Short answer
No. TeamSideline does not support adding a login email address to a youth (Player) profile. Player/child records are not login accounts, and the TeamSideline mobile app does not currently support communication with users designated as Players (youth). Sign-in, emails, and app access are all tied to the adult (Parent/Guardian) account that enrolled the child.
If a player needs their own access, use the workaround below: add them to the family account as an additional Parent using their own name and email address.
Why player profiles don't have a login email
- Accounts are adult-based. Access to your Organization site and Team Site is based on the email address of the adult who enrolled the child. Youth members exist on that account as enrollees, not as separate logins.
- The app is intended for parents/guardians, coaches, and officials. Support has consistently advised that the app does not support communication with minors at this time, citing minor-communication considerations.
- Player records only capture limited information. A youth member on a Customer Account holds information such as name and date of birth; there is no login email/password for that record.
This is a known enhancement request. Player-level login and communication is on the roadmap. Support can add your Organization to the interested list — see "Requesting the enhancement" below.
Workaround 1 (Recommended): Have the player sign in with the parent's login
Support's first recommendation in several cases is simply to have the minor sign in to the app using the parent/guardian's email address and password. This gives the player the same view the parent has, with no extra account setup.
Workaround 2: Add the player as an additional Parent on the account
Add the player as a parent to the account. The player is listed on the account twice — once as the youth Player (used for enrollment/rostering) and once as an adult member with their own email address, which gives them their own sign-in and communications.
Parents can do this themselves:
- Go to your Organization's site and click Sign In in the upper left-hand corner.
- Log in with your email address and password.
- Go to My Account > Members.
- Click the Add Parent button.
- Enter the required information, using the player's name and their own unique email address (and phone number, if you want them to receive texts/notifications).
- Click Save.
Organization Admins can do the same thing:
- From the Admin Site Map, go to Customers > Account Management > Search.
- Search for and open the Customer Account of the person who registered.
- From the Account Overview, click Add Parent.
- Enter the required fields (player's name + their unique email address).
- Click Add.
Important notes:
- This must be done on the web version of your site — not in the app or on the Team Site.
- The email address must be unique. If it is already used by another TeamSideline account you will see an "this email address is already in use" error; contact your Organization admin or TeamSideline Support to sort out the duplicate account.
- Do not remove or replace the youth Player record. Keep the child listed as a Player so enrollment and rostering still work, and select the youth member when registering for programs.
- Once the additional "parent" is on the account, they are picked up automatically when the Team Site is published and will receive communications like the primary account holder.
A youth Player record cannot be converted into a parent/adult account — you must add them as an additional Parent.
Requesting the enhancement
If your Organization wants players to have their own login and communications, contact TeamSideline Support and ask to be added to the existing enhancement request for player/minor app access. Support tracks a list of interested Organizations, and that list is used to prioritize the feature.
Related situations
- A minor needs to volunteer as a coach or assistant coach. Only adults/parents can enroll in volunteer roles. Add the minor as an additional Parent on their family account, then enroll the parent record in the volunteer role.
- The wrong email came across from an ActiveNet sync. If a child's email was applied to the family account, the email can be corrected directly in TeamSideline. Contact Support if it keeps recurring.
