Standings show on your public site only when the division is visible (its eye icon on Schedules > Leagues & Divisions is on), Show Standings is Yes on its 1 Configuration > Display page, and its schedule types include Regular. They change only when a game has a result that counts, Played or a forfeit; if they still look out of date, click Edit Scores and then Standings Update Only.
Applies to: Admins and schedulers · All plans · League and tournament divisions
Where: Schedules > Leagues & Divisions > (division) > Standings, and More Options > 1 Configuration > Display
First, see what visitors see
- Go to Schedules > Leagues & Divisions and click the division's name to open its Standings page. This admin page always shows the standings, whatever the settings below.
- Click Public View. The division's public page opens in a new window, as visitors see it.
The standings don't show on your website
- Turn the division on. On Leagues & Divisions, the division's eye icon must be green or yellow; if it's red or gray, click it. Someone who opens a hidden division, or one in an archived league, sees "The League Administrator has de-activated the Standings & Schedule for the Division you have linked to."
- Set Show Standings to Yes. Open the division's More Options menu, choose 1 Configuration > Display, set Show Standings to Yes and click Save.
- Check the schedule types. On 1 Configuration > Scheduling, Regular must be ticked under Division Schedule Types. A division set up only for practices, or only for a playoff, has no standings section.
- Check View Options. Anyone who unticks Standings in the page's View Options hides the standings in their own browser for the rest of the visit, or until they tick it again and click Update. View Options you set on the admin Standings page carry over to Public View in the same browser.
What you'll see: after step 2, "Division configuration updated." Public View then shows the standings, under the heading Standings or the name you gave that section on the Display page.
The standings list the teams but no records
Until at least one game counts, the standings list the division's teams in their 2 Teams order (then by name), with no records, and Edit Standings is grayed out.
- A game counts once its Disposition is Played, Forfeit by home, Forfeit by away or Double forfeit. Not played, Scoring in progress, Canceled and Score not kept games never count, and neither do byes.
- To score a game, click Edit Scores on the Standings page, type both scores and click Save. A Not played or Scoring in progress game with both scores is saved as Played, and you'll see "Results saved and standings updated successfully."
The standings didn't change after a score
Standings are recalculated when scores are saved on Edit Scores or Multi Division Scoring, when a coach or an official reports a score, when you save the division's 1 Configuration > Scoring page or Edit Penalties, and when a team's External Team setting changes. To recalculate them now:
- On the division's Standings page, if the division has a 2nd Half, pick 1st Half or 2nd Half at the top.
- Click Edit Scores, then Standings Update Only. It recalculates without changing any score.
What you'll see: "Standings updated successfully." If a game still doesn't count, check it on Edit Scores:
- Its Disposition is Played or a forfeit, not Not played or Scoring in progress.
- Hide in Standings isn't checked. A hidden game counts for neither team.
- Cross-division games don't count when Exclude Cross Division is Yes on 1 Configuration > Scoring, and playoff games count only when Playoff in Standings is Yes there.
Places you set with Edit Standings last only until the next recalculation, as the page says: "Standings Updated. Next time you Edit Scores & Save, the standings will be recalculated."
A team is missing, or a team that left still shows
- A team is missing. Teams marked External Team are never listed; on 2 Teams they show "*External Team" under their name. Edit the team, clear External Team and click Save. In a 2nd Half, the standings list the teams on 2 Teams > 2nd Half.
- A team that dropped out still shows. Canceling a team's enrollment removes the team from its division only while it has no games on the schedule, and a scheduled team can't be deleted on 2 Teams ("The Team "[team name]" cannot be deleted because the team has been scheduled. Delete all schedules or remove the team from all schedules prior to deleting the team."). Mark it as an External Team instead: it leaves the standings, and the teams it played keep those results. If its games shouldn't count either, check Hide in Standings on each of them.
The order looks wrong
- Most sports rank teams by Games Back; some sports, and any division with a Custom Pts Config., rank by points. With Standings Method set to Bypass on 1 Configuration > Scoring, the tie breakers alone set the order.
- Click Tie Breaker Analysis above the standings. Details By Team shows each team's Placement Type and the tie breaker that placed it.
Standings in the TeamSideline app
- A team's Standings in the app opens that team's division page on your website (on your Editor 2.0 website's schedule page once that site is live), so the app shows what your website shows. Fix the website first.
- "This Team Site is not linked to a TeamSideline public schedule. A Staff member on the team roster can link to a schedule on the Team's Event list page." The team's site isn't linked to your league schedule. Publish the schedule to the team's site on the program's 5 Team Sites page, or have the team's staff link it from the team's Events page. See Why isn't my schedule showing on my website, Team Sites, or the app?
- If the app still shows the standings differently from your website, update the app first, then see App Error Troubleshooting.
If it doesn't work
- Edit Scores is grayed out or missing. The division has no games yet, your admin role doesn't include scoring, or the league is archived.
- The standings are still wrong. Contact TeamSideline Support (Help > Contact Support, or support@teamsideline.com) with the league and division names, what you expected to see, and a screenshot of the Standings page.
Good to know
- The Standings page also has Edit Message (a note for visitors on the division's page), Edit Penalties, Edit Stats (in divisions with stats), View Options and Print View.
- To show your teams before the schedule is ready, set Show Game Section to No on 1 Configuration > Display and click the division's gray eye icon so it turns on. The page then lists the teams without games.
- Canceled games never count. With Show Canceled Games set to Yes, they stay on the schedule, struck through.
- A playoff bracket seeded By Standings fills in only after every regular-season game has a result. Position Rounds playoffs never draw a bracket, and a Manual playoff schedule shows its games without one.
