To keep stats for a division, open its 1 Configuration > Stats page, click Turn On Stats and choose the stats with Add A Stat or Apply Stat Template; you or the coaches then enter them game by game, and they show on your website's stats pages. On the Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans, you can save a set of stats as a Stat Template and reuse it.
Applies to: Admins and schedulers · All plans (Stat Templates, Auto Coach Scoring and coaches' Stats Entry: Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise) · League and tournament divisions
Where: Schedules > Leagues & Divisions > (division) > More Options > 1 Configuration > Stats; Schedules > Configurations > Stat Templates
Turn on stats for a division
- Go to Schedules > Leagues & Divisions.
- Open the division's More Options menu and choose 1 Configuration > Stats.
- Click Turn On Stats.
What you'll see: "You have turned on Stat tracking for this division." and your sport's standard stats, up to 12 of them visible on your website. The button now reads Turn Off Stats. Turning stats off hides them; it deletes nothing you've entered.
Choose and arrange the stats
- Add a stat: click Add A Stat, choose it in Stat and click Add. Stats that belong to a category, such as Goalie, are under it: expand the category with its arrow.
- Use a template: click Apply Stat Template, choose the Stat Template and click Apply ("Stat Template applied."). The template replaces the division's whole list of stats.
- Set the order: drag a row up or down. That's the order on your public stats page.
- Show or hide a stat: the eye (Toggle Visibility) is green when the stat shows on your website and red when it's hidden.
- Leaders: for a player stat, the leaderboard icon (Toggle Leaderboard Visibility) is green when the stat gets its own list of top players under Leaders on the stats page.
- Remove a stat: click the red X. It's inactive once numbers have been entered for that stat in this division, and for the division's last stat.
Each row shows the stat's acronym and name, and its Calculation when TeamSideline works it out from other stats. In baseball and softball divisions, Turn On Pitch Count appears when TeamSideline has turned pitch count on for your organization; it adds Innings Pitched and Pitches Thrown.
Save a set of stats as a Stat Template
- Go to Schedules > Configurations > Stat Templates.
- Click Add Stat Template, choose the Sport Type, enter a Template Name and click Add.
- On Edit Stat Template, choose a Stat and click Add. Repeat for each stat.
- Set each stat's eye and leaderboard icon (gold when it's on), remove stats with the red X, and drag the rows into order.
- Click Done.
To use it, click Apply Stat Template on a division's 1 Configuration > Stats page; the list offers only templates for the league's sport. To start new divisions of a sport with a template, choose it as the Stats Template under Stat Configurations on Schedules > Configurations > Sport Defaults. Divisions created by Copy Season don't get it, so apply it to them yourself.
Enter the stats
- You: on the division's More Options menu, choose Edit Stats, click a game's Edit icon (Edit stats for this game), enter each player's numbers and click Save. Stats can be entered only for a game whose result is Played.
- Coaches, from the scoring email: with Auto Coach Scoring, set Collect Stats to Yes. See How to set up stat collection in Auto Coach Scoring (Collect Stats).
- Coaches, after signing in: set Stats Entry to Yes on Schedules > Configurations > General. See How coaches report game scores and stats (scoring email, Coach Sign-In and Stats Entry).
Show the stats on your website
- Set the division's Show Stats to Yes on 1 Configuration > Display. Its public standings and schedule page then has a See Stats button, which opens the division's stats: Teams, Leaders and a Stat Key that spells out each acronym.
- A game's stats show only when its eye on Edit Stats is green. With Show Stats set to Yes on Schedules > Configurations > General, stats you enter on Edit Stats, or coaches enter with Stats Entry, are turned on as they're saved. Stats from the Auto Coach Scoring email aren't, so turn those games on with the eye.
- Show # of Stat Players on Schedules > Configurations > General sets how many players each Leaders list shows.
Calculated stats (such as PPG and PSPG)
Some stats, such as PPG (Points Per Game), aren't typed in. TeamSideline calculates them from other stats in the division, with the formula shown in the stat's Calculation column on 1 Configuration > Stats.
- Calculated stats show on your website's stats pages, but not on Edit Stats.
- A calculated stat stays blank until every stat in its Calculation is in the division and has a number. If PPG or another calculated stat is blank, add each stat its Calculation uses (hide it with its eye if you don't want it shown) and enter its numbers, including 0.
- To see what an acronym such as PSPG stands for, read the Stat Key on the stats page, or the stat's name on 1 Configuration > Stats.
If it doesn't work
- The Stat list under Add A Stat is empty. Every standard stat for the league's sport is already in the division, or the sport has none; contact TeamSideline about a sport with no stats. Stats with your own acronym and name can be created only on a Team Site.
- There's no Apply Stat Template button. Stats aren't turned on, or no template exists for the league's sport.
- "Please select a Stat Type. If you have decided to not add a Stat Type then you can click the Add A Stat button to close the Add area." Choose a stat before you click Add.
- "Stat Template field is required." Choose a template before you click Apply.
- "Sport Type selection is required." or "Template Name field is required." Fill in both when you add a template.
- A game's icons on Edit Stats are inactive. The game has no Played result yet ("This button is inactive because you did not enter scores for the game").
- "You can not enter Stats for this team because there is no associated Roster." The team has no roster. Add its players first.
- The stats don't show on your website. Check the stat's eye, the game's eye on Edit Stats and the division's Show Stats.
- Stat Templates isn't in your menu. It comes with the Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans, and your admin role must include it.
Good to know
- Stats belong to the division, so each season's divisions keep their own, and Copy Season doesn't copy them.
- Applying a template replaces the stat list. A stat the template leaves out stops showing, numbers and all, until you add it back with Add A Stat.
- Stats on a Team Site's Stats tab stay on that Team Site and aren't part of the division's stats.
- External teams don't appear on the stats pages.
- Show Jersey Number (1 Configuration > Display) shows jersey numbers on Edit Stats and on coaches' stats entry.
- To export stats, use Reports > Report Exports > Stat Results.
