On an Editor 2.0 website, the Store and Donations pages show the items you add on Programs > Store/Donations Setup, so set up the items there and then make sure the page is published in the Site Editor. New Editor 2.0 websites include both pages; they're locked system pages, so you change what they show in TeamSideline, not on the page.
Applies to: Org admins · All plans · Editor 2.0 (CMS)
Where: Programs > Configurations > Buy Items/Add-Ons; Programs > Store/Donations Setup; Programs > Configurations > Store/Donations; Content > Site Editor; Content > Checkout Instructions
Step 1: Create the items
- Go to Programs > Configurations > Buy Items/Add-Ons and click Add Buy Item.
- Enter the Item Name, Item Description and Item Cost. To let buyers or donors choose the amount, set Variable Cost to Yes and enter a Lowest Cost and Highest Cost instead.
- Upload an Item Image. For sizes or colors, turn on Variation 1 or Variation 2; for something the buyer types, such as a name to print, use Text Input.
- Click Save. You'll see "The Buy Item has been added."
- If you turned on a variation, open the item's Variations tab and add each choice, such as Small, Medium and Large.
Step 2: Add the items to your Store or Donations
- Go to Programs > Store/Donations Setup.
- In Storefront, choose Store or Donations.
- Click Add Item.
- In Buy Item, choose the item. In Category, choose a category, or leave it empty to list the item under No Category.
- Click Add. You'll see "(item name) has been successfully added".
What you'll see: that storefront's items, grouped by category. Only items on a storefront appear on its page, and your website lists the categories and items in the order you set here:
- Set the order: drag an item up or down. To order categories or add one, click Categories.
- Feature an item: click its Toggle Show as Featured icon to show it as a featured item on the page.
- Remove an item: click the red X (Remove from store or donations page). The Buy Item itself isn't deleted.
Step 3: Choose the checkout settings
Go to Programs > Configurations > Store/Donations, change any of these and click Save. You'll see "Configurations have been saved."
- Guest Checkout: Yes lets donors give without signing in. It applies to the Donations page only; Store shoppers always sign in to check out.
- Req Payment Type: Credit Card makes buyers pay for Store and Donations items by card. Not Applicable keeps your usual payment options.
- Order Copy To: email addresses, separated by commas, that get a copy of every Store and Donations order.
- Store Expand Category: Yes opens every category when the page loads; No, the default, shows the category names until the visitor clicks one. On your website it also applies to the Donations page. Donation Expand Category currently changes only the list on Store/Donations Setup.
Step 4: Show the page on your website
- Go to Content > Site Editor.
- Open your pages and find the Store or Donations page.
- If the page is still a draft, publish it. A draft page stays hidden from visitors.
- Click Republish.
- Open your website and check that the page lists your items.
If your website has no Store or Donations page, add a page in the Site Editor and name it Store or Donations. Inside a section, click +, search for the Store or Donations widget and add it, then click Republish. If you can't find the widget, contact TeamSideline Support.
What shoppers and donors see
- Anyone can browse your Store and Donations pages and add items to the cart there.
- At checkout they move to your TeamSideline checkout. Store shoppers, and donors when Guest Checkout is off, see "Please sign in to complete your enrollment or order." and sign in or create an account. With Guest Checkout on, donors go straight to a guest checkout page.
- The website keeps a cart for 24 hours.
Change the checkout instructions
- 1Go to Content > Checkout Instructions.
- 2In Page to Edit, choose the section to change, such as Cart Page - Instructions Section, Order Confirm - Instructions Section or Guest Order Confirm - Instructions Section.
- Edit the text and click Save. You'll see "Page content updated."
These instructions aren't only for the Store and Donations: the cart instructions, for example, show on your TeamSideline cart for every order, including registrations.
If it doesn't work
- The page shows no items, or an item is missing. The item isn't on that storefront. On Store/Donations Setup, check Storefront (Store or Donations) and add it. Changes can take a few minutes to show; refresh the page.
- Visitors can't find the page. It's still a draft, or it's hidden from your navigation. Publish it and click Republish. If the navigation setting is grayed out, see the next item.
- The option to show or hide the page in navigation is grayed out. Store and Donations are system pages, and some of their settings are locked. Contact TeamSideline Support to change them.
- "No payment gateway setup. Please contact TeamSideline support." Guest Checkout needs a card payment gateway. Contact TeamSideline Support.
- "Invalid "Order Copy To" entry. Use commas to separate email addresses if more than one." Check each address and separate them with commas.
- "Buy Item field required." Choose an item in Buy Item before you click Add.
- Shoppers see "Cart has expired. Please add items again." or "Cart not found or expired. Please try adding items again." The cart is more than 24 hours old. They add the items again.
- Shoppers see that an item "is out of stock and was removed from cart." or that its "quantity reduced to (number)(available stock)". Inventory is on for the item and there isn't enough left. Add stock on the item's Inventory tab (Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans).
- Page to Edit on Checkout Instructions is empty. Your site doesn't have the checkout instruction sections. Ask TeamSideline Support to add them.
- You can't open the Site Editor. See CMS: How to open the Site Editor (and what to do if you can't).
Good to know
- Every plan includes the Store and Donations pages. You don't need to upgrade to take donations.
- The note at the top of Store/Donations Setup about adding the Store or Donations page in Content > Configurations > Site Pages is for the legacy content editor. On Editor 2.0 the pages are in the Site Editor.
- Items, categories and settings you change in TeamSideline show on your website without republishing, usually within a few minutes.
- The checkout button is part of the Store and Donations sections, so you can't move or restyle it on its own.
- To see what sold, run Reports > Report Exports > Store/Donation Detail.
- Buy Items, categories and inventory work the same way in both website editors. The legacy Store and Donations articles below have more detail on them; skip their Site Pages steps.
