To have coaches send player stats along with their scores, turn on stats for the division and choose its stats (1 Configuration > Stats), then set Collect Stats to Yes in the division's Auto Coach Scoring settings (1 Configuration > Scoring). The Score This Game page then shows a Player Stats list for the coach's team.
Applies to: Admins · Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans (Auto Coach Scoring) · League and tournament divisions that keep one score per game
Where: Schedules > Leagues & Divisions > (division) > More Options > 1 Configuration > Stats, and 1 Configuration > Scoring > Auto Coach Scoring Configuration
Before you start
- Auto Coach Scoring must be turned on for the division (Enabled is Yes). See How to turn on Auto Coach Scoring for a division (each setting explained).
- The division must keep one score per game: # of Scores per Game is 1 under Game Scoring Configuration on 1 Configuration > Scoring. Player Stats doesn't appear in divisions that keep several scores, such as sets.
- Each team needs a Primary Email on the division's 2 Teams page, or its scoring email isn't sent.
- Coaches enter stats for the players on their own team's roster.
Step 1: Turn on stats and choose them
- Go to Schedules > Leagues & Divisions.
- Open the division's More Options menu and choose 1 Configuration > Stats.
- Click Turn On Stats. If the button reads Turn Off Stats, stats are already on.
- Check the list of stats. Add stats with Add A Stat or Apply Stat Template, and remove any you don't want with the red X. Coaches are asked for every stat in the list that's entered rather than calculated.
- Use the eye icon (Toggle Visibility) to choose which stats show on your public stats page: green shows the stat, red hides it.
What you'll see: "You have turned on Stat tracking for this division." and your sport's standard stats. For every option on this page, and for stat templates, see How to set up division stats and stat templates.
Step 2: Turn on Collect Stats
- On the division's More Options menu, choose 1 Configuration > Scoring.
- Scroll to Auto Coach Scoring Configuration.
- Set Collect Stats to Yes.
- Choose Who Scores Game. It decides who gets the scoring email, and so who is asked for the stats: Team Contact sends it to the team's Primary Email and Alternate Email on 2 Teams, and All Staff also sends it to the Coach and Assistant Coach on the team's roster.
- Optional: set Show Custom Fields to Yes to show coaches' answers to your Auto Coach Scoring questions (custom fields), such as a pitch count, with each game on your public schedule. Every answer shows to everyone, so don't ask for anything private.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "Division configuration updated." The Score This Game page now shows Player Stats: the players on the coach's team, each with a box for every stat. If Points Made (PM) is one of your stats, the players' PM must add up to the team's score. For the coach's side, see How coaches report scores and stats from the Auto Coach Scoring email.
Review the stats and show them publicly
- On the division's More Options menu, choose Edit Stats. It lists the division's games.
- To check or correct a game's numbers, click its Edit icon (Edit stats for this game), change them and click Save.
- Click the game's eye to turn its stats on. Green shows the game's stats publicly; red hides them.
Stats that coaches send from the scoring email start hidden, even when Show Stats is Yes on Schedules > Configurations > General, so turn each game's stats on here. Visitors open the stats with the See Stats button on the division's public standings and schedule page, which shows when the division's own Show Stats setting (1 Configuration > Display) is Yes.
If it doesn't work
- Coaches don't see Player Stats. Stats aren't turned on for the division, Collect Stats is No, or # of Scores per Game is more than 1.
- There's no Collect Stats field. The page has no Auto Coach Scoring Configuration section because your plan doesn't include it. It comes with the Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans.
- "Player Stats Points Made(PM) must total to team score." The players' PM don't add up to the team's score. In a division that tracks PM, a coach who picks a reason the game wasn't played gets this message too; enter that result yourself on Edit Scores.
- A game's Edit icon and eye are inactive on Edit Stats ("This button is inactive because you did not enter scores for the game"). Stats can be entered and shown only for a game whose result is Played.
- The stats don't show on your website. The game's eye on Edit Stats is red, the stat's eye on 1 Configuration > Stats is red, or the division's Show Stats on 1 Configuration > Display is No.
- Coaches don't get the scoring email. See Auto Coach Scoring emails: when they are sent, who gets them, and why they might not arrive.
Good to know
- Collect Stats is set on each division's Scoring page. Update Multiple Divisions and Sport Defaults don't include it.
- Stats kept on a Team Site's Stats tab stay on that Team Site and don't feed the division's stats.
- Coaches who sign in on your website can also enter stats with Coach Sign-In's Stats Entry, when Stats Entry is Yes on Schedules > Configurations > General. See How coaches report game scores and stats (scoring email, Coach Sign-In and Stats Entry).
- With Show Jersey Number set to Yes on 1 Configuration > Display, the Player Stats list shows each player's jersey number.
