To let people give from your Donations page without signing in or creating an account, set Guest Checkout to Yes on Programs > Configurations > Store/Donations. It works for the Donations page only: Store purchases, registrations and facility reservations still need a signed-in account.
Applies to: Org admins · All plans · Donations page on the legacy content editor or Editor 2.0, with a card payment gateway
Where: Programs > Configurations > Store/Donations > Guest Checkout
Turn on Guest Checkout
- Go to Programs > Configurations > Store/Donations.
- In the Order section, set Guest Checkout to Yes. The note beside it reads "Guest checkout does not require a user to sign in (applies to Donations storefront)".
- Click Save. You'll see "Configurations have been saved."
To turn it off, set Guest Checkout to No and click Save. Donors then sign in, or create an account, to check out.
What donors see
- On the Donations page, and on a donation item's own page, the buttons become one: Add & Checkout. Add To Cart and Checkout are hidden.
- Add & Checkout opens a checkout page where the donor enters First Name, Last Name, Street Address, City, State, Zip Code, Phone and Email, then card details, and clicks Place Order. Guest checkout takes cards only.
- Donors who are signed in go through the same page, with their details already filled in.
- The donation is recorded on the customer account that has the email address entered. If there isn't one, a new account is created with the donor's name, address, phone and email, but no sign-in. The donor gets the order confirmation email, and the order shows the gift as "Donation Item: (item name)".
Sell items without accounts
There's no guest checkout for the Store. To sell something such as event or raffle tickets to people without accounts, offer it from the Donations page instead:
- Go to Programs > Store/Donations Setup, choose Donations in Storefront and click Add Item.
- In Buy Item, choose the item and click Add.
- Rename the Donations page, for example to Online Store. On a legacy website, go to Content > Configurations > Site Pages, double-click the Donations page, type the new name and click Save. On an Editor 2.0 website, rename the page in Content > Site Editor and click Republish; if its name can't be changed there, contact TeamSideline Support.
What you'll see: buyers check out without an account. Their orders and confirmation emails list each purchase as "Donation Item: (item name)", so choose item names that make sense with that.
Fundraising campaigns: use Raise
For a fundraiser with a goal, its own donation page or a page for each player, use TeamSideline Raise instead of the Donations page. Raise donors never sign in: they enter their name, email address and card details. See What is TeamSideline Raise? under Related articles.
If it doesn't work
- "No payment gateway setup. Please contact TeamSideline support." when you save: Guest Checkout needs a card payment gateway. Contact TeamSideline Support.
- Donors are still asked to sign in. Guest Checkout is No, or they're buying from the Store page, which always needs an account. Check the setting, and put items for guests on the Donations storefront.
- A donor wants to remove or change an item. The guest checkout page has no way to remove or change an item, and opening the cart asks them to sign in. They can sign in or create an account and change the cart there, or contact you to cancel the gift after it's placed.
- "Invalid "Order Copy To" entry. Use commas to separate email addresses if more than one." An address in Order Copy To, on the same page, isn't valid. Fix it and click Save.
Good to know
- Guest Checkout applies to the Donations storefront only. Store purchases, program registrations and facility reservations always need a signed-in account.
- Guest checkout pays for everything in the visitor's cart. A Store item they added earlier in the same visit is bought along with the donation.
- To find a guest's donation later, for example to refund it, search Customers > Account Management by the email address they entered.
- Order Copy To, on the same page, sends a copy of every Store and Donations order to the email addresses you list.
