Each location (a field, court or gym) has a Details tab with its names, address, category and public settings, and Availability and Calendar tabs; some features add Check-In and Contact Lists tabs. Categories group your locations on Manage Locations and on your public Locations page. This reference lists every setting, its limits and where it shows. For step-by-step adding and editing, the icons and archiving, see How to add or edit a location (field, court or gym).
Applies to: Admins whose role includes locations · All plans (Contact Lists: Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise; Update Multiple Locations: Elite and Enterprise; Organization, Game Spacing, Associated Organizations and Age Groups: Advanced Scheduling; Check-In: Facility module) · Locations for games, practices and calendars
Where: Schedules > Locations > Manage Locations; a location's pencil (Edit) opens its Details tab, and the Categories button opens Categories
Details tab
The page reminds you: "If a Location has more than one field then include a Location for each Field." Click Save after a change ("Location updated.").
| Setting | Limits | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Required, up to 50 characters | The place's full name, as your public Locations page lists it. |
| Field | Up to 25 characters | The field, court or gym at that place. Leave it blank if there's only one. |
| Schedule Name | Required, up to 15 characters, different from every other location's | The short version of Location and Field that your schedules show. Schedule imports find locations by it. |
| Category (optional) | Choose one, or type a new name (up to 50 characters) | Groups the location on Manage Locations and your public Locations page. It doesn't affect scheduling. |
| Street Address; City, State, Zip | All required. Street Address up to 100 characters, City up to 50, State a US state, DC or PR, Zip up to 5 characters | The address that map links open, unless a Location URL is set. |
| Location URL | Optional, up to 400 characters, starting with http:// or https:// | Replaces the address in every map link for the location. |
| More Information | Up to 2,000 characters | Shown under the location on your public Locations page, and in a division's Locations section when its Show Locations Section is Yes. |
| Organization | Advanced Scheduling | The associated organization the location belongs to. Admins limited to an associated organization see only its locations. |
| Game Spacing | Advanced Scheduling; 0 to 180 minutes | "Used for advanced scheduling only.": the length Auto Assign cuts the location's available time into. |
| Show Publicly | Yes or No | Yes lists the location on your public Locations page. It's the same setting as the eye icon on Manage Locations. |
| Show Calendar | Yes or No | Lets the public open the location's calendar from your Locations page. "Requires location to be shown publicly." |
| First Game Flag and Last Game Flag | A checkbox each, with an optional message of up to 150 characters | "Enable first game flag on Schedules and add an optional message below." (and the same for the last game): arrows mark the day's first and last game at the location. |
| PM Location Identifier and PM Facility Identifier | PerfectMind integration; up to 38 characters each | "Location Identifier from PerfectMind" and "Facility Identifier from PerfectMind". |
| Your location custom fields | Custom fields with the Location category | Appear at the bottom of the Details tab, above Save. |
Below the Save and Delete (or Archive) buttons, organizations with Advanced Scheduling get two more sections:
- Associated Organizations: "Use this section to add or delete Associated Organizations assigned to this Location for scheduling." Click Add Associated Organization to add one, drag the rows to set their priority, and use the red X to remove one. Auto Assign uses a location only when this list has at least one organization.
- Age Groups: the age groups whose divisions Auto Assign may schedule at the location, in priority order. Click Add Age Group, drag to reorder, and use the red X to remove one.
A location's other tabs
| Tab | What's on it |
|---|---|
| Availability | Available Times (Set Availability) and Blocked Times (Block Times), each listed by Dates, Days, Time and Note, with Edit and Delete icons. Each entry is a Single Day or Recurring Days (a Start Date, End Date and days of the week), a Time and an optional Note. "If no availability is defined then TeamSideline assumes all times are available." |
| Calendar | The location's games, practices and blocked times. Subscribe to this Calendar gives a link to add the calendar to a calendar app. |
| Check-In | The location's check-in page, for organizations that use Check-In (Facility module). |
| Contact Lists | The Location Contact Lists the location is on (List Name, Number of Contacts, Number of Locations). Add To Contact List adds it to another one. Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans. |
Categories
On Manage Locations, click Categories. The list, "Categories (In Order Displayed On Public Site)", shows each category with its Last Updated date.
- Add Category: type a Category Name (up to 50 characters) and click Add ("The location category has been saved.").
- Edit (pencil): change the Category Name and click Save.
- Delete (red X): shown only for a category with no locations. Confirm "Are you sure you want to delete this category?" ("The location category has been deleted.").
- Drag the rows to set the order of the groups on Manage Locations and your public Locations page.
You can also pick or create a category on a location's Add Location form or Details tab, or for many locations at once with Update Multiple Locations (Location Details).
Location settings on other pages
| Where | Setting |
|---|---|
| Schedules > Configurations > General, Locations section | Category Grouping: Expanded or Collapsed, whether the category groups on your public Locations page start open or closed. Multi-Location Calendar: Show or Don't Show a Locations list (location, field and address) under your public Multi Location Calendar (Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise). Both apply to websites built with the legacy content editor. |
| Schedules > Locations > Update Condition Status | Each field's status, such as Open or Closed. See How to set field status (Location Conditions) and show it on your site. |
| Manage Locations > Update Multiple Locations | Availability, blocked times, category, organization, game spacing, Show Calendar, game flags and age groups for many locations at once (Elite and Enterprise). |
| Communications > Location Contact Lists | Lists of people to email about a location's games. See How to set up Location Contact Lists. |
If it doesn't work
- "The Category Name you input already exists. Please change the value in order to save." Choose that category from the list instead of typing it.
- "Please type a Category Name." (Edit Category) or "Please assign a Category Name for this location. You can create a new Category name, or select an existing Category name." (Add Category) Type a name before you save.
- There's no Categories button or Category field on Add Location. Your admin role doesn't include location categories, or doesn't include editing locations. Ask an Administrator.
- A category has no red X. Locations still use it. Move them to another category first.
- There's no Organization, Game Spacing, Associated Organizations or Age Groups. Your organization doesn't have Advanced Scheduling.
- A schedule's map link opens the wrong place. The game uses another location than you expect, or that location's address or Location URL is wrong. Check the game's location, then that location's Details tab.
- A location's Details tab shows an error. Its Game Spacing may have been set above 180 minutes with Update Multiple Locations, which the Details tab can't show. Set it back to 180 or less on Update Multiple Locations.
Good to know
- Administration > Import Data has no import for locations. Add them one at a time on Manage Locations, or ask TeamSideline Support to load a spreadsheet of your locations.
- The Location Availability import (Elite and Enterprise) only adds availability and blocked times; it never removes any. Importing the same file twice gives every location each entry twice.
- Each location stands alone. TeamSideline has no parent and child link between locations, so when fields share space (such as a full field and the smaller fields on it), block the times on each one.
- An orange chain link next to a location means it's linked to a location of another TeamSideline organization. TeamSideline Support sets these links up.
