When you pay a TeamSideline subscription invoice, such as your renewal, by card, a 2.95% card processing fee (a convenience fee) is billed on a separate invoice of its own. That's the second, smaller charge you see after your renewal payment. Paying by bank account (ACH) or by check has no fee.
Applies to: Billing contacts and admins with the Billing role · All plans · TeamSideline subscription invoices (not the payments your families make to you)
Where: Administration > Subscription > Summary (Pay Invoice opens the billing portal)
How the fee works
- It's added only when a TeamSideline invoice is paid by card: credit, debit or prepaid. A payment from a bank account (ACH) or a mailed check has no fee.
- The fee is 2.95% of the amount you paid by card, rounded to the nearest cent. For example, a $1,000.00 renewal paid by card has a $29.50 fee, and a $699.00 renewal a $20.62 fee.
- It's billed on its own invoice, created shortly after your card payment, not as a line on your renewal invoice. One card payment gets one fee invoice, even when that payment covers more than one invoice.
- Paying the fee invoice itself doesn't add another fee.
- No fee is added when the card's billing address is in Colorado, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts or Oklahoma. If the card has no billing address on file, your account's billing address decides.
What you'll see
- Two charges: your renewal and, separately, the fee. The fee invoice is collected like your other TeamSideline invoices, usually from the payment method saved on your account.
- Your renewal invoice shows as Paid on Administration > Subscription > Invoices. The fee invoice isn't listed there, because that tab shows only your subscription's invoices. For a copy of a fee invoice, contact support@teamsideline.com.
How to pay without the fee
- When an invoice is due, go to Administration > Subscription and click Pay Invoice. The billing portal opens in a new tab, already signed in.
- Pay with a bank account (ACH) instead of a card.
- To keep future renewals free of the fee, save the bank account as your payment method in the portal. Automatic renewal payments use the payment method saved on your account, so a saved card brings the fee back.
Pay Invoice appears only while an invoice is due or past due, and only for admins with the Billing role. You can also pay by check: Mail Payment on the same page shows the mailing address. A check has no fee but takes longer to arrive and be applied.
If it doesn't work
- You paid by bank account and still see a fee. Check which payment method was charged. An automatic renewal is paid with the payment method saved on your account, which may be a card.
- There's no Pay Invoice button. Nothing is due, or you don't have the Billing role. An unpaid fee invoice on its own doesn't bring the button up; contact support@teamsideline.com to pay it.
- You think the fee was charged in error, for example because the card's billing address is in one of the states above. Contact support@teamsideline.com with the invoice number.
Good to know
- This fee applies only to your TeamSideline subscription invoices. The processing fee on registrations and orders your families pay through your Payrix account is a different fee; see What are the Payrix credit card processing fees, and who pays them? below.
- Billing questions are answered only for a listed site admin or billing contact, so a bookkeeper should include an admin on the request.
