You choose a payment plan when you register: under Payment Options, pick 1st Payment of $(amount). You pay the first payment at checkout, and the card you pay with is charged the rest automatically on the scheduled dates. To see your payment dates or change the card, sign in on your organization's website and open My Account > Payment Plans.
Applies to: Parents, players and other account holders · Organizations that offer a payment plan on a program · Card payments on your organization's website
Where: Your organization's website > Sign In > My Account > Place Order (to choose a plan); My Account > Payment Plans (to see it or change the card)
Choose a payment plan when you register
- Go to your organization's website and click Sign In.
- Go to My Account > Place Order, or use the registration link your organization gave you.
- If you see I would like to, choose Enroll in a Program.
- In Enrollee, choose the family member you're registering.
- In Enrollment Type, choose the type of registration, for example Player.
- Choose the Program, then the Offering (and the Session(s) for a camp).
- In Payment Options, choose 1st Payment of $(amount) to use the payment plan, or Full Cost of $(amount) to pay everything now. For a camp, the choices are Payment Plan and Full Cost.
- Click Add Enrollment. Your cart notes "***Payment Plan: 1st Payment of $(amount) required on checkout only."
- Click Proceed to Checkout, answer the program's questions, accept any terms and click Done.
- On the checkout page, check the Payment Plan list under the registration, which shows each Scheduled Payment Date and Amount, and the Amount to be Paid, which is what you pay today.
- Enter your billing and card details and click Place Order.
What you'll see: the order confirmation lists the plan's payments with their dates, amounts and status. Each later payment is charged on its date as its own order, and you get an order confirmation email for it.
What you pay at checkout
- The plan's first payment. If you register late for a plan with set payment dates, the payments whose dates have already passed are added to it, and the cart says how many payments are due now.
- Add-ons and everything else in your cart, in full. Add-ons such as jerseys or raffle tickets aren't part of the payment plan, even when you buy them with the registration.
- A Non-Resident Fee, if your organization charges you one, in full with the first payment.
- A processing fee, if your organization passes it on to families. It's added to each scheduled payment too.
See your upcoming payment dates
- Sign in on your organization's website.
- Go to My Account > Payment Plans. It's in the menu once your account has a payment plan.
What you'll see: each plan with its Payment Plan number, Payment Plan Type (Recurring Credit Card, or Check/Cash for a plan your organization collects itself), Total Amount and Credit Card (the card's type and last four digits, and a (change) link). Under each plan are its payments, each with a Scheduled Payment Date, Payment Amount, Status and, once it's charged, an Order #. The Status is Pending (still to come), Processed (paid), Failed (the card couldn't be charged) or Canceled (won't be charged).
A few days before each payment (within five days of it), every parent on the account who has an email address gets an "Upcoming Payment Plan Payments Notification" email listing the remaining payments and the last four digits of the card. In My Account > Order History, the magnifying glass next to your registration order opens its details, which list the plan's payments too.
Change the card on your plan
- Sign in and go to My Account > Payment Plans.
- Click (change) next to the card in the Credit Card column.
- Check that it's the right plan: the page shows its Program, Enrollee Name and Total Amount, and the Existing Card Number and Existing Card Status.
- Under Updated Billing Information, change the name, address, Zip Code, phone and email to match the new card. They start from the account's primary parent.
- Enter the new card under Updated Credit Card Information.
- Click Update Payment.
What you'll see: "Payment Plan payment method updated." and you're back on Payment Plans. The new card is charged for every remaining payment. If a payment failed, the next daily payment run tries the plan's most recent failed payment again on the new card, as long as it failed within the last 14 days.
Why the (change) link is missing
The card and its (change) link appear only on a card plan that's still active and has at least one Pending payment. They're gone when:
- The plan is finished. Every payment has been charged.
- The plan was canceled. Your organization canceled it, or it stopped by itself because the registration was canceled or moved to another program, it was paid in full, or your account no longer owed anything. Its unpaid payments show Canceled.
- No payment is still Pending. For example, the plan's last payment failed, or the remaining payments were canceled.
- It's a Check/Cash plan. Your organization collects those payments itself, so there's no card to change.
If you still owe money, you can pay it yourself with Pay Balance on My Account > Order History (or the red Balance Due tile) when your organization offers it. See How do I pay a balance I owe? (parents). Otherwise, contact your organization.
If it doesn't work
- There's no Payment Options box when you register. This offering doesn't have a payment plan right now: your organization hasn't set one up for the current registration period, its payment dates have all passed, the program takes checks only, or the registration is free or for a volunteer or sponsor. Contact your organization.
- "Please select a Payment Option." Choose the 1st Payment or Full Cost option before you click Add Enrollment.
- There's no Payment Plans item under My Account. Your account doesn't have a payment plan. Check that you're signed in with the account you registered with.
- A payment shows Failed. You'll get a "Payment Plan Payment was not processed" email giving the reason. After "Non sufficient funds" or "Bank declined for unknown reason", the payment is tried again automatically about every three days, for up to nine days after its date. After "Invalid or Expired Card on file", change the card as above, or pay the amount with Pay Balance. If you pay a failed payment another way, tell your organization so it can cancel that payment and it isn't charged again.
- "A zip code is required." Enter the card's 5-digit billing Zip Code.
- "Credit Card Type selection is invalid." Your organization doesn't accept that type of card. Use one of the cards shown next to Updated Credit Card Information.
- "Invalid Payment configuration. Please contact TeamSideline Support." The card can't be changed online for this organization. Contact your organization.
Good to know
- You can't change payment dates or amounts, or cancel a plan, yourself. Contact your organization: an admin can move or skip a payment, or cancel the plan.
- Payment plans are paid by card. A payment is never more than your account owes: if you owe less than the payment, it's lowered to what you owe, and the plan stops when nothing is owed.
- A credit on your account doesn't lower each payment. It's counted at the end, so the last payment is smaller, or the last payments are canceled.
- To pay off a plan early, pay the rest with Pay Balance, if your organization offers it. The plan stops by itself before its next payment once the registration is paid in full or your account owes nothing.
- Payments from two plans that are due on the same day and use the same saved card, for example two children registered in one checkout, can be charged together as one order.
- If your organization blocks new orders while a balance is owed, payments still to come on an active plan don't count as a balance owed.
