Text Messages are sent from the Communication Module.
Who Can Receive Text Messages
All people who are listed in your Communications Module can receive text messages once their cell phone number is setup to receive them. The Send Communication Page groups lists in your Site into the following main categories:
1) Custom Contact Lists
2) Team Contacts or Published Team Sites
3) Current/Closed Programs - for all Registrant Types for each Program (for Registration Customers).
TeamSideline can send text messages to people in the Current Leagues and Current/Closed Programs categories.
How To Enable Text Messages To Be Sent
Text Messages can only be sent from your Site to people who have signed up (or "opted in") for Text Messages from your Site.
To get people in the Current Leagues or Programs lists to sign up for Text Messages:
1. Create an email message by selecting Communications > Send Communication from the Admin Site Map. On this page, click a checkbox to the left of the list you want to send a communication to, then click the Next button. Result: Create Your Message page displays.
2. From the Create Your Message page, type a subject and message, then click the Next button. Result: Send Communication page displays.
3. From the Send Communication page, click the checkbox titled Text Sign Up Link, then click the Send button. Result: The email is sent and since you clicked the Text Sign Up Link checkbox, the email will automatically include a link to a Text Sign Up page for your customers to follow to the Text Alert Setup page.
How People Sign Up for Text Messages To Be Received From Your Site
When a person on your email distribution list receives an email with a link to sign up for texting, following this process will enable them to be "Text Enabled" so you can send them Text Messages.
1. A person receives an email with a link to sign up for texting is received.
2. Person clicks the text signup link in the email. Result: Text Signup page displays.
3. Person types in cell phone number then clicks the Send a code to my phone button. Result: 1) A four character code is texted to the persons phone, 2) a Text Alert Setup page displays.
4. Four character code is received on persons cell phone.
5. Person types the code into the Text Alert Setup page Activation Code field, then clicks the Validate button. Result: If the code was typed in correctly then a page displays stating "Congratulations! You're done." The individual can now receive text messages from your Site.
How To Send Text Messages From Your Site
1. Create an email message by selecting Communications > Send Communication from the Admin Site Map. On this page, click a checkbox to the left of the list you want to send a communication to, then click the Next button. Result: Create Your Message page displays.
2. From the Create Your Message page, type a subject and message -- and type a text message of up to 100 characters in the Text Message field, then click the Next button. Result: Send Communication page displays.
3. From the Send Communication page, click the Send button. Result: Simultaneously, the email and text message are both sent out.
How To See Who Is Text Enabled
Anyone who is "text enabled" in your Communications List will have Text Enabled to the right of their name in the Communication List.
Delivery of Text Messages
For Texting Messaging, we use and rely on our partner Bandwidth to deliver our text messages. These services are not guaranteed for delivery or for delivery to be instantaneous. Although in most cases, delivery is as fast as you would expect electronic delivery to be.
Note: All organization/league site text messages are sent from 844-244-2454.
Replies to Text Messages
If one of the text message recipients replies to a text message you send out, they will receive an automated response from TeamSideline and the text message they have sent will not be delivered back to you, the sender. This is the message your customers will see:
Automated response: Your reply cannot be delivered. Please use the Contact Us page from the organization web site to respond. Text "STOP" to be removed from future text messages.
How many text messages have I used and how many do I have left?
From the Admin Site Map, go to Communications > Send Communication. Towards the top of the page, you will see two lines in red - the second line lets you know how many texts you have used and how many you have left year to date.
