To add a second parent or guardian to your family account, sign in on your organization's website, go to My Account > Members and click Add Parent. Enter their details with their own email address and click Add. They can then sign in with that email address and use the same family account.
Applies to: Parents and guardians · All plans · Organizations that register youth participants (adult-only registration sites have no Members page), in a web browser
Where: Your organization's website > Sign In > My Account > Members > Add Parent
Add a parent or guardian
- Go to your organization's website and sign in.
- Go to My Account > Members.
- Click Add Parent.
- Enter the parent's Email Address, First Name and Last Name. Use their own email address, not yours.
- Check Same As Primary? if they live at the primary account holder's address. Otherwise enter their Street Address and City, State, Zip.
- Enter Phone 1 and any other fields your organization asks for, such as Date of Birth.
- Click Add.
What you'll see: "Account updated." The Members page lists the new person with "(Parent or Guardian)" after their name.
If Phone 1 is a cell phone and you checked the text alert consent box under it, a Text Alerts page asks for the 4-digit Activation Code just texted to that phone. Enter it and click Validate, or click Skip if the other parent isn't with you. The parent is added either way.
What the new parent sees
- They sign in on your organization's website with the email address you entered. They see the same family account, with its members, registrations and order history, and they can register family members.
- If that email address doesn't have a TeamSideline sign-in yet, one is created, but no email is sent. They click Forgot your password? on the sign-in page to set a password. At their first sign-in they also get a "Validate your Email" email; they click its link to confirm the address.
- If they already sign in to TeamSideline with that email address (for example, for another organization), they use their existing password.
- If your organization has already placed your child on a team and published its team site, the new parent is added to that team site automatically. After they sign in, it appears under Team Sites in their menu.
Edit or remove a parent
- Edit: on My Account > Members, click the Edit Member icon next to the parent, change the details and click Save. On your own name, the icon opens your profile instead.
- After a registration: a parent's name can't be changed once they have a registration. You'll see "Some fields cannot be edited after an enrollment has been placed. To request a change, please select the Contact Us link under Help at the top of this page." If the Edit Member icon is grayed out, your organization doesn't allow edits after a registration; contact the organization.
- Uploaded files: if your organization asks for a file on the parent form, upload a new file to replace it, or check Remove under the current file and click Save. Remove isn't offered when the file is required. Files can be up to 10 MB.
- Remove: click the Delete Member icon (red X) and confirm. It's grayed out for the primary account holder, for anyone with a registration and for yourself. Only your organization can change the primary account holder.
If it doesn't work
- "This email address is already in use by one of your existing account members. Please access the existing member instead of creating a new member or use a unique email address for this new member." Someone in your organization already uses that email address, on your account or on another one. If the other parent already has their own account with your organization, ask your organization to merge the two accounts. Each parent needs a different email address.
- "Email Address is required." Your organization requires an email address for every parent.
- "The format of the Email Address you entered has a problem." Type the address again instead of pasting it, and check for typos.
- "Please enter your First Name.", "Please enter your Last Name.", "Phone 1 field appears to be incomplete." or a message about the address. Complete the field named. For an address message, you can check Same As Primary? instead.
- There's no Members page or Add Parent button. Your organization registers adults only, so each adult has their own account. If you're in the TeamSideline app, use a web browser instead.
- The new parent signs in but sees an empty account. They signed in with a different email address from the one on their parent record. They sign out and sign in with that address.
- "Invalid activation code." or "That Activation Code has expired. Text Alerts were not turned on." Only the text alerts weren't turned on; the parent was still added.
Good to know
- Add Parent is on your organization's website. Use a web browser on a computer or phone; the TeamSideline app doesn't have it.
- Members is for your own family only. It isn't a team roster, so don't add your team's players here.
- The Members page has Add Parent and Add Child. Add Child creates a new child record; it doesn't move a child or their registrations from another account. If a child is on the wrong account, contact your organization.
- Family & Friends on a team site is different: it gives someone limited access to that team site and doesn't add them to your family account.
- Your organization's admins can also add a parent to your account. When an admin adds a parent who has no TeamSideline sign-in yet, TeamSideline emails them a welcome message.
