TeamSideline doesn't have a QR code generator for your website, a page or a registration link. Copy the address of the page you want people to open, paste it into any QR code generator, and print the code large enough to scan. Test it with a phone before you print many copies.
Applies to: Org admins · All plans · Legacy content editor and Editor 2.0 websites, programs and Raise campaigns
Where: your website's pages; Raise > Dashboard; Reports > Report Dashboards > Raise P2P
Step 1: Copy the address the code should open
- Your website or one of its pages: on any admin page, click your organization's name at the top. Your website opens in a new tab. Go to the page and copy the whole address from your browser's address bar, starting with https://. On an Editor 2.0 website, copy it from the live website, not from the Site Editor (see the CMS page address article below).
- A program's registration: the admin site has no copy-link button for a program. On your website's registration page, click the program's More Info button and copy the address of the page that opens: it shows the program's details and its register button. If Hide More Info page is checked on the program's 1 Setup page, the program has no page of its own, so use the address of your registration page instead.
- A Raise Crowdfunding campaign: on Raise > Dashboard, click the View Public Page icon next to an active campaign, then click Copy link on the page that opens.
- A player's Raise page (Peer-to-Peer): on Reports > Report Dashboards > Raise P2P, click View Donation Page next to the player, then click Copy link. A Peer-to-Peer campaign has no campaign-wide page.
Step 2: Make and print the code
- Open a QR code generator in your web browser. Any one works.
- Paste the address and create the code.
- Download the code as an image and add it to your flyer, poster or document.
- Print it large enough to scan from where people will stand: about 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide or more on a flyer someone holds, and much larger on a poster or banner seen from a distance. Leave a plain light margin around it.
- Scan the printed code with a phone's camera and check that it opens the right page.
If it doesn't work
- The code opens your website's home page instead of a program. The program is hidden, or Hide More Info page is checked on its 1 Setup page; either way its page sends visitors to your home page. Make the program visible again, or make a code for your registration page.
- The code opens the wrong page or a page-not-found error. The page's address changed after you made the code, for example when a custom page was renamed or your organization's new Editor 2.0 website went live. Make a new code, or on an Editor 2.0 website add a redirect from the old address (see the CMS page address article).
- Phones don't recognize the code. Print it bigger, dark on a light background, with more blank space around it, and check that it isn't stretched or cut off.
- The View Public Page icon is dimmed. It works only for an active Crowdfunding campaign. For a Peer-to-Peer campaign, use Raise P2P (Step 1).
Good to know
- Choose a static code, one that holds your address itself. Some generators make dynamic codes that go through their own service first, and those can stop working when a free trial ends.
- A printed code can't be changed, but the address it opens can send people somewhere else later. On a legacy website with your own domain, point the code at a Vanity Link (Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise) and add the link again with the same name and a new destination when you need to. On an Editor 2.0 website, add a URL redirect.
- TeamSideline makes QR codes in two places of its own. Show QR Code, on Schedules > Configurations > General, adds a QR Code option to your division schedule pages that shows a code for that division's schedule. Location Check-In's Print View prints a code people scan to check in at a location.
