division collects stats with Auto Coach Scoring and keeps one score per game. |
| Enter or change player stats later | Stats Entry on your team's page | Your organization lets coaches enter stats, and your division keeps stats. |
If none of these is available to you, send the score to your organization's admin, who can enter it.
Report the score from the email
- Open the "SCORE YOUR GAME" email and click Score This Game. You don't need to sign in.
- Check the game's Time, Date and Location at the top of the page.
- In your team's section (Home Coach Score or Away Coach Score), type each team's score in the boxes highlighted in yellow. The other team's section is read-only and shows the score its coach sent, if any.
- If the game wasn't played, leave the scores blank and pick the reason in If game not played, select a reason:, for example Forfeit by home or Canceled/Postponed.
- If the page lists Player Stats, enter your players' stats.
- Click Score.
For every field and message on this page, see How coaches report scores and stats from the Auto Coach Scoring email.
Report the score after signing in (Coach Sign-In)
- On your organization's website, click Sign In and sign in with the email address your organization has as your team's Primary Email or Alternate Email.
- Under Team Information, click your team. Or click All Teams, which lists every team you're a contact for, and click the team's View icon.
- In the Auto-Coach Scoring section, find the game. Until its score is recorded, its Status is Scoring in progress.
- Click the game's Edit icon (a pencil). The Score This Game page opens.
- Enter the score, or a not-played reason, and any player stats, and click Score.
A game shows up under Auto-Coach Scoring once it's time for its first scoring email, so you can score it here even if the email didn't reach you. Any other Status, such as Played, means the game already has its result.
Enter player stats
On the scoring page, the Player Stats list shows your team's players with a box for each stat. Fill it in before you click Score. If your division tracks Points Made (PM), your players' points must add up to your team's score.
To enter stats later, or to change them, use Stats Entry:
- Sign in and open your team under Team Information, as above.
- In the Stats Entry section, click the Edit icon on the game.
- If the page has a Category: bar, click the category you want to enter.
- Type each player's numbers. The Stat Key under the list says what each abbreviation means.
- Click Save, or Save & Next to save and go on to the next category.
What you'll see: "The Stats have been saved." and your team's page opens again. Stats Entry lists your team's regular-season games and its games in the division's Playoff bracket. It doesn't list 2nd Half games.
What you'll see after you click Score
- "Your scores have been validated and recorded." The result is posted and the standings update.
- "Your scores have been saved. The other team coach is required to post scores for the results to be validated." Your division needs both teams' scores. The result posts when the other coach sends a score that matches yours.
If the scoring email never arrived
- Search your inbox and your spam or junk folder for "SCORE YOUR GAME". The first email goes out after the game starts, or a set number of days later, not when it ends.
- Ask your organization's admin which addresses they have for your team. The email goes to the team's Primary Email and Alternate Email and, when your organization sends it to all staff, to the Coach and Assistant Coach on the team's roster.
- If your organization uses Coach Sign-In, sign in and score the game under Auto-Coach Scoring, as above.
- Otherwise, ask your organization's admin to resend the scoring request, or send them the score to enter. Games more than 15 days old don't get scoring emails.
If it doesn't work
- "Scoring is not available. Please contact your organization." Your division stops taking coaches' scores a set number of days after the game starts, and that time has passed. Send the score to your organization's admin.
- "The Game has already been scored either by the coaches or an administrator." The game already has a result. If it's wrong, ask your organization's admin to correct it.
- "Review Scoring! Your scores do not agree with the previously entered scores. If you are sure your scores are correct, contact the Coach for the other Team." Your score and the other coach's don't match, so nothing is posted. The scoring page lists each team's coach, with a phone number and email unless that team keeps them private. Agree on the score, and one of you sends it again.
- "Player Stats Points Made(PM) must total to team score." Make your players' PM add up to your team's score.
- "You can not enter Stats for this team because there is no associated Roster." Your team has no players on its roster in TeamSideline. Ask your organization's admin.
- Team Information isn't there, or doesn't list your team. Your organization hasn't turned on Coach Sign-In, or you signed in with an address that isn't your team's Primary Email or Alternate Email. Only teams in your organization's current leagues are listed.
- There's no Auto-Coach Scoring or Stats Entry section. None of your team's games has had a scoring request yet, your division doesn't use Auto Coach Scoring, or your organization hasn't turned on Stats Entry or stats for your division.
Good to know
- When both teams must score, you can open the link again and change your score until the other team's score matches. Once a game has a result, only your organization's admin can change it.
- Your organization decides when entered stats appear on its website, so they may not show right away. Saving a new number replaces the old one; emptying a box doesn't remove a saved stat.
- Pitch Count in the TeamSideline app (TeamSideline Score) records your pitchers' pitches and innings. It doesn't send the game's score to your league's standings, so still report the score with Score This Game. See How to enter Pitch Count on the TeamSideline App.
- When your organization shows Division Contacts, your team's page also lists the other teams in your division with their contacts' names, phone numbers and emails.
- If your organization uses GotSport match cards, a Match Card button under Schedule Changes on your team's page prints the card for a game that hasn't been played yet.
