The best way for both parents to see their child's team sites is for both to be on the same family account, each with their own email address. The parent who registered the child adds the other parent with Add Parent. From then on, every team site your organization publishes for that child includes both parents, and each signs in with their own email address and password.
Applies to: Parents and guardians, and the admins who help them · All plans · Organizations that register youth participants (adult-only registration sites have no Members page)
Where: Your organization's website > Sign In > My Account > Members > Add Parent
Start with your organization
Your organization manages your family account and its team sites. If you aren't sure which option fits, or a step below doesn't work, contact it through the Contact Us page on its website. Its admins can add a parent to your account, merge two accounts or add someone to a team roster.
Your options
| Option | What the other parent gets | Who sets it up | Needed every season? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Add Parent (recommended) | Full access: the family account and every team site published for the children on it | A parent on the account, or the organization | No |
| 2. Merge two accounts | The same as Add Parent, once both parents are on one account | The organization | No |
| 3. Family & Friends | Limited: game and event times, locations and directions for the inviting parent's teams | A parent who is on the team roster | No |
| 4. Added to one team's roster | Full access to that one team site | The coach or the organization | Yes, for each team and season |
Option 1: Add the other parent to your family account (recommended)
- Sign in on your organization's website.
- Go to My Account > Members.
- Click Add Parent.
- Enter the other parent's own Email Address, their First Name and Last Name, and the other details the page asks for.
- Click Add.
What you'll see: "Account updated." The Members page lists the other parent with "(Parent or Guardian)" after their name.
The other parent then signs in on your organization's website with that email address. If they've never had a TeamSideline sign-in, they click Forgot your password? on the sign-in page to set one. Team sites already published for your children appear in their Team Sites menu, and they're added to future team sites automatically.
Admins can do the same: go to Customers > Account Management > Search, open the account and click Add Parent on its Account Overview.
Option 2: Merge two accounts
If Add Parent shows "This email address is already in use by one of your existing account members. Please access the existing member instead of creating a new member or use a unique email address for this new member.", the other parent already has their own account with your organization, for example because they registered a child separately. Ask your organization to merge the two accounts.
- Only the organization's admins can merge accounts. After the merge, both parents are on one account, and each can still sign in with their own email address.
- The organization can't undo a merge, so agree on it before you ask.
- Don't change your sign-in email to the other parent's address to combine accounts. Ask the organization to merge them instead.
Option 3: Family & Friends (limited access)
- The parent who is on the team roster signs in at TeamSideline.com and opens Family & Friends.
- They enter the other parent's First Name, Last Name and Email, and click Add.
- TeamSideline emails the other parent an invitation link. Once they accept, the teams are listed under F&F Teams on their All Teams page.
Family & Friends see game and event information, such as times, locations and directions, for every current team of the parent who invited them. They don't see roster members' email addresses and can't act as team members: "Not all Team information and functionality is available to Family and Friends because they are not Team members."
Option 4: Ask for a spot on one team's roster
A coach or the organization can add the other parent to a single team's roster on its team site. It covers one team for one season, so it has to be done again each season, and organizations can turn off roster changes by coaches. Use it only when the other options don't fit.
If it doesn't work
- There's no Members page or Add Parent button. Your organization registers adults only, so each adult has their own account, or you're using the TeamSideline app. Use a web browser, or contact your organization.
- The other parent signs in but sees an empty account. They signed in with a different email address from the one entered on Add Parent. They sign out and sign in with that address.
- The other parent doesn't see a team. The organization may not have published that team's site yet. If a team manager built the roster (Team Registration plus Roster), ask the team manager to add the other parent to the roster.
- The coach's Add To Roster button is grayed out, with "Note: The Add To Roster button has been disabled by (organization). Please use the (organization) web site Contact Us page to request changes to your roster." Contact the organization.
Good to know
- Everyone on a family account sees the same account, including its members, registrations, order history and each other's contact details, and either parent can register the children. If that isn't right for your family, use Family & Friends or talk to your organization.
- Each parent needs their own email address. Two people in the same organization can't use the same one.
- Sharing one sign-in also gives both parents access, but then you share one password and one email address for messages. Add Parent gives each of you your own.
- If your organization needs help with a merge or an account question, it can contact TeamSideline Support.
