The two versions
What does Auto Resolve do? It fixes conflicts in a schedule you've already created by moving only the games that need to move. It doesn't rebuild your schedule.
Which version do I have? On 4 Create Schedule, click Auto Resolve. If you see check boxes such as All Time Slots, you have standard Auto Resolve. If you see only the Resolve button, you have AI Auto Resolve.
How do I get AI Auto Resolve? It's included with the Elite and Enterprise plans. Contact support@teamsideline.com to turn it on.
I see AI Auto Resolve Settings in my menu. Is AI Auto Resolve on? Not necessarily. The settings page comes with your plan, but TeamSideline turns AI Auto Resolve on for your schedules separately. If the Auto Resolve panel still shows check boxes, contact support.
Can I pick a version for each run? No. Once AI Auto Resolve is on, every Auto Resolve run in your organization uses it.
What can AI Auto Resolve do that standard can't? It can move games to other weeks, and it stays off holidays. It also never moves locked games, and it follows games-per-day and per-week limits and coach travel time. You can give it different settings for each league.
Running Auto Resolve
Who can run it? Anyone with a role that has Auto Resolve permission, such as Administrator or Scheduler.
How long does it take? Runs wait in a queue, so a run can take a minute or more to start. AI Auto Resolve can take several minutes on a large division. The page refreshes every 30 seconds until the run finishes.
Can I leave the page while it runs? Yes. You get an email and a notice on the Admin Site Map when it finishes.
Who gets the email? Only the person who started the run.
Can I edit the schedule while it runs? Not if you can use Auto Resolve. For you, the editing buttons are grayed out until the run finishes or you cancel it. Admins without Auto Resolve permission aren't locked out, so ask them to wait.
Can two people run it on the same schedule at once? No. Each division schedule can have one run at a time. Runs on different divisions wait in the queue and are processed in turn.
Does Auto Resolve use changes I haven't saved? No. It works from your last saved schedule, so save before you start.
Results
Why didn't I get Approve and Reject buttons? Either a game in the schedule already had a result, so the changes were saved right away, or Auto Resolve found nothing to change. A result means a game was played, forfeited, or cancelled, is marked Score Not Kept or Scoring In Progress, or has a game comment or Exclude From Standings. Approve and Reject only show for admins with Auto Resolve permission.
Can I undo a schedule I approved? No. To change games back, edit the schedule by hand.
Does it move games that don't have a conflict? Sometimes. AI Auto Resolve may move another game to make room, and standard Auto Resolve rearranges games within a week. To keep a game in place with AI Auto Resolve, lock it.
Does it move locked games? AI Auto Resolve never moves a locked game, as long as the lock was saved with Calc & Save. Standard Auto Resolve doesn't check whether a game is locked.
Does it move games that were played or cancelled? No. Neither version moves them.
What happens to games it can't fix? They stay where they are, and the proposed schedule doesn't list them. Check the schedule's conflict alerts after you approve.
Will Auto Resolve put games on holidays? AI Auto Resolve never places a game on a date on TeamSideline's holiday list. It also moves unlocked games that are already on one, even if you hid the holiday warning. To keep a game on a holiday, lock it. Standard Auto Resolve doesn't check holidays.
Can Auto Resolve add weeks to my season? AI Auto Resolve can, but only if Weeks Auto Resolve May Extend The Schedule is above 0. Standard Auto Resolve never moves a game to another week.
Can Auto Resolve move a game to a TBD time slot? Yes, if the division has TBD time slots on its 3 Time Slots page. Both versions can use them. To prevent this, delete the TBD time slots your schedule isn't using before you run Auto Resolve.
Can AI Auto Resolve move a game to a date that's already passed? It can, because it doesn't check today's date. Check the proposed schedule before you approve it.
What happens to team sites and officials? When you approve, published team sites update automatically. Officials assigned to moved games get the new date, time, and location, and confirmed assignments go back to Pending. Officials see the change in their next daily assignments email, if your organization sends them.
Settings
Do AI Auto Resolve Settings change standard Auto Resolve? No. Standard Auto Resolve uses only the check boxes on the Auto Resolve panel.
Can each league have its own settings? Yes. Choose the league in Scheduling League, change its settings, and save. Leagues without their own settings use the organization default.
What happens if I uncheck an optimization priority? AI Auto Resolve ignores those conflicts completely when it moves games.
What settings should I start with? See the suggested settings in How to configure AI Auto Resolve Settings.
AI and your data
What does AI Auto Resolve send to the AI service? Only what it needs to place games: team names, location names, the days and times of your time slots, and which games conflict. It doesn't send names of players, parents, or coaches, contact details, or your organization's name.
Does anyone check the AI's changes? Yes. TeamSideline checks each move against your locks, holidays, closed locations, blocked weeks, team conflicts, and limits before it shows you the result. Then you review the proposed schedule and approve or reject it. The schedule's alerts aren't run on the proposal, so check them after you approve.
