Set a field's status on Schedules > Locations > Update Condition Status: tick the locations, choose a Condition such as Open or Closed, and click Update. On a legacy website, the status shows on your home page in the Location Conditions gadget once you turn it on; on an Editor 2.0 website, it shows wherever the Field Conditions widget is placed.
Applies to: Admins whose role includes location conditions · All plans · Legacy content editor and Editor 2.0 websites (the display differs)
Where: Schedules > Locations > Update Condition Status, and Schedules > Configurations > Location Conditions. Legacy websites also use Content > Configurations > General.
Set the status of one or more fields
- Go to Schedules > Locations > Update Condition Status.
- Under Step 1 - Select Locations, tick each location to update. The table shows each location's current Condition, Note, Updated Date, Valid Until, Highlight and Show Date.
- Under Step 2 - Select Conditions and Update, choose the Condition: Open, Closed or one of your own conditions.
- Optional: type a Note of up to 25 characters for your own reference. The legacy gadget doesn't show it.
- Leave Highlight ticked to show the status in the legacy website's gadget. Untick it to record the status without showing it there.
- Optional: tick Show Updated Date to show "As of" with the date and time of this update.
- Optional: set Status Valid Until. Once that date and time pass, TeamSideline clears the status on its own.
- Click Update.
What you'll see: "Selected location conditions have been updated." and the new Condition next to each location you ticked.
There's no button to clear just one field. Set it to Open, or update it with a Status Valid Until time a few minutes away. Clear All Conditions removes the status from every location at once, with no confirmation, and shows "All Conditions have been cleared. Your No Conditions Message will display by default."
Set the message for when no field has a status (legacy websites)
- On Update Condition Status, click Set No Conditions Message.
- Type the Message, up to 50 characters, such as All fields are open.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "No Conditions Message" has been updated. The legacy gadget shows this message when no location has a highlighted status and the gadget's Style is Scrolling.
Add your own conditions
- Go to Schedules > Configurations > Location Conditions.
- Click Add Condition.
- In Condition, type the name, up to 25 characters, such as Under Construction.
- Optional: choose a Text Color. The legacy gadget shows the condition in that color.
- Click Add.
What you'll see: the condition in the Location Condition list, ready to choose on Update Condition Status.
Open and Closed come with every site and can't be edited or deleted. A condition that a location has right now can't be deleted either: its red X is gray. To rename one of your own conditions or change its color, click its Edit icon (pencil).
Show field status on a legacy website
The Location Conditions gadget is off until you turn it on.
- Go to Content > Configurations > General.
- In the Location Conditions Gadget section, set Show Gadget to Yes.
- Optional: change the Title (up to 25 characters; it reads Field Status until you change it), the Style (Scrolling or Fixed) and, for Scrolling, the Height in pixels.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "Save Successful." Your home page shows the gadget on the right side of its News & Links section. It lists each location whose status is highlighted, by its Schedule Name, with the condition in its text color and, when Show Updated Date was ticked, "As of" and the time of the update.
To turn the gadget off, set Show Gadget to No and click Save.
Show field status on an Editor 2.0 website
Editor 2.0 websites don't use the gadget settings on Content > Configurations > General or the No Conditions Message. Instead, the Field Conditions widget shows the conditions you set on Update Condition Status, on any page where it's placed.
- Go to Content > Site Editor.
- Open the page where the status should appear, such as your home page.
- Add the Field Conditions widget to the page.
- Publish the page.
What you'll see: the widget lists your locations that have a condition. After you change a status, allow up to about five minutes for the widget to show it.
If the status isn't showing on your home page
- Show Gadget is No (legacy websites). Every site starts with the gadget off. Set it to Yes on Content > Configurations > General.
- Highlight wasn't ticked (legacy websites). The gadget shows only highlighted statuses. Update the location again with Highlight ticked.
- Nothing shows and the Style is Fixed (legacy websites). With Fixed, the gadget is hidden while no status is highlighted, and the No Conditions Message isn't shown. Choose Scrolling to show the message.
- Your home page has no News & Links section (legacy websites). The gadget sits in that section. Add it on Content > Configurations > Home Page Layout with Add Component. If your home page uses a Split Display, you can put the Location Gadget in it instead (the Split Display row's Edit icon).
- The status expired. Its Status Valid Until time passed, so it was cleared. Set it again.
- Your website is an Editor 2.0 website. The gadget settings don't apply. Add the Field Conditions widget in the Site Editor, and allow a few minutes for changes.
- The status still shows after you turned Show Gadget off (legacy websites). A Location Gadget in a Split Display shows whatever Show Gadget says. Remove it from the Split Display.
If it doesn't work
- "At least one location must be selected in Step 1." Tick at least one location, then click Update.
- "Condition selection required." Choose a Condition in Step 2.
- "There are no locations." Add your fields first on Schedules > Locations > Manage Locations. If your admin account is limited to some associated organizations, you see only their locations.
- "Condition Status field required." Type a name in Condition before clicking Add.
- "Condition Status already exists." A condition with that name is already in your list. Choose it on Update Condition Status instead.
- A condition's red X is gray. Point to it: "This is a default Location Condition." means Open or Closed, which can't be deleted; "This Location Condition is in use." means a location has it now. Change that location's status first.
- There's no Update Condition Status or Location Conditions menu item. Your admin role doesn't include location conditions. Ask an Administrator.
Good to know
- A field status is a notice on your website only. It doesn't cancel or move games and doesn't email anyone. To cancel games and tell families, see How to cancel or reschedule games, below.
- Field status isn't shown in the TeamSideline app.
- Updated Date and the "As of" time are shown in your organization's time zone.
- The legacy gadget shows a location's Schedule Name, so keep Schedule Names easy to recognize.
