To copy a page, open it in Content > Page Edit, click Copy Page, type a New Page Name and click Copy. TeamSideline makes a new page with the same content, which you can edit and then add to your menu in Content > Configurations > Site Pages.
Applies to: Org admins and content editors · All plans · Legacy content editor
Where: Content > Page Edit (Copy Page); Content > Configurations > Site Pages
Copy a page
- Go to Content > Page Edit.
- In Page to Edit, choose the page you want to copy. If you've just changed it, click Save first: Copy Page copies the page as it was last saved.
- Click Copy Page. A New Page Name box opens below the buttons.
- Type a name for the new page, up to 50 characters. It can't be the name of a page you already have.
- Click Copy.
What you'll see: "Page content copied." Page Edit opens the new page with the same content as the original. In Page to Edit, it's listed under Standalone Pages.
Edit the new page
- With the new page open in Page Edit, change its text, pictures and links.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "Page content updated." The copy is a separate page: changing it doesn't change the original, and changing the original doesn't change the copy.
Add the new page to your menu
A copy starts as a Standalone Page. It's on your website, but it isn't in your menu, so visitors can reach it only through a link.
- Go to Content > Configurations > Site Pages.
- Find the new page under Standalone Pages.
- Drag it into Menu Pages, or into a page group, where you want it in your menu. For a page only signed-in members or only your admins should see, drag it into User Secured Pages or Admin Secured Pages instead.
- To rename it, double-click its name, type the new name and click outside it.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "The changes to your menus have been saved." To link to a Standalone Page from another page instead, use the Links drop-down in Page Edit, which lists Standalone Pages.
Copy content into a page you already have
Copy Page always makes a new page. To put one page's content into a page that already exists, copy its HTML in the editor view. This needs the Switch to Editor button at the top of Page Edit; if you don't have it, use Copy Page instead.
- In Page to Edit, choose the page to copy from.
- Click Switch to Editor. If the button says Switch to Content Builder, you're already in the editor view.
- Click HTML at the bottom of the editor, select all the code (Ctrl+A) and copy it (Ctrl+C).
- In Page to Edit, choose the page to copy into.
- Click HTML at the bottom of the editor, select all of that page's code and paste over it (Ctrl+V).
- Click Save. You'll see "Page content updated."
Page Edit remembers which view you used. To go back to the drag-and-drop view, click Switch to Content Builder.
If it doesn't work
- "New Page Name is required." Type a name in New Page Name, then click Copy.
- "You cannot use the name "(name)" because it is already in use on a Custom Page." One of your pages already has that name, whatever the capital letters. Choose a different name.
- The copy doesn't have your latest changes. Copy Page copies the last saved version of the original. Make the changes on the copy and click Save.
- The new page isn't in your website's menu. Copies start under Standalone Pages. Drag the page into Menu Pages on Site Pages and click Save.
- "You cannot use the name "(name)" because it contains the character "+"." Site Pages doesn't allow a plus sign in a page name. Leave it out when you name or rename a page, and avoid other symbols such as &.
- There's no Switch to Editor button. Your organization or admin role uses only the drag-and-drop view. Use Copy Page to make the new page.
- You can't open Page Edit or Site Pages. Your admin role doesn't include them. Ask an admin who manages your website.
Good to know
- The copy starts as a Standalone Page even when you copy a User Secured or Admin Secured page, so anyone with its link can open it. If it should be private, drag it into User Secured Pages or Admin Secured Pages on Site Pages and click Save.
- Copy Page copies the page's content only. The new page gets its own name and its own place in Site Pages.
- Websites built with Editor 2.0 don't use Page Edit; their pages are managed in the Site Editor.
