To change the text, pictures and links on a page of your website, go to Content > Page Edit, choose the page in Page to Edit, make your changes and click Save. Your changes show on your website as soon as you save.
Applies to: Org admins and content editors · All plans · Legacy content editor
Where: Content > Page Edit
Edit a page
- Go to Content > Page Edit. It opens your home page's text first.
- In Page to Edit, choose the page you want to change.
- Click the text you want to change and type. A toolbar appears for the part you click.
- To add a heading, text, picture or button, drag a block from the panel of ready-made blocks onto the page. The blocks are grouped as Basic, Article, Headlines, Buttons, Images and more.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "Page content updated." Open or refresh the page on your website to see the change.
What's in the Page to Edit list
- Menu Pages: the custom pages in your menu, and your home page text.
- Sections: text areas on TeamSideline's built-in pages, such as Schedules Page - Header Section, Game Schedules Page - Header Section (the text above your public game schedules) and Sponsors Page - Header Section, and the instructions on the cart, store, donations and order confirmation (Cart Page - Instructions Section, Store Page - Instructions Section, Donations Page - Instructions Section and Order Confirm - Instructions Section, which shows on every order confirmation).
- Standalone Pages, User Secured Pages, Admin Secured Pages and, for pages you've archived, Archived Secured Pages.
Built-in pages such as Game Schedules or the Store aren't in the list: TeamSideline builds them, and you edit only their sections here. To add a page, rename one or change your menu, use Content > Configurations > Site Pages.
Format text, add links and pictures
- Text: the toolbar has bold, italic, underline, alignment, color, paragraph styles such as headings, font, lists, text size and remove formatting.
- Links to your site: highlight the words, click the Links/Assets button and click the page, file, program or schedule on the Links tab. The Assets tab lists files from Content > Assets.
- Links to another website: highlight the words and use the link option in the toolbar's More menu, then paste the address.
- Pictures: use the image button or a block from Images. Pictures are uploaded with the page when you click Save.
- Image Rotator, Content Table and Photo Gallery: these buttons insert one you've already set up in Content > Image Rotators, Content Tables or Photo Galleries.
- Clear Page Contents empties the page after you click OK on "Are you sure you want to clear the page contents?". Your website doesn't change until you click Save.
- Copy Page makes a new page with the same content. See How to copy a page (Legacy content editor).
Use the editor view or edit the HTML
If your admin role includes the Legacy Editor permission, Page Edit has a Switch to Editor button. The editor view works like a word processor. Its toolbar has fonts, colors, bold, alignment, lists, tables, a horizontal line, the Hyperlink Manager, Image Manager (pictures up to about 10 MB), Image Map, Document Manager and external video. It also has the Links, Content Tables, Image Rotators and Photo Galleries drop-downs.
- Click Switch to Editor.
- To work with the page's code, click HTML at the bottom of the editor. Click Design to go back.
- Click Save.
Page Edit remembers the view you used last. Click Switch to Content Builder to go back to the drag-and-drop view.
If it doesn't work
- You don't see a toolbar. Click inside the text you want to change; the toolbar appears for the part you select. If the page is empty, drag a block onto it first. If it still doesn't appear, turn off browser extensions that change text boxes, such as grammar checkers, and reload the page.
- Save keeps showing "Processing..." or you get an error page. The page is too large to save, usually because of large photos: pictures added in this view are sent with the page when you save. Shrink photos before you add them, then add a few at a time and click Save after each batch, because a saved picture isn't sent again. In the editor view, upload pictures with the Image Manager instead.
- Pasted text looks wrong or keeps odd formatting. Text copied from Word or another website brings hidden formatting with it. Paste it into Notepad (or another plain-text editor) first, then copy it from there.
- A page isn't in Page to Edit. Your admin user may be limited to certain pages by Filters on your user record. Ask an admin who manages users. Built-in pages aren't listed either.
- There's no Switch to Editor button. Your admin role doesn't include the Legacy Editor permission. Use the drag-and-drop view.
- You can't open Page Edit. Your admin role doesn't include Page Edit. Ask an admin who manages your website.
- Your changes don't show on your website. Make sure you clicked Save and saw "Page content updated." If your organization's new Editor 2.0 website is live, visitors are sent to it, so Page Edit changes no longer show.
Good to know
- Press Shift+Enter for a line break without the extra space of a new paragraph.
- Leaving Page Edit without clicking Save discards your changes.
- Websites built with Editor 2.0 are edited in the Site Editor instead; this article covers the legacy content editor.
