When your league turns on Schedule Changes, a team's coach can move the team's games to a new date, time or location. Sign in on your organization's website, open your team under Team Information, and click the Edit icon (pencil) next to the game in the Schedule Changes section.
Applies to: Coaches who are a team's contact, and league admins · Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans (Coach Sign-In) · League divisions (regular season and 2nd half games)
Where: Your organization's website > Team Information > (your team) > Schedule Changes. Admins: Schedules > Configurations > General > Coach Sign-In
Before you start
- Sign in on your organization's website, not on a Team Site or in the TeamSideline app.
- Your team is listed under Team Information only if the email address you sign in with is the team's Primary Email or Alternate Email in the league's team list. If it isn't, ask your league administrator to update it.
- The Schedule Changes section appears only when your league has turned it on and your division's regular season or 2nd half schedule is visible on the website.
- Agree on the new date, time and location with your league administrator and the other team first. TeamSideline doesn't check a coach's change against other games or the location's availability.
Change a game's date, time or location
- Sign in on your organization's website.
- Under Team Information, click your team.
- Scroll to Schedule Changes ("Use this section to make schedule changes for upcoming games."). It lists your team's home and away games that don't have a score or other result yet.
- Click the Edit icon (pencil) on the game's row. The Schedule Change page opens with the game's Teams, Date, Time and Location.
- Change the Date, the Time or the Location. The Location list shows your league's locations.
- Click Update.
What you'll see: your team page again, with "The game has been updated." The game shows its new date, time and location on the league's schedule and on Team Sites that link the league's schedule. To leave without changing anything, click Cancel.
What happens after you change a game
- Game change email: if your league has turned on game change emails for your division (On Game Change), TeamSideline emails the change about 5 to 10 minutes after the last save, to the teams and other contacts your league chose. Several quick changes go out together in one email.
- Scoring emails: if your division uses Auto Coach Scoring, any scoring requests already sent for the game, and any score a coach already sent, are cleared. The scoring emails start over after the game's new date and time.
- Officials: if officials are assigned to the game, their assignments move with it, and confirmed assignments go back to Pending.
For league admins: turn on Schedule Changes
- Go to Schedules > Configurations > General.
- Under Coach Sign-In, set Enable Coach Sign-In to Yes.
- Set Schedule Changes to Yes ("Enables coaches to change Organization Site schedule games where they are either the HOME or AWAY team.").
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "The global scheduling configurations have been updated." Then check each division your coaches use:
- The division's schedule is visible: its eye icon on Schedules > Leagues & Divisions is green ("Schedule Visible"). 2nd half games are listed only when the division's 2nd half eye icon is green.
- Each team's Primary Email or Alternate Email on the division's 2 Teams page is the address its coach signs in with.
- Optional: to email changes automatically, set On Game Change to Yes on the division's 1 Configuration > Communication page.
Coach Sign-In and Schedule Changes are part of the Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans. On other plans these settings are grayed out with an upgrade icon ("This feature is part of an upgraded package.").
If it doesn't work
- There's no Team Information menu, or your team isn't in it. Coach Sign-In is off, the league is archived, or the email address you signed in with isn't the team's Primary Email or Alternate Email. Ask your league administrator.
- There's no Schedule Changes section on your team page. Schedule Changes is off, or the division's schedule isn't visible on the website yet.
- The game isn't listed. Schedule Changes lists only regular season and 2nd half games without a result. Playoff games, canceled games and games that already have a score can't be changed here. Ask your league administrator.
- "The game could not be updated." The game is locked, the new date is before the first week of the division's schedule, or the league's schedule was saved again after you opened the game. Go back to your team page, open the game again and retry. If it still fails, ask your league administrator to make the change.
- "Date field is required." or "Time field is required." Enter both a date and a time, then click Update.
Good to know
- Both teams' coaches can change a game: the home team's and the away team's.
- A change is saved as soon as you click Update. There's no undo; to put a game back, change it again.
- If the new day, time and location don't match one of the division's time slots, TeamSideline adds that time slot to the division's 3 Time Slots page.
- Coaches can also change their team's practices in the Practice Changes section of the same page when the league turns that on.
