Emails you send with Communications > Send Communication come from TeamSideline's no-reply address, no-reply@teamsideline.com, with your organization's name as the sender. Replies go to the Reply To address, which starts as your own admin email address. Your emails can come from an address on your own domain only after TeamSideline sets that domain up for sending.
Applies to: Org admins who send communications · All plans (choosing another admin's address in Reply To: Elite and Enterprise) · Communications > Send Communication
Where: Communications > Send Communication > (choose recipients) > Next > Create Your Message
What recipients see
| Part of the email | What it shows | Where you set it |
|---|---|---|
| Sender name | Your organization's name, or the name of one of your associated organizations | Friendly Name on Create Your Message |
| Sender address | no-reply@teamsideline.com, or an address on your own domain if TeamSideline has set one up for you | From on Create Your Message |
| Reply-to address | Your own admin email address, unless you choose another admin's address | Reply To on Create Your Message |

How to check the sender before you send
- Go to Communications > Send Communication.
- Check the lists or people you're emailing, then click Next.
- On Create Your Message, look at From. It shows no-reply@teamsideline.com, or the sending addresses set up on your organization's domain.
- In Friendly Name, choose the name recipients should see as the sender.
- In Reply To, check the address that should get replies. It starts as your own email address.
- Enter the Email Subject and your message.
- Click Send Now, or click Next to choose send options first.
What you'll see: "Your email will be sent out shortly." and the Communication Logs page. Click the email's subject there to see every address it went to, in the Email Recipients table.
Reply To and the Send As permission
- Without Send As: Reply To shows only your own email address, the one on your admin account.
- With Send As: Reply To lists the email address of every admin user in your organization, with yours selected. Pick another address, such as a shared registrar address, and replies go to that mailbox instead of yours. Send As comes with the Elite and Enterprise plans, and your admin role must include it.
- To add an address to the list, add it as an admin user in Administration > Manage Users. A shared address works well as its own admin account; see How to set up and hand over a role-based (shared) admin email account, below.
Replies always go to the Reply To address, never to the From address. A message someone types to no-reply@teamsideline.com doesn't reach your organization, so give members your Reply To address if they need to write to you.
Sending from your organization's own domain
Emails come from no-reply@teamsideline.com until TeamSideline sets up your organization's domain as a sending domain. After that, the From list on Create Your Message shows the sending addresses set up for your domain, such as no-reply@yourleague.org, in place of no-reply@teamsideline.com.
- To check, open Create Your Message and look at the From list. An address on your domain means your sending domain is already set up.
- To ask for one, contact TeamSideline Support. The domain has to pass the email service's verification before it can be used, which needs a DNS record on your domain, so whoever manages your domain may need to add a record that support gives you.
- After the change, ask members to add the new address to their contacts or safe senders list. The bottom of every email names the address to add: "To ensure delivery to your inbox, please add (address) to your address book."
- A sending domain only changes the From address. It doesn't give you mailboxes to read or send from. TeamSideline doesn't provide email inboxes, so for addresses people can sign in to, use an email provider. Mailboxes (Communications > Mail Administration > Mailboxes), which forwards addresses on your domain, is a legacy feature that isn't offered to new organizations.
Other emails your members get
- Automatic emails, such as order and refund confirmations and schedule and practice change emails, come from TeamSideline's no-reply address with your organization's name as the sender. Replies to them go to the Email Address on Communications > Configurations > Contact Us, so keep that address current.
- Team Site emails, which a coach or team member sends from a Team Site, come from the no-reply address with that person's name as the sender, and replies go to that person's own email address.
- Entry Form emails follow their own rules; see Who gets an email when someone submits an Entry Form?, below.
If it doesn't work
- Reply To shows only your own address. Your organization's plan or your admin role doesn't include Send As. It comes with the Elite and Enterprise plans; ask an admin who manages users to check your role.
- The address you want isn't in the Reply To list. Only admin users' addresses are listed. Add the address as an admin user, then start a new message.
- Friendly Name offers only some organization names. Your admin account is limited to certain associated organizations, so only their names are offered.
- A member says your email went to spam. Ask them to add the From address to their contacts. Send them Why Am I Not Receiving TeamSideline Emails?, below.
- Replies to an order confirmation reach the wrong person. Update the Email Address on Communications > Configurations > Contact Us.
Good to know
- Each recipient gets a separate copy, so recipients can't see who else got your email, and Reply All doesn't reach the other recipients. The full list is only in Communications > Communication Logs.
- Someone who's on more than one of the lists you chose gets one copy. When you include a Team Schedule Link or Team Roster Link, they get one copy per team instead, each with that team's link.
- You don't get a copy of what you send unless you're on the list. To copy an address on every communication, add it with Add Communication BCC on Communications > Configurations > General.
- With Show From Text set to Yes on Communications > Configurations > Email, the message starts with "This is a communication from" and your organization's name.
