A child organization can show its parent organization's game schedules in two places: on its public website, by linking the parent's divisions under Administration > Associated Organizations, and on each team's Team Site, by linking that team's schedule with Manage Linked Schedules. TeamSideline Support has to link the two sites before you can link divisions.
Applies to: Org admins of child organizations and Team Site staff (coaches and managers) · All plans · Parent and child (associated) organizations
Where: Administration > Associated Organizations > Shared Organizations (Link Schedules icon); on a Team Site: Events > Manage Linked Schedules
Before you start
- The parent organization lists your organization on its own Administration > Associated Organizations page, and TeamSideline Support then sets that entry's Linked Organization to your site. Organization admins can't set this field themselves, so the parent organization (or you) asks TeamSideline Support at support@teamsideline.com to link the two sites.
- When the link is in place, the parent appears under Shared Organizations on your Associated Organizations page. On the parent's site, your row shows your site's address in the Linked TeamSideline Site column instead of "Not Linked".
- The parent organization must create its schedules and make the divisions visible before they show on your site or in Team Site searches.
Part 1: Show the parent's divisions on your public site (league admin)
- Go to Administration > Associated Organizations.
- Under Shared Organizations, find the parent organization and click its Link Schedules (calendar) icon. The page that opens is titled with the parent's name.
- Click Add Division.
- In League, choose the parent's league.
- In Division, choose one division, or All Divisions.
- Click Add. The division is added to the list (Season, League Name, Division Name).
- Repeat for any other leagues or divisions you want to show.
To remove one division, click its Delete Record icon and confirm. To remove every linked division from this parent, click Delete All and confirm "Are you sure you want to delete all Linked Schedules?".
What you'll see
- The linked leagues and divisions appear in your public site's schedule menu alongside your own. A division the parent hasn't made visible yet stays hidden on your site, then appears automatically once the parent makes it visible.
- Scores, dates and times always come from the parent's schedule, so changes the parent makes show on your site automatically.
- If your site uses the home page Game Scroller gadget (Content > Configurations > General > Game Scroller Gadget, legacy content editor), games from linked divisions are included.
- To show linked divisions together with your own league of the same name and season, set Merge Linked Sched. to Yes under Schedules > Configurations > General.
Part 2: Show a team's games on its Team Site
Linking divisions in Part 1 doesn't add games to Team Sites. Each Team Site needs its own link. Decide who does this for each team, the league admin or the team's coach or manager, so everyone knows who maintains it.
As the league admin, for a team in one of your programs
- Go to Programs > Manage Programs, click the program, and open 5 Team Sites.
- Click the orange Open Team Site (home) icon next to the team. It shows once the team's Team Site has been created, and the Team Site opens in a new tab.
- Click the Events tab, then Manage Linked Schedules.
- Click Find Schedules to Add.
- In Team Name, type the team's name as it appears on the parent organization's site, not the name used on your own site. At least 3 characters; part of the name works.
- In Organization Name, type the parent organization's name (at least 3 characters).
- Click Search.
- Click the green plus (Link) icon on each schedule you want. Regular season, 2nd half, playoff and practice schedules are separate rows. You'll see "The schedule has been linked and all the games will be shown on the Events page."
As a coach or manager
- Sign in and open your Team Home page.
- Click the Events tab, then Manage Linked Schedules.
- Follow steps 4 to 8 above.
If it doesn't work
- Shared Organizations says "No organizations have enabled sharing." TeamSideline Support hasn't linked the sites yet. Ask the parent organization or TeamSideline Support.
- "League required." Choose a League before you click Add. Only the parent's active leagues are listed.
- A linked division doesn't show on your site. The parent hasn't made the division visible yet, or its league is no longer active. It appears automatically once it's visible.
- Find Schedules to Add shows "No results found." Check the team's name as the parent's site spells it and the parent's organization name. Results include only visible divisions in active leagues that already have a schedule. If the list seems cut short, type more of the team name; the search shows up to 25 rows.
- "Team Name is required.", "Team Name must have at least 3 characters.", "Organization Name is required." or "Organization Name must have at least 3 characters." Fill in both boxes with at least 3 characters.
- The icon is an orange link ("Schedule already linked"). That schedule is already linked to this Team Site, so it can't be linked twice.
- There's no Manage Linked Schedules button. Only Team Site staff see it, and only while the Team Site's season is active.
- Games show twice on the Team Site. The Team Site gets the same games from two links, for example a schedule your organization published from 5 Team Sites plus a link to the parent's schedule. On Manage Linked Schedules, click Delete on the extra link you added and confirm "Are you sure you want to delete this schedule link?". You'll see "The schedule and all associated events have been removed." Links created by publishing from 5 Team Sites are managed by your organization, so their Delete icon is grayed out on this page.
Good to know
- All Divisions links the divisions the league has right now. If the parent adds a division later, add it too.
- The Team Site search looks across active TeamSideline organizations by name, so Part 2 doesn't depend on the Support link in Part 1.
- Games placed in a time slot created without a known day, time or location don't show on Team Sites until they're moved to a regular time slot.
- TeamSideline Support can link the two sites for you; admins at the parent organization manage its leagues, divisions and visibility.
