With Coach Sign-In, a team's contact signs in on your organization's website and opens their team under Team Information. There they see the other coaches' contact details in the division and, depending on your settings, their team's roster, games and practices they can change, stats entry, and games to score when the division uses Auto Coach Scoring.
Applies to: Admins and coaches · Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans · League divisions (Show Rosters: teams from your registration programs)
Where: Admins: Schedules > Configurations > General > Coach Sign-In. Coaches: your organization's website > Sign In > Team Information
Who can sign in
- A coach sees a team under Team Information when the email address they sign in with is the team's Primary Email or Alternate Email on the division's 2 Teams page. Other staff on the team's roster don't, unless their address is one of those two.
- In Team Registration programs, the team's contact is the person who registered the team. In individual registration programs, the first Coach you assign to a team that has no contact becomes its contact. You can enter or change the contact yourself (Step 2).
- The coach needs a TeamSideline account with that email address. Without one, they click Create a new account on your website's sign-in page.
- Only teams in current leagues are listed; teams in archived leagues aren't.
Step 1: Turn on Coach Sign-In
- Go to Schedules > Configurations > General.
- Under Coach Sign-In, set Enable Coach Sign-In to Yes. The other Coach Sign-In settings become available.
- Choose what coaches can see and do (see the table below).
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "The global scheduling configurations have been updated."
| Setting | When it's Yes |
|---|---|
| Show Division Contacts | The team page lists every team in the coach's division with its contact's name, phone numbers and email addresses, plus the 2nd half division's teams when there is one. Set it to No to hide them. |
| Show Rosters | The team page shows the team's roster from your registration program: staff with their role, and players with their parent or guardian, email and phone, with the Detailed Roster Report, Safe Roster Report and Emergency Medical Auth Forms buttons. |
| Schedule Changes | Coaches can change the date, time and location of their team's games (not playoff games), home or away, that aren't locked and don't have a result yet. The division's schedule must be visible on your website. |
| Practice Changes | Coaches can add, change and delete their team's practices when the division has a practice schedule. |
| Stats Entry | Coaches can enter stats for their games when the division has stats turned on. |
Step 2: Give each coach access
- Go to Schedules > Leagues & Divisions. On the division's row, use the More Options icon to open its 2 Teams page.
- Click the Edit icon on the team's row.
- Enter the coach's Contact First Name, Contact Last Name and Primary Email. To give a second person access, enter their address in Alternate Email.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "The Team Information has been updated successfully." The contact shows in the Team Contact column on 2 Teams.
What coaches see
- The coach signs in on your organization's website with the team's Primary Email or Alternate Email.
- They open Team Information and click the team. All Teams lists every team where they're the primary or alternate contact, with its Team, Season, Program/League and Offering/Division; the View icon opens the team.
- The team page shows the sections you turned on: Division Contacts, Schedule Changes, Practice Changes, Stats Entry and Roster.
When the division uses Auto Coach Scoring, the team's games with a scoring request also appear under Auto-Coach Scoring. The coach clicks the Edit icon on a game to post its score.
If it doesn't work
- The coach doesn't see Team Information. Enable Coach Sign-In is No; they signed in with an address that isn't the team's Primary Email or Alternate Email; the team's league is archived; or they signed in somewhere other than your organization's website. Correct the email on the team's Edit Team page, or have them sign in with that address.
- Enable Coach Sign-In, Schedule Changes, Practice Changes or Stats Entry is grayed out with an upgrade icon ("This feature is part of an upgraded package."). Your plan doesn't include it: Coach Sign-In and these options come with the Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans.
- Show Rosters is missing or grayed out. Your site's package doesn't include it. Contact TeamSideline.
- The team page has no Division Contacts. Show Division Contacts is No.
- A team in Division Contacts shows no name, phone or primary email. Privacy Required is ticked on that team's Edit Team page. Its Alternate Email still shows, so remove it if it shouldn't be shared.
- No Schedule Changes, Practice Changes or Stats Entry section. That setting is No, or the division's schedule isn't visible on your website, has no games or practices, or doesn't have stats turned on.
- "The game could not be updated." The game is locked or already has a result, or the new date is before the division's first week of games.
- No Roster section. Show Rosters is No, or no staff or players are on the team yet.
- No Auto-Coach Scoring section. The division doesn't use Auto Coach Scoring, or none of the team's games has a scoring request yet.
Good to know
- Coach Sign-In is part of your website, not Team Sites or the TeamSideline app. A coach can use Team Information before the team's site is published, and it never adds the team to the app.
- Show Division Contacts shares the contact details from 2 Teams with every signed-in coach in the division. Check them before you turn it on.
- To tell coaches how to sign in, send them the steps under What coaches see.
