To show Facebook, X, Instagram and YouTube icons on your website, enter each profile's address under Site Social Links on Content > Configurations > General, choose Footer or Header and click Save. The same addresses add follow icons to the bottom of the emails your organization sends through TeamSideline.
Applies to: Org admins whose role includes Content > Configurations · All plans · Legacy content editor
Where: Content > Configurations > General > Site Social Links
Add your social media links
- Go to Content > Configurations > General.
- Scroll down to Site Social Links.
- In Social Media Icons Position, choose Footer or Header.
- For each profile you have, enter its full address, beginning with https://www. Leave the others blank. Each box holds up to 100 characters.
- Facebook URL: for example https://www.facebook.com/yourpage
- X (Twitter) URL: for example https://www.twitter.com/yourname. Use the twitter.com form: an x.com address isn't accepted, even though the example under the box shows one.
- Instagram URL: for example https://www.instagram.com/yourname
- YouTube URL: your channel's address, for example https://www.youtube.com/@yourchannel
- Optional: set Show Team Sites App Icons to Yes to add the App Store and Google Play icons to your footer.
- Click Save at the bottom of the page.
What you'll see: "Save Successful."
Where the icons show
- Footer: a Get Connected column at the bottom of every page of your website.
- Header: at the top of every page, on computers and phones.
- Emails: follow icons at the bottom of the emails your organization sends through TeamSideline, such as communications, order confirmations and schedule change emails. Emails use the same addresses whichever position you choose.
Only the profiles with an address get an icon. On your website, each icon opens the profile in a new tab.
If it doesn't work
- "Facebook URL should include "https://www.facebook.com/"." or "Facebook URL should start with "https://www." Copy the address of your Facebook Page and check that it begins with https://www.facebook.com/. An address without www, or one from the Facebook app, such as https://m.facebook.com/..., isn't accepted.
- "Twitter URL should include "https://www.twitter.com/"." Change the start of your X address from https://x.com/ to https://www.twitter.com/ and save again.
- "Instagram URL should include "https://www.instagram.com/"." or "YouTube URL should include "https://www.youtube.com/"." Enter the full address, with www. The same "should start with" message appears for each box when the address doesn't begin with https://www.
- Your changes weren't saved, or the page showed an error. An entry shorter than 12 characters, such as just your page's name, can't be checked, so nothing on the page is saved. Enter the full address and click Save again.
- An icon is missing. Its box is blank: only profiles with an address get an icon.
- Your website uses Editor 2.0. Your website's social icons come from Business Info in the Site Editor (see the CMS Business Info article below). The icons in your emails still use the addresses saved on this page, which isn't on the Editor 2.0 Content menu, so you may need TeamSideline Support to change them.
- You can't open Content > Configurations > General. Your admin role doesn't include it. Ask an admin who manages your website.
Good to know
- Facebook's old facebook.com/username page for choosing a short address no longer works. Use your Page's address as Facebook shows it; long addresses fit, up to 100 characters.
- There are boxes for Facebook, X, Instagram and YouTube only. To point people to another network, link it from a page's text, or add your own icon images and links in an email with the message editor's image and link tools. To reuse such an email, save it as a template in Communications > Communication Templates.
- Show Social Share, under Content Pages on the same page, is a different setting: it adds share buttons to your custom pages so visitors can share them.
