Yes: invite them with Family & Friends. Once a grandparent accepts your invitation, they follow every current team you're on, and your teams in later seasons too, with their own TeamSideline sign-in. They see game and event times, locations and directions, but not the roster's contact details, team chat or team messages. It's a one-time setup.
Applies to: Parents, players and team staff on a team roster, and the relatives they invite · All plans · Team Sites, on the web and in the TeamSideline app
Where: Any Team Site page > Family & Friends (in the menu on the left); in the TeamSideline app, Account > Family and Friends
Invite a family member or friend
- Open your Team Site: sign in on your organization's website and click your team under Team Sites, or sign in on the TeamSideline Team Sites sign-in page.
- In the menu on the left, click Family & Friends.
- Under Add Family or Friend, enter their First Name, Last Name and Email.
- Click Add.
What you'll see: "Your request to add a new member to your list of linked members is being processed. An invitation has been sent to the email address you entered." They're listed under My Family & Friends as not having accepted yet, until they do.
What the family or friend does
- Open the email "(your name) Has Invited You! | TeamSideline.com" and click its link.
- The page says "Your new Family & Friends linkage is complete." If they've never used TeamSideline, it also asks them to click "Forgot your password?" to set a password, which they do on the sign-in page.
- Sign in with that email address, on the TeamSideline Team Sites sign-in page or in the TeamSideline app.
Your teams then show under Family & Friend Teams in their Teams menu, and in the app. An individual invited by several families sees all of those teams together.
What they can see
- Team Home, Events, Stats and the roster's names, with game and event times, locations and directions.
- Game reminder emails, when you get reminders yourself, and your organization's game-change emails.
- Not phone numbers or email addresses, Attendance, Files, Payments, team chat or the messages coaches send to the team.
How to add Family & Friends to your teams (and what they can see) has the full list, how to resend or remove an invitation, and every message you might see.
When they need more
- They're a guardian, or they drive and pick up and need to reach the team. Family & Friends can't get contact details, team messages or chat. Add them to your family account as a parent or guardian with My Account > Members > Add Parent on your organization's website, and they get the team sites published for the children on your account, with their own email address.
- They want the games in their phone's calendar. Once they've accepted, they can open Calendar on their Team Site, click Subscribe to this Calendar and add the link to their calendar app. It includes the teams they follow.
- They'd rather not sign in. If your organization shows its game schedules on its public website, anyone can look up game times there.
If it doesn't work
- The invitation didn't arrive. Ask them to check spam and junk folders, then click [Resend Invitation] next to their name on your Family & Friends page.
- They accepted but see no teams. They follow only teams whose roster you're on, so the team's site must be published with you on it. If it is, check that they sign in with the email address you invited, not another one.
- "You already have a linked member with this email address." They're already on your list. Use Resend Invitation instead.
Good to know
- Family & Friends isn't a spot on the roster, and the page itself says not to use it for roster members (parents, players or staff).
- Anyone with a TeamSideline sign-in can invite Family & Friends; your organization doesn't approve or see these invitations.
- When a team's season ends and its site is archived, or you're no longer on its roster, your followers stop seeing it.
