Once a division's Regular or Playoff schedule exists, the Day of First Game on 1 Configuration > Scheduling is grayed out. To change it, delete the schedule, pick the new date and click Create again. If games have already been played, or you'd rather not rebuild, contact TeamSideline Support.
Applies to: Admins and schedulers whose role can delete schedules · All plans (Save As Template: Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise) · Standard league divisions
Where: Schedules > Leagues & Divisions > (division) > More Options > 4 Create Schedule, then 1 Configuration > Scheduling
Before you start
- Deleting a schedule removes all of its games, including changes you made by hand. Create then builds a new schedule, and the matchups can come out differently. On the Enhanced plan and up, save the current schedule as a template first (step 3) to get the same matchups back.
- The date stays locked while either the Regular or the Playoff schedule exists, so if the division has a playoff schedule, delete it too.
- The Delete button disappears once any game in the schedule has been played. See If games have already been played, below.
- If families can already see the schedule, click the division's eye icon on Leagues & Divisions so it turns red while you rebuild.
Change the Day of First Game
- Go to Schedules > Leagues & Divisions.
- Open the division's More Options menu and choose 4 Create Schedule, then Regular if a list appears.
- Optional (Enhanced plan and up): click Save As Template, enter a Template Name and click Save.
- Click Delete, then click OK in the Delete Schedule box ("Are you sure you want to delete this Schedule?").
- If the division has a playoff schedule, open 4 Create Schedule > Playoff and delete it the same way.
- Open More Options > 1 Configuration > Scheduling, choose the new Day of First Game and click Save.
- Go back to 4 Create Schedule and click Create. If you saved a template in step 3, click Use Template instead, choose it under Template and click Create.
- Review the schedule, make any changes and click Calc & Save.
- Create the playoff schedule again when you're ready, and click the division's eye icon so it's green again.
What you'll see: after step 4, "Your schedule has been deleted. Until you create a new schedule, no schedule will be displayed on either the Public or League Administration site Standings & Results pages." After step 6, "Division configuration updated." After step 7, "Your schedule has been created and saved for you to review." Week 1 is now the schedule week that contains the new date.
Change the 2nd Half Day of First Game
The 2nd Half date, next to the 1st Half date on 1 Configuration > Scheduling, locks once the 2nd Half schedule exists. Delete the schedule on 4 Create Schedule > 2nd Half, change the 2nd Half date and click Save, then click Create on 4 Create Schedule > 2nd Half. Deleting the 2nd Half schedule doesn't change the Regular schedule.
If games have already been played
- Ask TeamSideline Support. Contact support (Help > Contact Support, or support@teamsideline.com) with the league name, the division name or names, and the new Day of First Game for each. Support can change the date without deleting the schedule.
- Or clear the results and rebuild. Change each played game back to Not played on Edit Scores, clearing both scores, then delete the schedule as above. The results are lost, so keep a copy first. See How to delete a schedule (regular, 2nd half, or playoff).
- Or move the games instead. If only some games need new dates, change them on 4 Create Schedule and click Calc & Save. To push every game from a given week back by one week, use Block A Week with "Push All Games Out One Week" (see How to block a week in a schedule).
If it doesn't work
- The Day of First Game is still grayed out. A Regular or Playoff schedule still exists. Check 4 Create Schedule for both and delete the one that's left.
- There's no Delete button. A game has been played (on a playoff page, a forfeit also counts), or your role doesn't include deleting schedules, so ask an Administrator. In a Cross Division pair, delete from the first division. An archived league can't be changed.
- Your template isn't in the Use Template list. The list shows only templates that match the division's current number of teams, games per team, time slots and games per week ("This list is filtered by the current division configurations."). Change those back, or click Create.
- Some Week 1 games are dated before the new Day of First Game. Week 1 is the whole schedule week that contains the date, so a time slot on an earlier day of that week gets a game before it. Pick the first game day of the week.
- "Review Day of First Game: a valid start date is required." The date box is empty. Pick a date and click Save.
Good to know
- Schedule Week (Sun - Sat or Mon - Sun, shown when you tick Show All) locks once a Regular, 2nd Half or Playoff schedule exists. To change it, delete those schedules first. Sport Defaults set it only for divisions added later.
- Blocked weeks stay on their calendar dates. After you change the Day of First Game, check them on 3 Time Slots before you click Create.
- Update Multiple Divisions can't change the Day of First Game, and Sport Defaults don't include one, so set it on each division's Scheduling page.
- If the division uses Auto Assign, deleting the schedule also deletes its time slots.
- If the games are on the wrong day of the week rather than in the wrong week, change the time slots instead; see Schedule setup for the wrong day.
- For the other settings on the Scheduling page, see Division scheduling settings explained (1 Configuration > Scheduling).
