To close a team you created yourself on TeamSideline.com or in the app, one of its team staff archives it: open Edit Team, check Yes, archive this team and click Save. Team Sites can't be deleted, so archiving is how you close a team whose season is over, or one created by mistake. A Team Site your organization published is archived by the organization instead.
Applies to: Team staff (Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Parent, Site Coordinator or Manager) · Any TeamSideline account, no organization plan needed · Standalone Team Sites (teams created with Create Team on TeamSideline.com or in the TeamSideline app)
Where: TeamSideline.com > Teams > All Teams > Edit icon (pencil), or the team's Edit Team tab
Archive a team you created
- Sign in at TeamSideline.com.
- Click Teams, then All Teams, and click the Edit icon (pencil) in the team's row. You can also open the team and click its Edit Team tab.
- Under Archive, check Yes, archive this team.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "Your team has been archived successfully." The team now appears under Archived Teams on All Teams, for you and for everyone on its roster.
Team staff can also archive a team in the TeamSideline app.
What archiving does
- The team leaves everyone's current teams: the Teams menu and Current Teams on TeamSideline.com, and the team list and team chat in the app.
- Its games and events leave everyone's calendars, and its reminder emails stop.
- Nothing is deleted. The roster, events, attendance and files stay, and anyone on the team can still open it from Archived Teams. It's read-only: nobody can add events, edit the roster, change attendance or post to it.
- An archived team has no Edit Team tab, so it can't be changed back from the team.
Can I undo it?
Not yourself. There's no un-archive on TeamSideline.com or in the app. If you archived a team by mistake, contact TeamSideline Support, who can restore it.
To run the team again next season, create a new team instead: click Teams, then Create Team, and under Copy Roster From pick last season's team, including an archived one. The roster is copied to the new team.
Teams your organization published
If your team's site came from your organization's registration program, it has no Edit Team tab and its staff can't archive it on the web. The organization's admins archive it on the program's 5 Team Sites page, usually when the season ends: see How to archive a program and/or Team Sites. Ask your organization if an old season's team is still showing.
If it doesn't work
- There's no Edit Team tab or Edit icon. Your organization published the team (it archives it), you aren't one of the team's staff, or the team is already archived.
- You only want the team off your own list. Hide it instead; any member can, and it doesn't affect anyone else. See How to hide or unhide a team (web and TeamSideline app).
- "Team Name is required.", "A valid year is required." or "A valid Season Name is required." Saving Edit Team checks the whole page first, archive or not. Fill in the field, keep Yes, archive this team checked and click Save again. With Start and End date chosen, the messages are "A valid start date is required.", "A valid end date is required." and "The start date must be prior to the end date."
Good to know
- There's no way to delete a team or Team Site, on TeamSideline.com or in the app. Someone who created or joined a team by mistake archives it (team staff) or hides it (anyone).
- Edit Team is also where team staff change the team's name, sport, gender, age group, season and Default Response.
