A sibling discount takes a flat dollar amount off the registration fee of each additional child a family registers. Set it on the program's 1 Setup page: choose Across Program(s) or Within Offering in Sibling Discount Type, and enter the Sibling Discount Amt.
Applies to: Admins · All plans · Youth Registration programs with Standard Pricing
Where: Programs > Manage Programs > (program) > 1 Setup
Set up the discount
- Go to Programs > Manage Programs, click the program's name and open 1 Setup.
- In Sibling Discount Type, choose Across Program(s) or Within Offering (see the table below).
- In Sibling Discount Amt, enter the dollar amount to take off each additional child's fee, for example 10.00. It's a flat amount, not a percent. Enter 0 for no sibling discount.
- Click Save. You'll see "Program has been saved."
| Sibling Discount Type | Who gets the discount |
|---|---|
| Across Program(s) | Each additional child registered in any offering of this program, and of programs you link to it. The most common choice, even for a single program. |
| Within Offering | Each additional child registered in the same offering. Siblings in different offerings don't get it. |
Include other programs (Across Program(s) only)
- On the program's 1 Setup page, with Across Program(s) saved, click the Click here to link programs. link next to Sibling Discount Type.
- On the Sibling Discount/Max $ Per Family Across Programs page, choose a Program and click Add. You'll see "Program has been linked and the sibling discount amount has been updated."
- Repeat for each program to include.
What you'll see: the programs under Linked Program, and a link icon next to Sibling Discount Amt on 1 Setup. Linked programs share one amount: linking copies this program's amount to the other program, and saving a new amount on a program updates the programs linked to it.
A link only joins the two programs it names. To group three or more programs, link every pair: for example, on program A link B and C, then on program B link C. Set each linked program's Sibling Discount Type to Across Program(s) too. To remove a link, click its red X and click OK.
Leave an offering out
To keep an offering out of the discount, such as a travel team or a clinic:
- Open the program's 2 Configuration page and click the Edit icon on the offering.
- Check Disable Sib. Discount ("Do not include this Offering in Sibling discount calculations").
- Click Save.
Registrations in that offering don't get the discount and don't count as a sibling for anyone else. To set the box on several offerings at once, use Update Multiple Offerings on 2 Configuration; it can check the box but not clear it, so clear it on each offering's Edit page.
New offerings start with the box unchecked. To change that, go to Programs > Configurations > General, and in the Offerings section set Disable Sib. Disc. Default to Checked or Unchecked, then click Save. The default applies to offerings added afterward; it doesn't change existing ones.
What families see
The discount is figured in the cart. Each discounted registration shows "***Sibling Discount: Includes a $10.00 Sibling Discount." (with your amount) in the cart, at checkout, on the order confirmation and in the order details on the family's account.
- The first child pays the full fee, and each sibling after that gets the discount. If a sibling already has an accepted registration from an earlier order (in the same offering, with Within Offering), every child in the new order gets it.
- Only player registrations count. Volunteer and sponsorship registrations don't.
- A waitlisted registration whose fee is deferred doesn't count and isn't discounted at checkout.
- The discount never takes a fee below $0, even with a coupon. A coupon and a sibling discount can both apply to one registration, and a percent coupon is figured on the fee before the sibling discount.
If it doesn't work
- There's no Sibling Discount Type on 1 Setup. Sibling discounts are only on Youth Registration programs with Standard Pricing. Youth Camp, Adult, Youth & Adult, Team Registration and Team Registration plus Roster programs don't have them, and Tiered Pricing programs price by the number of children instead. For a camp or another program type, give families a coupon code.
- There's no "Click here to link programs." link. The type isn't Across Program(s), or the program hasn't been saved with it yet. Choose Across Program(s), click Save, and the link appears.
- A program isn't in the Program list on the linking page. Only active Youth Registration programs without Tiered Pricing can be linked. "Program has already been linked." means it's in the Linked Program list already.
- "A valid Sibling Discount entry is required. If no Sibling Discount, put zero in the field." Sibling Discount Amt is empty or isn't a dollar amount. Enter an amount such as 10.00, or 0.
- A family didn't get the discount. Check that the children registered on the same family account; that, with Within Offering, they're in the same offering; that neither offering has Disable Sib. Discount checked; and that siblings in other programs are in programs linked directly to this one. Then check the order: on the family's Account Overview, click the View Order icon and look for the Sibling Discount line. A coupon may already have brought the fee to $0.
- You registered the siblings yourself with Place Order and no discount was taken. On Place Order the discount isn't automatic. Check Sibling Discount ("Applies sibling discount to this enrollment.") for each sibling's registration as you add it.
- A waitlisted sibling was accepted at the full fee. The Accept tab fills in the fee without the sibling discount. Change the amount before you save; see How to accept waitlisted enrollments.
- The first child in the cart paid the full fee. That's expected: the discount is for each additional child.
Good to know
- Changing the amount or type affects registrations added to a cart afterward. Registrations already paid keep their price.
- Accepted registrations in linked programs count, including ones from earlier orders, so link only programs from the same season and remove links to last season's programs.
- To limit the total a family pays, use Max $ Per Family on 1 Setup (Early, Regular and Late amounts). Linked programs share it too.
