Where: Content > Entry Forms (in both the legacy and the Editor 2.0 Content menu)
Before you start

- Choose the Field Type. The table below shows what each type looks like on the form.
- If you like, type help text in Side Description (up to 250 characters). It shows next to the field.
- For a text box or multi-line text box, enter Max Length: the most characters someone can type, from 1 to 2,500.
- Check Is Required if the form can't be submitted without an answer.

Field types
| Type | What visitors see | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Drop-down list | A list that starts with Select, then your choices | Visitors pick one choice. Add the choices with Add Drop Down List Values. |
| Text box | A one-line box | Max Length sets how much can be typed. |
| Multi-line text box | A taller box for longer answers | Max Length sets how much can be typed. |
| Check box | One box, with the Side Description beside it | There's no multi-select field: for several choices, add one check box per choice. A required check box must be checked, which suits an "I agree" box. Answers show as True or False. |
| Date | A date picker | |
| A box for an email address | The answer must look like a valid email address. The address typed in the form's first Email field gets a copy of the answers. On a legacy website, the form also asks visitors to type a code from an image (Verification). | |
| Phone | A box for a phone number | The answer must have 10 digits. On a legacy website, the box formats it as (555) 555-5555 as the visitor types. |
Edit, reorder or delete fields
- Edit a field: click the arrow next to the form's name, click the Edit icon (pencil) on the field's row, make your changes and click Save. You'll see "You have successfully updated Field '(field name)'."
- Reorder fields: drag a field by the handle at the left of its row. The form shows the fields in this order.
- Delete a field: click the red X (Delete) on the field's row and click OK.
- Edit or delete a drop-down choice: open the field's choices with its arrow and use the pencil or the red X on the choice's row.
If it doesn't work
- "A Field Name must be entered." Type a Field Name.
- "The Field Name you entered is already in use with another custom field. Please pick a different Field Name." Another field on this form has that name; capital letters don't count. Use a different name.
- "A Field Type must be selected." Choose a Field Type.
- "The Max Length must be entered." Text boxes and multi-line text boxes need a Max Length.
- "You must enter a Description." Type the drop-down choice before you click Add.
- A drop-down list on the form shows only Select. The field has no choices yet. Add them with Add Drop Down List Values.
- There's no Add Drop Down List Values icon on a field. The field isn't a drop-down list. Edit it and change its Field Type, or add a new drop-down list field.
- Visitors see "This form is no longer available." The form is hidden: its eye icon on Content > Entry Forms is red. Click the eye icon so it turns green. New and copied forms start hidden.
- Visitors can't submit the form. The message names the field: "The "(field name)" field is required.", "Please select a value from the "(field name)" list.", "Please check the "(field name)" checkbox." or "The format of "(field name)" does not appear to be correct. Look at it again and make sure you have entered it correctly." On a legacy website, "The Verification code is incorrect. Please try again." means the code from the image was typed wrong.
Good to know
- A form has only the fields you add. Add Name and Email fields yourself if you need to know who answered or want them to get a copy.
- Deleting a field also takes it off View Responses and the Entry Form Responses report, along with the answers already given to it. Export the responses first if you need them.
- Renaming a field renames it on earlier responses too. Changes to fields show on the form right away, including in the Entry Form widget on Editor 2.0 websites.
- Copy Entry Form, next to Add Entry Form, copies a form under a new name with its fields, drop-down choices and Email Address boxes. Earlier responses aren't copied.
- To collect a waiver that isn't tied to a program or a reservation, put the waiver text in the form's Form Introduction Text (the pencil on the form's row) and add fields such as Name, Date and a required check box.
