To stop your website from showing a program's registration status, registration dates, program duration and costs with the program, check Hide default program text under Program Description on the program's 1 Setup page and click Save. The program's picture, description and buttons still show.
Applies to: Org admins · All plans · Registration programs on legacy content editor and Editor 2.0 websites
Where: Programs > Manage Programs > (program) > 1 Setup > Program Description > Hide default program text
Hide the default program text
- Go to Programs > Manage Programs.
- Click the program's name, then click 1 Setup.
- Under the Program Description box, check Hide default program text. It's next to Hide More Info page.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "Program has been saved." Refresh your website to check the program. To show the text again, uncheck the box and click Save.
What the default program text is
Unless you hide it, TeamSideline lists these details with each program, built from the program's own settings:
- "Registration Status:" Open, Not Open Yet or Closed
- "Early Bird Registration:", "Regular Registration:" and "Late Registration:", each with its dates (the early and late lines only when those dates are set)
- "Program Duration:" the program's start and end dates
- "Early Registration Cost:", "Regular Registration Cost:" and "Late Registration Cost:", or "Additional Late Registration Fee:", for the costs that apply
On a legacy website, the details appear in the home page's Programs section and on the current and upcoming programs pages when they use the list layout (the block layout shows only each program's picture, name, description and buttons). They also appear on the program's More Info page, under the heading "Program Details". Checking the box removes them, with the Program Details heading, from all of those places.
On an Editor 2.0 website, the Programs widget and the program details section build the same kind of details from your program, and TeamSideline sends them this setting too. You can't edit or delete them in the Site Editor, which is why they look locked. Hide them with this checkbox, or change the dates and costs in the program itself. The change doesn't need a Republish.
What still shows
- The program's picture, name and Program Description, and its Enroll, Volunteer, Sponsor and More Info buttons when they apply.
- On the More Info page: Frequently Asked Questions, the Offerings table (Offering, Registration Dates, Cost and Status), the Registration Fee Schedule for programs with pricing tiers, and add-ons. To hide those dates and costs too, hide the More Info page; see How to hide a program's More Info button and page.
To tell families the details in your own words, put them in the Program Description, which holds up to 2,500 characters including formatting. Or add Frequently Asked Questions on the program's 2 Configuration page with Add FAQ: each needs a Question (up to 40 characters) and an Answer (up to 400 characters, a limit that can't be raised). FAQs show on the More Info page and in the order confirmation email.
If it doesn't work
- 3 Preview still shows the registration status and dates. The program's 3 Preview page always shows the default program text and doesn't apply this setting. Check the program on your website instead; it must be visible there (a green eye on Manage Programs).
- Dates and costs still show on the More Info page. They're in the Offerings table or the Registration Fee Schedule, which this setting doesn't hide. Hide the More Info page if you don't want them shown.
- "Please enter a Program Description." 1 Setup can't be saved with an empty Program Description. Add a description, then save.
- "Your Program Description has exceeded the maximum allowable space -- please shorten." The description is over 2,500 characters, counting its formatting. Shorten it, or move some of it into FAQs.
- The text still shows after you saved. Make sure you changed the right program and saw "Program has been saved." Then refresh your website; on an Editor 2.0 website it can take a few minutes.
Good to know
- The setting is per program, so check it on each program whose text you want hidden. Copying a program copies its 1 Setup settings, this one included.
- Hiding the text doesn't change registration: the dates and costs still apply at checkout.
- The 3 Preview page's Preview Of list has "1. Program on Home Page", "2. Register to Cart Pages" and "3. Enrollment Page", so you can walk through registration without registering.
- Editor 2.0 websites also need a Programs widget on the page for programs to appear at all. See CMS: Show your programs on your website (Programs widget).
