Admins manage a team's announcements on the Team Site itself. On the program's 5 Team Sites page, click the orange house icon (Open Team Site) next to the team, then click Announcements to add, edit or delete one. Announcements show on the team's Team Home page. Each Team Site has its own announcements: there's no way to post one announcement to every Team Site at once.
Applies to: Org admins who can open a program's 5 Team Sites page · All plans · Team Sites published from Youth, Adult, Youth & Adult, Team Registration and Team Registration plus Roster programs
Where: Programs > Manage Programs > (program) > 5 Team Sites > Open Team Site (orange house icon) > Announcements
Open the team's Announcements page
- Go to Programs > Manage Programs and open the program.
- Click 5 Team Sites. Teams are listed by division.
- Click the orange house icon
next to the team. Its tooltip reads Open Team Site. The Team Site opens in a new browser tab.
- Click Announcements.
What you'll see: the team's current announcements, each with its name, the start of its text and who last updated it, under "As a Staff member, you can use this page to add, edit or delete announcements. Announcements appear on the Team Home page." A team with none shows "No announcements have been added for this team."
Add an announcement
- On the Announcements page, click Add Announcement.
- Enter the Announcement Name, up to 100 characters. It's the announcement's title.
- Enter the Announcement text, up to 2,000 characters.
- Optional: check Send Communication ("Email will be automatically sent to Team Roster.") to email the announcement to the team as well.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "New announcement added successfully." The announcement is listed on the Announcements page and shows on Team Home right away.
Edit an announcement
- On the Announcements page, click the pencil (Edit) next to the announcement.
- Change the Announcement Name or the text. Check Send Communication only if you want the team emailed again.
- Click Save.
What you'll see: "Announcement updated successfully."
Delete an announcement
- On the Announcements page, click the red X (Delete) next to the announcement.
- Click OK when you're asked "Are you sure you want to delete announcement "name"?"
What you'll see: the announcement is gone from the Announcements page and from Team Home. Deleting one doesn't email the team.
Who sees announcements
- Announcements show on the team's Team Home page to everyone who can open the site: the team's players, parents and staff, the Family & Friends who follow the team, and your admins. People using the TeamSideline app see them under the team's Announcements.
- The Announcements page itself is only for team staff, so players, parents and Family & Friends don't have it. They read announcements on Team Home and can't change them.
- Team staff, such as the coach or manager, can add, edit and delete announcements on their own Team Site the same way.
If it doesn't work
- There's no orange house icon next to the team. The team's site isn't published yet. Publish it from the Team Site column first; see How To Create Team Sites under Related articles.
- The Team Site has no Announcements tab. The site is archived, so its staff pages are closed and its announcements can't be changed.
- "Announcement Name field is required." or "Announcement field is required." Fill in both fields, then click Save.
- The welcome announcement isn't on the Announcements page. It shows for 21 days after the site is published, then drops off Team Home and the Announcements page by itself.
Good to know
- When you publish a site from 5 Team Sites, TeamSideline adds a "Welcome to the team name Team Site!" announcement to it, shown for 21 days.
- Saving an announcement dates it that day and keeps it on Team Home until someone deletes it. That includes the welcome announcement: once it's edited, it no longer drops off after 21 days.
- Announcements are listed newest first, by the date they were added or last saved.
- Send Communication emails the whole team roster from your account, with the Announcement Name as the subject and the announcement as the message. It's sent each time you save with the box checked, and the box starts unchecked every time.
- To reach several teams at once, send a Communication instead: Communications > Send Communication lets you choose the rosters of many teams.
- The "Announcement" email that goes out when a site is first published is a different thing, set by Announcement Email in Team Sites Configuration; see Team Site Welcome Email under Related articles.
