Update Multiple Divisions changes the same settings in many divisions in one step. Choose an Update Type (Configuration, Visibility or Auto Assign), tick the divisions, set only the fields you want to change and click Update. A field you leave at Select keeps each division's own value.
Applies to: Admins whose role includes Multi-Division Update · Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans (Auto Assign: organizations with Advanced Scheduling) · Divisions in current leagues
Where: Schedules > Leagues & Divisions > Update Multiple Divisions
Update several divisions
- Go to Schedules > Leagues & Divisions and click Update Multiple Divisions.
- Under Step 1, choose the Update Type: Configuration, Visibility or Auto Assign.
- Under Step 2, tick the divisions under Divisions. Each league is listed with its season and sport. Ticking a league ticks all of its divisions, and ticking All Divisions ticks every division in your current leagues.
- Under Step 3, set the fields you want to change, as described for each Update Type below.
- Click Update.
What you'll see: "Multiple divisions have been updated." and an empty Update Multiple Divisions page, ready for the next change. The page never shows what the divisions are set to now ("This page does not show current division configurations."), so open one division's 1 Configuration pages to check the result.
Configuration: change division settings
The Configuration fields are the settings on each division's 1 Configuration pages, in the same sections. A list left at Select, or a box left empty, isn't changed. For what each setting does, see the article in the last column.
| Section | Fields on this page | Explained in |
|---|---|---|
| Division Schedule Types, Division Schedule Configurations, Playoff Configurations | 2nd Half, Playoff and Practice (Regular is always on); Games per Week/Team, 2 Game Configuration, Rest Period, Games Played/Team, Game Spacing, If Odd # of Teams..., Optimization Priority (some appear only once you choose Games per Week/Team); Playoff Type, Playoff Seed Method, # of Playoff Teams | Division scheduling settings |
| Division Scoring Attributes | # of Scores per Game, How Winner is Calc'd, Standings Method, Custom Pts Config., Forfeit Opponent Score, Max Differential Points, Track Sportsmanship, Exclude Games, Consolidated Standings, Playoff in Standings, Exclude Cross Division, Tie Breaker Order | Division scoring settings |
| Auto Coach Scoring Configuration | Enabled, Which Team Scores Game, Who Scores Game, 1st Request, 2nd Request, 3rd Request, Auto Accept One Score, Lock Scoring, Show Custom Fields | Auto Coach Scoring settings |
| Display Configurations | Show Schedule Default, Show Scores, Show Comments, Show Officials, Show Standings, Show Tie Breakers, Standings Layout, GB/GP or PF/PA, Show Game Number, Show Canceled Games, Show Game Section, Show Practice Section, Show Locations Section, Show # of Sched. Wks, Show Byes, Swap Home & Away, Show Playoff Grid, Show Playoff Brackets, Playoff Numbering, Show Extended Roster, Show Stats, Show Long Team Nm, Hide Schedule Link, Show Public Team Info, Show Jersey Number | Division Display settings |
| Standings Page Section and Column Names; Calendar | Standings, Schedule, Playoff Schedule 1 to 4, Playoff Brackets 1 to 4, Practices and Locations (up to 50 characters), Home and Away (up to 15); Background Color, Border Color | Division Display settings |
| Communication Configurations | On Practice Change, On Game Change, Send To, Include Rosters, Include Officials, Include Location Contacts | Game change emails |
A field your role, plan or modules don't include isn't shown. For example, Include Officials appears only with the Officials module, and Playoff in Standings only with the Tournament module.
A few fields save more than the value you pick:
- Auto Coach Scoring Configuration: its other fields open once you choose Enabled (Yes or No), and then every field in the section is copied to each division as shown. Check them all: untouched, they save Both Teams, Team Contact, a 1st Request of 0, no 2nd or 3rd Request or Auto Accept One Score, Lock Scoring 0 and Show Custom Fields Yes.
- Tie Breaker Order: choosing tie breaker 1 replaces the whole order, and any of 2 to 8 left at Select becomes Not Used.
- Playoff Type: choosing one also saves Playoff Seed Method and # of Playoff Teams, so set all three.
- Games per Week/Team: choosing it also saves the 2 Game Configuration, so with 2, choose that too.
- Calendar: Background Color and Border Color are saved with every Configuration update. Left empty, they remove each division's own calendar colors, so its games take the league's colors. If your divisions have their own colors, pick them here too.
- Section and column names: a name you type replaces each division's. An empty box keeps the division's name, so this page can't clear one.
Visibility: show or hide schedules on your website
Set First Half and Second Half to Visible or Not Visible, or leave them at No Change. It works like clicking each division's eye icon on Leagues & Divisions.
- First Half changes only divisions that have a regular-season, playoff or practice schedule, or whose schedule is visible already.
- Second Half changes only divisions that have a 2nd Half schedule, or whose 2nd Half is visible already.
- Other divisions you ticked are skipped without a message. With both fields at No Change, nothing changes, though the page still says the divisions were updated.
Auto Assign: set Auto Assign preferences (Advanced Scheduling)
This Update Type is listed only when your organization has Auto Assign, part of Advanced Scheduling. For each division you tick, it turns Auto Assign on if the division isn't using it yet, as Enable Auto Assign on 3 Time Slots does, and replaces all of the division's Auto Assign settings with the ones on this page, blank fields included.
| Field | What it sets |
|---|---|
| Game Day(s) | Game 1 and Game 2 each take a 1st to 7th choice of day (Mo to Su). Game 2 is for divisions with 2 games per week. |
| Assign Type | Random, Earliest or Latest. |
| Start Time | "between" and "and": the earliest and latest game start times. Fill in both, or neither. |
| Enforce Preferred Location/Time | When ticked: "If Team preferred location and/or time is not available, TBD assigned." |
| Template | Shown when you have saved scheduling templates. Leave it at Select for none. |
Use it only for divisions set to 1 or 2 games per week that have no time slots yet, the divisions the Enable Auto Assign button accepts: this page doesn't check. It doesn't check for a game day either, so always choose at least Game 1's 1st choice. To stop using Auto Assign for a division, click Disable Auto Assign on that division's Auto Assign page, which its 3 Time Slots page opens.
If it doesn't work
- "Select at least one division to update." Tick at least one division in Step 2.
- "Select at least one option to update." With Configuration, set at least one field. For Auto Coach Scoring, choose Enabled.
- "A Best of Series scoring type must have more than one set of scores." Set # of Scores per Game to 2 or more, or choose Count all Scores.
- A message that starts "Review the Tie Breaker section:" Fill the tie breakers in order from 1, each one once.
- "Please remove retired tie breakers from your tie breaker list prior to saving." Replace the retired tie breaker with another one.
- A message that starts "The Division Playoff section has 3 configurations" Choose a Playoff Type, Playoff Seed Method and # of Playoff Teams, or set all three to N/A. One that starts "Review your Division Playoff 'Playoff Type'." means a playoff with a consolation round needs at least 4 playoff teams.
- "3rd Request is only applicable if 2nd Request is selected." Check the 2nd Request too, or clear the 3rd.
- "Start time range is incomplete." or "Start time range is invalid." With Auto Assign, fill in both start times, the first earlier than the second.
- There's no Update Multiple Divisions button. Your plan doesn't include it (Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise), or your admin role doesn't include Multi-Division Update. Ask an Administrator.
- There's no Auto Assign Update Type. Your organization doesn't have Advanced Scheduling, or your admin role doesn't include Auto Assignment.
- A division isn't listed. Only divisions in current leagues are listed. Divisions in archived leagues can't be changed.
Good to know
- This page saves straight to each division without the checks its own 1 Configuration pages make. For example, a division's Scheduling page locks a schedule type once that schedule exists, but here 2nd Half, Playoff or Practice can still be set to No. Change schedule types and Division Schedule Configurations here only for divisions that don't have a schedule yet.
- Some lists are shorter here: Max Differential Points goes up to 25, Show # of Sched. Wks up to 15, and Games Played/Team sets the regular-season (or 1st Half) number only. Settings that aren't here, such as Schedule Week, the Day of First Game, the division's name, gender, age group and level of play, its stats and Collect Stats, are set on each division's own pages.
- Scoring changes made here don't recalculate the standings right away. To update a division now, open its Edit Scores page (More Options > Edit Scores) and click Standings Update Only.
- Setting On Game Change or On Practice Change to Yes starts each division's change emails from that moment, so changes saved before aren't emailed.
- The note beside 1st Request says "day(s) after game ends. (0=on game end)", but scoring requests are timed from the game's start. The note beside Exclude Cross Division repeats "Include Playoff Games in standings."; Yes leaves cross-division games out of the standings.
