To delete a customer account, open it from Customers > Account Management > Search, click Delete on Account Overview and confirm. The Delete button appears only when the account has no transactions at all: an account that has ever registered, ordered or had a payment recorded can't be deleted, so deactivate it instead.
Applies to: Org admins with the Delete Customer permission · All plans · Customer (family) accounts
Where: Customers > Account Management > Search > (customer) > Account Overview > Delete
Delete an account
- Go to Customers > Account Management > Search.
- Search for the customer and click their name in the results to open Account Overview.
- Click Delete, next to Place Order at the top of the page.
- In the Delete Account box, "Are you sure you want to delete this Account?", click OK.
What you'll see: "Customer account deleted." and the Search page. The account, with its parents and players, no longer appears in your searches.
What deleting does and doesn't do
- It removes the account and its members from your organization's customer records. There's no undo in the admin site, so check that you have the right account first.
- It doesn't delete the person's TeamSideline sign-in. Their email address and password still work on TeamSideline sites, including yours.
- If they sign in on your website again, TeamSideline creates a new, empty account for them, without the old members. That's expected; it isn't the old account coming back.
- To ask for a person's data to be removed from TeamSideline altogether, for example their sign-in, contact TeamSideline Support.
If it doesn't work: why the Delete button is missing
- The account has transactions. Any order adds one, even a free registration or a volunteer sign-up, and so does any payment, refund, credit or fee. Canceling a registration doesn't remove its transactions. Deactivate the account instead (below).
- Your admin role doesn't have the Delete Customer permission. Ask an admin who manages users, or an admin who has it.
Instead of deleting
- Deactivate the account when it shouldn't be used any more: on Account Overview, click Account Settings, check Yes, deactivate this account and save. Its history is kept, and you can reactivate it later. A family who signs in to a deactivated account sees "Your account is inactive. Please click the Contact Us button to contact (your organization) for help on reactivating your account." You can deactivate only when the account's balance is $0, and you need the Deactivate Customer Account permission.
- Merge duplicate accounts when a family has two accounts: Merge Accounts moves everything into the account they'll keep and removes the other.
- Delete one person instead of the whole account: under Account Members, click the red X (Delete Member) next to them and confirm. It's grayed out ("This member cannot be deleted.") for the primary account holder and for anyone with a registration or an active membership.
Good to know
- Families can't delete their own account on your website. They contact you, and you delete or deactivate it.
- Deleting or deactivating a family's account doesn't remove any admin access that person has to your site; that's managed under Administration > Manage Users.
