To track visits to your Editor 2.0 website, open the Site Editor and add your Google Analytics 4 measurement ID (it starts with G-) under Settings > Google Tools. Google Search Console is connected from Google Tools too. Tag Manager or other tracking code goes in the site's Head HTML; if you can't see it, TeamSideline Support adds the code for you.
Applies to: Org admins with Site Editor access · All plans with the CMS module · Editor 2.0 (CMS) websites
Where: Content > Site Editor > More > Settings > Google Tools
Add Google Analytics (GA4)
- In Google Analytics, copy your web data stream's Measurement ID. It starts with G-.
- In TeamSideline, go to Content > Site Editor.
- In the editor's left panel, click More > Settings, then Google Tools.
- Paste the Measurement ID into the Google Analytics setting and save.
- Click Republish so the live site includes it.
What you'll see: visits start showing in Google Analytics. Realtime data appears first; full reports can take a day or two.
Use a GA4 ID. Google retired Universal Analytics, so an older ID that starts with UA- no longer collects data.
Connect Google Search Console
- Make sure your website is live on your own domain. Search Console verifies the address visitors use.
- In the Site Editor, open More > Settings > Google Tools and use the Google Search Console option, following Google's prompts to verify the site.
- Republish the site, then finish verification in Search Console.
- In Search Console, submit your sitemap so Google finds every page.
Add Google Tag Manager or other tracking code
Tag Manager containers, Google Ads conversion tags and similar snippets go in the site's Head HTML, which is one of the editor's code tools.
- In the Site Editor, open More > Settings and look for Head HTML.
- If it's there, paste the snippet from Tag Manager (or the other service), save and click Republish.
- If it isn't there, your editor access doesn't include code tools. Send TeamSideline Support the snippet and ask them to add it to your site's Head HTML.
If Tag Manager also loads Google Analytics, don't enter the same Measurement ID in Google Tools too, or visits are counted twice.
Why don't I see "Analytics & SEO" or "Configurations"?
Older help articles send you to Administration > Configurations > Analytics & SEO or Content > Configurations > Site Pages. With Editor 2.0:
- Analytics & SEO is still in your Administration menu, but its Google Analytics Acct doesn't track your Editor 2.0 pages, because the website editor serves them. It adds Google Analytics only to legacy-website pages, and to TeamSideline account and registration pages opened on your own domain. The registration pages your Editor 2.0 site links to open on teamsideline.com, so they aren't tracked by it either. Use Google Tools for your website.
- Your Content menu changes: with Editor 2.0 it has Site Editor, Checkout Instructions, Downloads, Calendar, Entry Forms and Configurations (Logo and Site Links). The legacy Content > Configurations pages, such as Site Pages, aren't in it.
If it doesn't work
- Google Analytics shows no visits. Check that the ID starts with G-, that you republished, and that you're looking at the right data stream. Allow up to a day or two for reports.
- You don't see Google Tools or Head HTML in Settings. Your editor access doesn't include that tool. Contact TeamSideline Support.
- Site Editor isn't in your Content menu. Your organization uses the legacy content editor, or your admin role doesn't include Site Editor access. See CMS: How to open the Site Editor (and what to do if you can't).
- Search Console can't verify the site. Verify the address visitors use (your own domain, with or without www as your site shows it), and make sure you republished after adding the verification.
Good to know
- Page titles and descriptions for search engines are set in the Site Editor's SEO tools, not on Analytics & SEO. See CMS: How to Improve Your Website's Visibility on Google (SEO & AEO Tools).
- TeamSideline Support can add tracking code for you, but can't sign in to your Google Analytics, Tag Manager or Search Console account; you keep ownership of those.
- On the legacy content editor, Google Analytics is set on Administration > Configurations > Analytics & SEO; see How do I setup Google Analytics on my site?
