To show visitors your games and practices by location on one calendar, choose what the public calendar shows on Schedules > Locations > Multi Location Calendar > Public Settings, then add it to your website: the Multi Location Calendar standard page on a legacy website, or the Multi-Location Calendar widget on an Editor 2.0 website.
Applies to: Admins whose role includes the Multi-Location Calendar and Display Settings Multi-Location Calendar permissions · Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans · Legacy content editor and Editor 2.0 (CMS) websites
Where: Schedules > Locations > Multi Location Calendar > Public Settings; Content > Configurations > Site Pages (legacy website); Content > Site Editor (Editor 2.0)
Step 1: Choose what the public calendar shows
- Go to Schedules > Locations > Multi Location Calendar and click Public Settings.
- Under Location Filters, open Location and check every location visitors should see. Check the list before you save: the first time, it starts with the locations of your own Multi Location Calendar view, not all of them. With 20 or fewer locations, leaving every box unchecked saves them all.
- Under Display Settings, enter the Header Text, the calendar's heading on your website.
- Set the time window visitors see with Start Time, Slot Duration and # of Slots. The calendar runs # of Slots × Slot Duration from the Start Time: for example, 12 slots of 1 Hour from 8:00 AM show 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Leave Time Label Span at 1.
- Click Update. You return to the Multi Location Calendar, with a message that the public settings were updated.
Public Settings are one set for your whole organization, and they don't change your own view of the Multi Location Calendar. Your website reads them when the calendar loads, so a change shows without republishing.
Step 2: Add the calendar to your website
Legacy website
- Go to Content > Configurations > Site Pages.
- Right-click Menu Pages and choose Add Standard Page > Multi Location Calendar.
- The page is added at the end of Menu Pages. Drag it to its place in your menu, and double-click it if you want to rename it.
- Click Save. You'll see "The changes to your menus have been saved."
- Open your website and click the new page to check it.
Editor 2.0 website
- Go to Content > Site Editor and open the page for the calendar, or add one (see CMS: Add, rename, hide or delete pages).
- Add a section, click the plus icon in it, type Multi-Location in the widget search and choose TeamSideline's Multi-Location Calendar widget.
- Click Republish.
The widget takes its locations, heading and hours from Public Settings, so change them there, not in the Site Editor. Not sure which editor you have? See CMS: Which website editor do I have? Legacy Content vs. Editor 2.0.
What you'll see
- A row for each chosen location, with the games, practices and blocked times there, in your league or division calendar colors where you've set them. Visitors can't move anything.
- Only public schedules show. A division's games appear when its schedule's eye on Schedules > Leagues & Divisions is green (or yellow, for the weeks you show) and its Show Game Section is Yes. Its practices appear when the schedule is visible and Show Practice Section on 1 Configuration > Display isn't Do Not Show. Canceled games, TBD games, byes and archived leagues don't appear.
- On a legacy website, open times from each location's availability are shaded light green, and facility reservations at those locations show too. On an Editor 2.0 website, facility reservations may not show (a known issue).
- Games another TeamSideline organization plays at a location it shares with you can appear as well.
If it doesn't work
- Only one location, or too few, shows publicly. Public Settings saved only those. The first time, the Location list starts with your own calendar view's locations, so one location you were looking at may be all that was saved. Open Public Settings, check every location you want, and click Update.
- A new location isn't on the public calendar. Locations added after you saved Public Settings aren't added on their own. Check them in Public Settings and click Update.
- Every location shows, including ones you didn't check. An Age Group is chosen in Public Settings (it appears for organizations that schedule for associated organizations). Set Age Group back to Select and click Update.
- "Please Select A Location." You have more than 20 locations, so the box reads "Select Locations" and you must check at least one.
- "Please Enter Header Text." or "Please Select A Start Time." Fill in the field and click Update again.
- A division's games or practices are missing. Its schedule isn't public, or only its first weeks are. See How to show or hide a division's schedule on your public site (and show only the first few weeks).
- Last season's games still show, or the new season's don't. Hide the old divisions' schedules (or archive the old league) and make the new divisions' schedules visible.
- Morning or evening games are missing. They're outside the time window. Set an earlier Start Time or more slots.
- There's no Public Settings button. Your role doesn't include the Display Settings Multi-Location Calendar permission. Ask an Administrator.
- Multi Location Calendar isn't in the Add Standard Page list. Your site already has the page (look through all your Site Pages, archived ones included), or your role doesn't include the Multi-Location Calendar permission.
- There's no Multi Location Calendar under Schedules > Locations. It's part of the Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans, and your role needs the Multi-Location Calendar permission. To add it to your plan, contact sales@teamsideline.com.
Good to know
- On a legacy website, setting Multi-Location Calendar to Show on Schedules > Configurations > General also lists the locations, with their addresses, under the calendar.
- To view and move games on your own calendar, see How to use the Multi Location Calendar.
