To delete an event you added to your organization's calendar, go to Content > Calendar, switch View to List and click the event's red X. Games, practices and events a team added on its Team Site aren't on this page: they're deleted where they're managed, as listed below.
Applies to: Org admins whose role includes Content > Calendar · All plans · Legacy and Editor 2.0 (CMS) websites, and Team Sites that show your organization's events
Where: Content > Calendar > View: List
Delete an event
- Go to Content > Calendar.
- Next to View at the top right, choose List. The Calendar view can't delete: clicking an event there opens its edit page, which has only Save and Cancel.
- Under Between, set the two dates so they include the event's date, and click Go. When you switch to List, the dates run from the first of the month you were viewing to the day you had selected, so a later event isn't listed until you change the second date.
- Find the event. The list shows each event's Event Date, Time and Event Name, 20 to a page.
- Click the event's red X (Delete).
- Click OK. The message reads "Are you sure you want to delete the News Item" followed by the event's name, but it's the calendar event that's deleted.
What you'll see: the event leaves the list and your website's calendar. If it was set to show on Team Sites, it leaves the Team Sites and the TeamSideline app too, and calendar subscriptions to your organization's calendar drop it the next time they refresh.
Delete a recurring event
A recurring event is saved as a separate event for each date, up to 52 dates, so there's no way to delete the whole series at once.
- In the List view, set Between to cover the whole series and click Go.
- Click the red X on each date you want to delete, and click OK each time.
The same goes for changes: each date is its own event, so editing one date doesn't change the others.
Hide an event instead of deleting it
A deleted event can't be brought back, so hide one you may need again. In the List view, click its eye icon (Toggle Visibility): a green eye shows the event on your website and a red eye hides it. Click it again to show the event. If the event is on Team Sites, also click its Edit icon (the pencil), set Show on Team Sites to No and click Save.
Deleting games, practices and other calendar items
Content > Calendar lists only the events added on that page. Everything else on your calendars is removed where it's managed:
- Games: cancel or reschedule them, or delete a whole schedule. See How to cancel or reschedule games and How to delete a schedule (regular, 2nd half, or playoff).
- Practices: see How to cancel or delete a practice (one date or the whole series). Coaches who manage their own practices: How coaches add, change, or delete practices (Practice Changes).
- Events a team added on its Team Site: the team's staff delete them on the team's Events page with the red X next to the event. League games, and events that come from Content > Calendar, can't be deleted there: their X is grayed out.
- Registration dates and facility reservations: these come from your programs and facilities. On a legacy website, Content > Configurations > General has Show Games, Show Practices, Show Reservations and Show Reg Dates, which take each kind off your website's calendar. For an Editor 2.0 website, see CMS: Add and edit calendar events on your website.
- Events from a parent organization: while Enable Cal Sharing is set to Yes for a parent organization on Administration > Associated Organizations, its events show on your calendar. Only that organization can delete them, or you can set Enable Cal Sharing to No.
If it doesn't work
- There's no red X. You're in the Calendar view. Set View to List.
- The event isn't in the list. Widen the Between dates and click Go. If it still isn't there, it isn't one of your Content > Calendar events: see the list above.
- "Invalid date range." Fill in both Between dates before you click Go.
- The event still shows on a Team Site. Check whether it's a team's own event, which the team's staff delete on its Events page, or one you hid instead of deleting: set its Show on Team Sites to No.
Good to know
- There's no undo. A deleted event can't be restored from your admin site, and TeamSideline Support's undo tool covers leagues and divisions, not calendar events. To get one back, add it again with Add Calendar Event.
- Hidden events stay in the List view with a red eye; deleted events don't.
- On Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans, Administration > Manage Users > Activity Log records each deletion and who made it.
