These short videos show how to edit a website that uses the legacy content editor: the parts of your home page, your pages and menu, page content, an FAQ page, Entry Forms, Downloads, links and Sidebar Links. If your Content menu has Site Editor, your site uses Editor 2.0 instead; start with CMS: Introduction to Editor 2.0 (linked below).
Applies to: Org admins and content editors · All plans · Legacy content editor
Where: Content menu (Home Page Banner, Page Edit, Entry Forms, Downloads) and Content > Configurations (Site Pages, Sidebar Links)
Check which editor your site uses
- Sign in to your admin site and open the Content menu.
- If you see Page Edit, Home Page Banner and News Items, your site uses the legacy content editor and these videos apply.
- If you see Site Editor, your site uses Editor 2.0. Use the Editor 2.0 articles instead.
The videos
Watch them in this order the first time. Each one covers a single task.
- Learn your Home Page sections so you know what to change when you need to (video): the parts of your home page, such as the banner, the menu bar and the sidebar, and which admin page changes each one.
- Learn how to create or change pages in your Site (video): adding, renaming, deleting and reordering pages and menu tabs on Content > Configurations > Site Pages.
- Learn how to change the content on pages Part 1 - Templates (video): starting a page from a ready-made layout on Content > Page Edit.
- Learn how to change the content on pages Part 2 - The Toolbar (video): formatting text and adding pictures, tables and links with the Page Edit toolbar.
- Learn how to create an FAQ page (video): building a questions-and-answers page in Page Edit.
- Learn how to use Entry Forms (video): creating a form page that collects information, such as a tryout or free agent form, on Content > Entry Forms.
- Learn how to use the Download page (video): posting files visitors can download from your public Downloads page, on Content > Downloads.
- Learn how to use the Links Toolbar function (video): linking text on a page to your downloads, programs, schedules and other pages with the Links drop-down.
- Learn how to create Sidebar Links (video): adding links and sections that appear on the left side of every page, below the My Account and Schedule sections, on Content > Configurations > Sidebar Links.
- Learn how to use the Contact Us page (article): changing the contact information and text on your website's Contact Us page.
Tips for watching
- Click the Full Screen icon in the lower right corner of a video to see the screens clearly.
- Page Edit now opens in the Content Builder, where you drag ready-made blocks onto the page. If a video shows a different screen, follow How to edit a page's content with Page Edit (Legacy content editor), linked below, for the current steps.
- The written articles below cover the same tasks step by step, and they're easier to search.
If it doesn't work
- Your Content menu has Site Editor, not Page Edit. Your site uses Editor 2.0, so these videos don't match your screens. See CMS: Introduction to Editor 2.0.
- You don't see the Content menu, or one of its pages. Your admin role doesn't include it. Ask an Administrator to update your role.
- A video won't open or play. Try another browser, or contact TeamSideline Support (Help > Contact Support, or support@teamsideline.com) with the video's name.
Good to know
- Content editors can edit these pages too, if their admin role includes the Content menu.
- If you get stuck, TeamSideline Support can help: use Help > Contact Support in your admin site.
