Your team shows in the TeamSideline app once its team site is published and you're on its roster under the email address you sign in to the app with. When it's missing, the roster usually has a different email address for you, the team's site hasn't been published yet, or your new account hasn't confirmed its email address.
Applies to: Parents, players, coaches and team staff · All plans · TeamSideline app for iPhone and Android; organization team sites and standalone teams
Where: The TeamSideline app; TeamSideline.com > All Teams; your organization's website > My Account > Enrollments
Check these in order
- Confirm your email address (new accounts). A new TeamSideline account must confirm its email address before the app lists any teams. Open the "Validate Your Email Address" email from TeamSideline (check your spam or junk folder), click its link, then sign in to the app again. If you can't find the email, sign in on your organization's website and TeamSideline sends it again. If it still doesn't arrive, contact TeamSideline Support, who can confirm your account.
- Sign in with the email address on the roster. The app finds your teams by matching the email address you sign in with to the team's roster. For a youth player, that's the email address of the parent or guardian on the family account that registered the player. Adult players use the address they registered with, coaches and volunteers the address on their volunteer registration, and members of a team a coach created on TeamSideline.com the address the coach entered. If you have more than one TeamSideline account, for example with a personal and a work email, sign out of the app and sign in with the other one.
- Make sure the team's site is published. An organization's team appears in the app only after the organization publishes its team site, usually once teams are formed. Youth teams normally need at least one player and a coach or other staff member before they can be published. To check, sign in on your organization's website and go to My Account > Enrollments: if the Team column shows your team but the app doesn't, the team site isn't published yet. Many organizations email the roster when they publish, with a subject that starts "Announcement".
- Check that the team isn't hidden. Teams you hide in the app or on the All Teams page at TeamSideline.com share one hide/show setting. To show a team again, sign in at TeamSideline.com, open All Teams and click the team's red eye icon ("Team hidden, click to show").
- Check the season. Each season gets its own team site. When the organization closes last season's site, it moves to Archived Teams on the All Teams page. You appear on the new season's site once you're on its roster and it's published.
- Refresh, update or reinstall the app. TeamSideline checks the rosters each time the app loads your teams, so close and reopen the app, or sign out and sign back in. If the team shows on the All Teams page at TeamSideline.com but still not in the app, update the app from the App Store or Google Play, or delete it and install it again.
Coaches and volunteers
- In a youth or adult registration program, you're on a team site when the organization assigns your volunteer registration to that team. Only the Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Parent and Manager volunteer types get a role on the team, so other types don't put you on the team site. Ask your organization to change your volunteer type and check your team assignment.
- Being a team's contact (its Primary Email or Alternate Email) shows the team under Team Information on your organization's website, but it doesn't put the team in the app.
- Organization admins who open a team site from the admin site are added to it as League Administrator. That lets them view the site on the web but doesn't add the team to their app.
Family & Friends isn't a spot on the roster
If a team member invited you with Family & Friends, you follow the team instead of being on its roster. Teams you follow are listed separately from your own teams (under F&F Teams on the All Teams page). Followers see game and event information, such as times and locations, but not everything team members see; for example, they can't use the team chat or answer attendance polls. If you're a player's parent or guardian, ask the parent who registered the player to add you to the family account with Add Parent, or ask the organization.
If it still doesn't work
- The team shows in the Team Sites menu on your organization's website but not in the app. The website lists your teams even before you confirm your email address, but the app doesn't (step 1). Otherwise you're signed in to the app with a different email address, or the team is hidden (step 4). Sign in to the app with the address you use on the website.
- Your email address or password isn't accepted. See Why isn't my password working on the Team Sites App? below.
- The team was there and then disappeared. If your organization canceled the registration and took the player off the team's roster, the team leaves your list. Ask the organization.
- You still don't see the team. Contact your organization through the Contact Us page on its website, or, for a team created on TeamSideline.com, the team's coach. They can check which email address the roster has for you and whether the team site is published.
Good to know
- One TeamSideline account works for every organization: the app lists your teams from all of them.
- Don't change your account's email address to one that already has a TeamSideline account to combine the two; the accounts aren't merged. Sign in with the address on the roster, or ask your organization to correct the roster.
- If your organization doesn't use TeamSideline team sites, your team won't be in the app. A coach or team parent can create a standalone team on TeamSideline.com with Create Team; it isn't connected to the organization's registrations, but its staff can add the league's games to it with Manage Linked Schedules on the team's Events page.
- Youth players don't have their own sign-in. A player can use a parent's sign-in to see the team.
