Open the Content menu on your admin site: if it has Site Editor, your organization has Editor 2.0 (the CMS module); if it has Page Edit, Home Page Banner and News Items, you have the legacy content editor (the Content (Legacy) module). Organizations moving to Editor 2.0 usually have both for a while, so they see two Content menus.
Applies to: Org admins · All plans · Legacy content editor and Editor 2.0 (CMS)
Where: The Content menu on your admin site; Administration > Subscription > Summary (Modules)
Check which editor you have
- Sign in to your admin site and open the Content menu.
- Compare what's in it with the table below.
- To confirm, go to Administration > Subscription. On the Summary page, Modules lists CMS if you have Editor 2.0 and Content (Legacy) if you have the legacy content editor.
| Legacy content editor | Editor 2.0 (CMS) | |
|---|---|---|
| Content menu | Home Page Banner, Splash Page Edit, Page Edit, News Items, Calendar, Downloads, Entry Forms, Content Tables, Image Rotators, Photo Galleries, Sponsors, Assets, and Configurations (General, Home Page Layout, Site Layout, Site Images, Site Pages, Sidebar Links, Vanity Links) | Site Editor, Checkout Instructions, Downloads, Calendar, Entry Forms, and Configurations (Logo, Site Links) |
| Module name on Administration > Subscription | Content (Legacy) | CMS |
| How you edit your website | One page or feature at a time, on the Content pages | In the Site Editor, a drag-and-drop editor for your whole website |
Some menu items depend on your plan and your admin role, so you may not see every item listed.

If your organization has both editors
Organizations usually have both modules while their new Editor 2.0 website is being built and reviewed. With both, you see two Content menus:
- The legacy Content menu (Page Edit, Home Page Banner and the rest) still changes the website visitors see today.
- The Editor 2.0 Content menu's Site Editor changes your new website.
- Once your new website goes live, visitors see it. Changes made with Page Edit, Home Page Banner and the other legacy-only pages no longer show on your website. Calendar, Downloads and Entry Forms are shared by both editors, so changes there still show.
Moving to Editor 2.0
The legacy content editor is being retired and replaced by Editor 2.0:
- No new features or enhancements are being added to the legacy content editor.
- Fixes to it are limited to critical issues.
- Organizations still on the legacy content editor should start moving to Editor 2.0.
To start, review the website templates and pick one at https://templatechooser1.teamsidelinesite.com. Moving is one way: once your website is on Editor 2.0, TeamSideline doesn't move it back to the legacy content editor.
If it doesn't work
- You don't see a Content menu. Your admin role doesn't include website editing. Ask an admin who manages your website or your admin users.
- Your organization has Editor 2.0, but your Content menu has no Site Editor. Your admin role doesn't include Site Editor access. See CMS: How to open the Site Editor (and what to do if you can't).
- You can't open Administration > Subscription. Your admin role doesn't include it. Use the Content menu check, or ask an admin who has full access.
Good to know
- Help Center articles for Editor 2.0 have titles that start with "CMS:". Follow the articles for the editor your organization uses: the two editors work differently, and steps for one don't work in the other.
- If your organization has both editors, AI Playbook asks which editor you mean before it answers a website question.
- Calendar, Downloads and Entry Forms are the same pages in both editors, so events, files and forms you've already set up carry over.
- Editor 2.0's Site Links has the same Add Section and Add Link fields as the legacy Sidebar Links, but its links go only on the members' or admins' site map.
