Every page on your Editor 2.0 website has its own address (URL). To share a page, copy its address from your live website. To change the address, use Page URL in the page's three-dot menu in the Site Editor, keep the redirect from the old address, and republish your website.
Applies to: Org admins with Site Editor access · All plans, for organizations with Editor 2.0 (the CMS module) · Editor 2.0 (CMS)
Where: Content > Site Editor > Pages > a page's three-dot menu > Page URL (redirects: More > Settings > URL Redirect)
Your website's address
- Your TeamSideline address. Every Editor 2.0 website has an address that ends in teamsidelinesite.com, for example https://yourleague.teamsidelinesite.com.
- Your own domain. If TeamSideline has connected a domain you own, such as yourleague.org, it's your website's main address, and each page's address starts with it, for example https://yourleague.org/spring-registration.
- Which one to share. Share your website's main address. TeamSideline's own links to your website use it: the link on your organization's name at the top of your admin site, and the page, program and schedule links you add to emails.
Only TeamSideline can connect a domain or change your teamsidelinesite.com address. The Site Editor has no domain settings for admins, so contact TeamSideline Support for either.
Find and copy a page's address
- On your admin site, click your organization's name at the top of any page. Your live website opens in a new tab.
- Go to the page, using your website's menu or links.
- Click your browser's address bar and copy the whole address, starting with https://.
- Paste it wherever you want to share it: an email, a social media post, a flyer or a document.
Copy addresses from your live website, not from inside the Site Editor or its preview, which are for signed-in editors. In the Site Editor, Page URL in a page's three-dot menu shows the end of the page's address, the part after your domain.
Until your new website goes live, your organization's name opens your old website instead.
Share a page in a TeamSideline email
- Go to Communications > Send Communication, choose your recipients and click Next to reach Create Your Message.
- Select the words you want to turn into a link.
- Click Links in the editor's toolbar and choose the page under Menu Pages.
The same list has Programs, which links to a program's page on your website, and Schedules, which links to a division's schedule. These groups appear once your new website is live. For a page that isn't in the list, paste the address you copied with the editor's Hyperlink Manager. For everything else in the Links list, see Links Tool Bar Drop Down.
Change a page's address
- Go to Content > Site Editor.
- Click Pages in the left sidebar.
- Click the three-dot menu next to the page and choose Page URL.
- Type the page's new address, the part after your domain. Keep it short and readable, for example spring-registration.
- When the editor offers to redirect the old address to the new one, accept it.
- Click Republish.
Keep the redirect. Emails you've already sent, links on other websites, bookmarks and search results still use the old address. The redirect sends those visitors to the page's new address. Without it, they get a page-not-found error.
Republish puts your whole website live. You can't publish one page on its own: every change waiting in the Site Editor goes live together. Finish or undo your other edits before you republish.
Add a redirect for an old address
Add a redirect when an address people already have should open a different page: a page you deleted or replaced, an address that kept extra characters after your website moved to Editor 2.0, or an old page's address on your own domain.
- In the Site Editor, click More in the left sidebar, then Settings, then URL Redirect.
- Add the old address and choose the page it should open.
- Click Republish.
If you don't see URL Redirect, ask TeamSideline Support to add the redirect for you. Send the old address and the page it should open.
Links to your old website
Once your new website is live, links to your old website's pages don't open the matching page on the new one:
- A link to a page on your old teamsideline.com address opens your new website's home page.
- An old schedule link is the exception: it opens the same division's schedule on your new website.
- A link that pairs your own domain with an old page's address can show a page-not-found error, because your domain now opens your new website.
Update links to old pages wherever they appear, such as other websites, social media profiles, documents and saved Communication Templates, with the new pages' addresses. For a link you can't change, such as one printed on a flyer, add a redirect from its address (see above). If you still need text or pictures from an old page, contact TeamSideline Support.
What you'll see
After you republish, the page opens at its new address, and its old address takes visitors to it. The page keeps its name in your menu: changing the address doesn't rename it.
If it doesn't work
- The new address shows a page-not-found error. The change isn't live yet. Click Republish, then refresh the page.
- The old address shows a page-not-found error. The redirect wasn't kept. Add one with URL Redirect, from the old address to the page, and republish.
- A link opens your home page instead of the page you meant. It points to your old website. Replace it with the page's new address.
- Program, schedule or stats links open an empty page. Contact TeamSideline Support.
- A button on your website opens the wrong page. Click the button in the Site Editor, choose the page again in its link settings, and republish.
- A school or office network blocks your website. Give its IT team your website's full address, starting with https://, and ask them to allow it.
- Menu Pages isn't in the email Links list. Your new website isn't live yet. Paste the page's address with the Hyperlink Manager instead.
Good to know
- Rename and Page URL do different things. Rename, in the same three-dot menu, changes the page's name and its label in your menu. Page URL changes its address. For adding, renaming, hiding and deleting pages, see CMS: Site Pages.
- A hidden page still has an address. Anyone with the link can open a page you've hidden from your menu.
- Domains are set up by TeamSideline. Connecting your own domain, adding a second one or changing your teamsidelinesite.com address is done by TeamSideline Support. If your website doesn't load at your domain, see Site Down or Custom Domain Not Loading: Investigation Checklist & Default Subdomain Fallback.
- A link to one program. To link a button straight to a program's registration page, see CMS: Link a Button to a Specific TeamSideline Program.
