If GameChanger gives you an embed code for a widget, such as your team's scores or schedule, you can show it on your website. Open the page in Content > Page Edit, click Switch to Editor, paste the code in the editor's HTML view and click Save. TeamSideline doesn't connect to GameChanger: the widget shows what GameChanger publishes.
Applies to: Org admins whose role includes Page Edit and the Legacy Editor permission · All plans · Legacy content editor
Where: Content > Page Edit > Switch to Editor > HTML (at the bottom of the editor)
Before you start
- Copy the widget's whole embed code from GameChanger. GameChanger decides which widgets it offers and where you copy the code; for help with that, contact GameChanger.
- Choose the page. Use a custom page (to add one, see How to add a custom page to your site menu (Legacy content editor)), your home page's text (Page Edit opens it first), or Game Schedules Page - Header Section, the text above your public game schedules.
- Check that Page Edit shows a Switch to Editor (or Switch to Content Builder) button. It needs the Legacy Editor permission in your admin role.
Add the widget
- Go to Content > Page Edit.
- In Page to Edit, choose the page.
- Click Switch to Editor. If the button says Switch to Content Builder, you're already in the editor view.
- Click HTML at the bottom of the editor. The page's code replaces the formatted text.
The picture shows the editor's HTML option at the bottom of the text box.
- Paste the GameChanger code where the widget should appear, for example after the page's last paragraph. Don't change the code.
- Click Design to go back to the formatted view. A widget built with JavaScript can show as an empty space in the editor; that's expected.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "Page content updated." Open the page on your website to see the widget. Its scores and schedule come from GameChanger and change when GameChanger's do.
If it doesn't work
- The code is gone when you open HTML again, and the widget doesn't show. It was pasted into an editor that removes script code: the Home Page Banner, a News Item or a division's Standings message. Paste it into a page in Page Edit's editor view instead.
- The code is there but the widget is blank on your website. Copy a fresh embed code from GameChanger and replace the old one. If it's still blank, ask GameChanger whether the widget is turned on and public.
- There's no Switch to Editor button. Your admin role doesn't include the Legacy Editor permission. Ask an admin whose role includes it to add the widget.
- The widget stopped working after the page was edited. Open the page in the editor view, click HTML, replace the widget's code with a fresh copy and click Save.
- Visitors see your new website instead. Once your organization's Editor 2.0 website is live, visitors are sent to it, so add the widget in the Site Editor.
Good to know
- TeamSideline has no GameChanger integration. Scores and stats you keep in GameChanger don't reach your TeamSideline schedules or standings, and TeamSideline doesn't send your schedules or rosters to GameChanger. To move them, export them from TeamSideline and import them in GameChanger; see GameChanger Touchpoints.
- For your home page, paste the code into the home page's text in Page Edit, not into the Home Page Banner, which removes script code.
- Keep editing that page in the editor view, which keeps script code as you pasted it.
- If GameChanger changes or stops a widget, replace or remove its code the same way.
