You can sell sponsorships three ways: as Buy Items on your Store or Donations page (or as an add-on during registration), as sponsorship levels in a youth program's Sponsorships section, or as the offerings of an Adult Registration program you set up just for sponsors. Choose by when sponsors should be able to pay and what you need to collect from them.
Applies to: Org admins · All plans · Store and Donations; Youth Registration, Youth & Adult Registration and Adult Registration programs
Where: Programs > Configurations > Buy Items/Add-Ons; Programs > Store/Donations Setup; Programs > Manage Programs > (program) > 2 Configuration > Sponsorships

Option 1: Sell sponsorships as Buy Items
- Go to Programs > Configurations > Buy Items/Add-Ons and click Add Buy Item.
- Enter the Item Name, such as Gold Sponsor, the Item Description and the Item Cost. To let sponsors choose the amount, set Variable Cost to Yes and enter a Lowest Cost and Highest Cost.
- To ask for the business name to list, turn on Text Input.
- In Order Copy To, enter the email address of whoever manages sponsors, so they get a copy of each order.
- Click Save.
- Go to Programs > Store/Donations Setup, choose the Storefront (Store or Donations), click Add Item, choose the item in Buy Item and click Add.
Shoppers sign in to buy from the Store. On the Donations page, sponsors can pay without an account if Guest Checkout is Yes on Programs > Configurations > Store/Donations. Your website must show the Store or Donations page; see the related articles.
To offer a sponsorship while families register a player, open the program's 2 Configuration page and, under Add-Ons (add Buy Items to Enrollment Offerings), click Add Add-On. Choose the Offering, the Enrollment Type, the sponsorship item in Buy Item, and No in Required?.
Option 2: Add sponsorship levels to a youth program
- Go to Programs > Manage Programs, open a Youth Registration or Youth & Adult Registration program and go to 2 Configuration.
- Scroll to Sponsorships and click Add Sponsorship.
- Enter the Sponsorship Desc (up to 40 characters), such as Gold Sponsor, and the Sponsorship Cost.
- Click Add. Repeat for each level. Use the pencil icon to edit a level and the red X to delete it.
- To collect sponsor details, such as the business name, website or a logo file, scroll to Enrollment Fields and click Add Enrollment Field. Choose the field, set Enrollment Type to Sponsorship, choose the Offering and click Add.
- Optional: under Terms & Conditions, add terms with the Sponsorship enrollment type.
What sponsors see: when an adult on an account registers, the Enrollment Type list includes Sponsor. They choose the program, one of its open offerings (your age groups), and their level in Enrollment Selection, then click Add Enrollment. The cart shows "Sponsorship", the program, the offering, the level and their name, at the level's cost.
Option 3: Set up a sponsorship program
- Create an Adult Registration program for sponsors, such as 2027 Sponsorships.
- Add an offering for each level, such as Gold or Silver, with its price, and registration dates that cover your whole sponsorship season.
- Add enrollment fields for the sponsor details you need.
- Optional: add add-ons, such as an extra banner, under Add-Ons on 2 Configuration.
- Make the program visible on Programs > Manage Programs.
Sponsors register like any adult: Enrollment Type General, your sponsorship program, and the offering for their level.
Keep sponsorships available all season
Options 2 and 3 are sold through program registration, so they appear only while the program is visible, its registration is open and at least one offering is open. To keep selling after registration closes, keep one offering open for the whole season, or sell sponsorships as Buy Items (option 1), which stay available as long as they're on your Store or Donations page.
What you'll see
Option 1 purchases are Store or Donations orders, and each one is copied to the Order Copy To addresses. Options 2 and 3 purchases are enrollments: to list option 2 sponsors, go to Reports > Report Exports > Enrollment Information and set Type to Sponsor, or use Reports > Report Dashboards > Enrollments with Enrollment Type Sponsor. Option 3 sponsors are listed with the program's other enrollments.
If it doesn't work
- 2 Configuration has no Sponsorships section. Only Youth Registration and Youth & Adult Registration programs have it, and your admin role must include the Sponsorships section. For other program types, use option 3.
- Sponsors don't see Sponsor in the Enrollment Type list. The program needs at least one sponsorship level, must be visible, and must have registration open. The Enrollee must be an adult on the account, not a child.
- The Offering list is empty for a sponsor. None of the program's offerings is open. Open one, or extend its registration dates.
- Sponsors aren't offered your add-ons. Add-ons can't be set for the Sponsorship enrollment type. Use option 3 or a Buy Item instead.
- "Please enter a Description." or "Please enter a Cost." Fill in both boxes before clicking Add.
- "Please enter a valid Cost." Enter the cost as a number, such as 250 or 250.00, without a dollar sign.
- "Duplicate 'Sponsorship Description' and 'Sponsorship Cost' combinations are not allowed." That level already exists. Change its description or cost.
Good to know
- Option 2 sponsorships don't count toward the program's maximum enrollment, and they skip the program's boundary check.
- Showing sponsors' logos on your website is a separate task; see the sponsor page article below.
- When a sponsorship covers a player's fees, the money can sit as credit on the family's account and be used at checkout if Apply Credit is turned on at Programs > Configurations > General; see the Apply Credit article below.
