Stray code on your Editor 2.0 Contact Us page, such as <p> or <span> tags shown as text, usually comes from the Custom Text saved in your TeamSideline Contact Us settings for your old website; the page's Contact Us section shows that text and is View Only in the Site Editor. Delete the code at Communications > Configurations > Contact Us before your new website goes live, or ask TeamSideline Support to remove it once the website is live.
Applies to: Org admins · All plans, for organizations moving to or using Editor 2.0 (the CMS module) · Editor 2.0 (CMS)
Where: Communications > Configurations > Contact Us > Custom Page Text (until your new website is live)
Before your new website is live: remove the code yourself
- Go to Communications > Configurations > Contact Us.
- Under Custom Page Text, find the Custom Text box.
- Click HTML at the bottom of the box to see the code.
- Delete the leftover code. Keep any words you want visitors to see, or delete everything if you don't want extra text on the page.
- Click Design at the bottom of the box to check what's left.
- Click Save.
- Open your new website's Contact Us page and refresh it.
What you'll see: "Save Successful." The Contact Us page shows only what's left in the Custom Text box. It can take a few minutes to update.
After your new website is live: ask Support
Once your new website is live, the Contact Us settings no longer show Custom Page Text, so you can't remove the code yourself. The rest of the page, such as who receives messages, stays yours to change.
- Contact TeamSideline Support.
- Say which page shows the code, and copy a few words of the code or the text near it.
- When Support says it's removed, refresh the page to check.
Support can also remove leftover code that came over somewhere else, such as on another page.
If it doesn't work
- Contact Us isn't under Communications > Configurations. Your new website is live, or your admin role doesn't include Contact Us settings. Ask TeamSideline Support.
- Unchecking Override Default Text didn't remove the text. That checkbox controlled your old website's Contact Us page. Your new website's Contact Us section shows whatever is in the Custom Text box, so delete the text itself.
- "Contact Full Name is required." or "Contact Email Address is required." Full Name and Email Address under Public Site Contact Information must be filled in before you can save.
- "Telephone field appears to be incomplete." Enter all 10 digits of the Telephone, or clear it.
- "The format of the Email Address you entered has a problem. Please look at it again and make sure you have entered it correctly. If you copy/pasted the email address, then try typing it instead because sometimes copy/pasting adds additional characters like blanks that you cannot see. Also, the email address must be a valid email address that can receive emails in order to be used during this process." Type the Email Address again.
- The code is still there after you saved. Wait a few minutes and refresh. If it's still there, it isn't coming from the Custom Text box; contact TeamSideline Support.
Good to know
- The Email Address under Public Site Contact Information is the default recipient for Contact Us messages, so check it before you save.
- Custom Email Text, lower on the same page, changes the confirmation email people get after they send a message, not the page.
- For other parts of your new website you can't edit, see CMS: Why can't I edit the header, footer or some page text? (View Only and locked areas).
- Links in your emails after the move: once your new website is live, the Links drop-down on Communications > Send Communication > Create Your Message lists your new website's pages, programs, schedules and downloads, so the links you insert open the right page. Links added before the move, for example in saved communication templates, can open your new home page instead. Insert them again, or paste the page's address from your browser.
